We booked a suite on the 4th floor and I checked ahead of time about elevator access because my husband had recent surgery ... and could not climb stairs at the time. I was assured there was elevator access. Well, yes . . sort of. Not EVERY building has elevators, so we had to take the elevator in Building C to Building C's 4th floor, then walk quite a way to our suite on the 4th floor in Building B. As a result, my husband had a difficult time and did not go to the pool or around the complex as much as he would have--this diminished the experience a bit. If this is an issue for you BE SURE TO CHECK THAT YOUR BUILDING IS ONE WITH AN ELEVATOR. The other thing that we did not find out (because we had no need for it earlier) was the complex does not have a business center, so we were unable to print our boarding passes for our return flight. This meant having to leave for the airport earlier than we would have had to do had we had boarding passes. I was sort of surprised a resort of this class and status does not have a business center. We booked ocean view which comes at considerable increase in the rate. Yes, we could technically see the ocean from 404B, but it was a rather slim sliver of ocean. Our advice--check on the view from your specific room if you care about seeing much of the ocean. Other than those three issues--which may not be issues for you--we were very impressed with the resort and its amenities. Even though we were cautioned the resort was not on a beach where it was safe to swim in the ocean, it was a VERY pretty beach with nice tables, chairs, covered huts, and with most of the guests using the pool and spa area (which was stellar!) we had no competition for a place to post up right on the water. Sweet!

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at the Waipouli Beach Resort. The location was great - good beach access, shopping ... center across the street, easy drive to both the North and South shore of the island. We had a 'garden view' condo which faced the parkinglot, but the landscaping was beautiful and I hardly noticed we were by the parkinglot. Our condo was fully stocked with all of the necessary kitchen amenities, however we did talk to one couple who were in a condo that was for sale, and their kitchen was missing a lot of basic cooking equipment. We had a very relaxing, comfortable stay at the Waipouli Beach Resort, and we would definitely recommend it to others.

Lydgate Park is the perfect spot for beginner snorkeling. The swimming area is completely walled in by large rocks to protect the area from the surf. Tons of tropical fish live and feed along the rocks. Also, it is shallow enough in most places that you can stand up if you need to adjust your equipment. You can rent the snorkel gear on the drive to the park from Boss Frog or Snorkel Bob's.

This was an exceptionally beautiful place in Kapaa, Kauai. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very spacious and very clean. ... Decorations inside the two bedroom that we stayed at were very tasteful. I particularly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, that was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. We just loved looking at the Monk seals that were beached on the sandy shoreline. The seals were lovingly watched by volunteers who roped the area off, so the public would not disturb them. I would recommend this resort as a package deal, which is alot less expensive than doing individual airfare, hotel and car rental. My only complaint is that the resort lobby staff was not that friendly. Their attitudes ranged from bored to unhelpful.

My husband and I loved the rooms. Having a full kitchen was very nice, and the hotel staff was so helpful and kind. The ... pool was amazing. We finished every night of our trip in the hot tubs, it was a perfect ending to any day. The location was nice for us, about half way between the North shore and the South/West. We are coming back in two years, this time with the three kids, and there is no doubt in our minds where we will be staying.

Good location, great island
California family Sep 14, 2009
We came for a 10-day vacation. We enjoyed the proximity to both the north and south shore sites. Our room overlooked the ... parking lot, the busy street, and the shopping center across the street. The cost of upgrading was high, so we didn't. We did eventually get used to the view and we didn't stay around the hotel very much, so it was probably the right decision, but it didn't feel like a remote tropical resort, more like a nice city hotel. The room was comfortable with 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen and a main living room. This allowed us to have a cup of coffee and bowl of cereal while our teenaged son slept in. No real complaints, the housekeeping staff wanted to come around 9:00 am. If we were still in the room at that time we had to call to get housekeeping. The pool looked pretty - we didn't go. The beach was not the best, so we went elsewhere. Enjoyed local music in the poolside bar - K Town Boys were great! We didn't know the ukelele could do that.

Awesome week at the Outrigger!
The Zoomys Sep 8, 2009
The Outrigger's location on the east side of Kauai was a great spot to access the resort areas of the south shore and the ... magnificent beaches of the north shore. We spent a lot of time in the rental car to see and do things around the island, and Kapaa seemed to be about as centrally located as it gets. The condo itself was huge and very well maintained; we appreciated the large bathrooms, comfy beds/pillows, and big fridge in the kitchen. The resort is across from a couple of grocery stores so it was nice to stock up on breakfast stuff for the week and save ourselves from eating all meals out. Sunrises on the beach were AMAZING. The only thing I'd complain about is that our "garden view" condo was more of a "parking lot" view. But we didn't spend a lot of time sitting around the condo anyway as there's so much to see and explore in Kauai. Plus, if we wanted to see the ocean it only took about 90 seconds to walk from our second story unit down to the beach.

Fantastic Getaway
marianne Sep 2, 2009
We enjoyed our stay very much, except that I broke my toe while on the Na Pali coast tour - sea was very rough. We also went ... to the Waimea Canyon -- spectacularly beautiful! The condo was spacious and I loved the fact that we had indoor washer and dryer. We had dinner out in our patio a couple of times while enjoying the greenery, palm trees and a glimpse of the ocean beyond. We were on the first floor so we didn't have the spectacular view that those on floors above us had but I loved the scenery anyway. Only one thing, I felt the oversized bath tub should have been in the master bedroom (I took the master as being the one with the bigger bed and patio). We also felt that the DVD player should have been in the living area instead of in the 2nd. bedroom. But that's nitpicking. Kitchen was fully stocked with the proper utensils, etc. Great frig, stove, and dishwasher - all stainless steel. We were centrally located with a Safeway right across the street. The prices are a bit steep but there's a Foodmart about a block away. It might be a bit better. Breaking my toe put a bit of a damper on my trip but our condo was the best place I can recall staying at and, of course, Kauai is beautiful!

The Outrigger Waipouli provide almost everything you need in their condos. They are well furnished with contemporary bedding ... and appliances. We felt right at home in our condo. Our view wasn't all that spectacular but we didn't want to upgrade since we didn't plan on spending much time in the condo. The pool is a lagoon type which we really enjoyed with waterfalls, a slide and sand bottom whirlpools. Very nice! The resort is in the East and most of the activities are in the North or South. It was nice to be in the middle at times but the weather in the East wasn't all that great and we wished we were in the South where is was sunny most of the time with awesome beaches. We enjoyed ziplining and our zodiac rafting tour. Highly recommended!!! Overall I recommend the Outrigger for the price and quality. If you don't mind a 30-40 minute drive you can pretty much get to anywhere you want to go.

SchultzScience Jul 3, 2009
We were super-excited when we arrived at Waipouli Beach Resort, the room did not feel like a hotel at all. It felt like a ... mini-apartment. It was nicely decorated and had all the kitchen items you could want; there was even laundry detergent. We unpacked and went out to explore and were greeted by cockroaches when we got back. We alerted the front desk and they promptly moved our things. We attributed the pests to having the room right next to the dumpster. Our next room was just as nice and bug-free. Our stay was excellent after that. The pool is more family oriented with two water slides and is only 4 feet deep. The Tahitian Lanai (restaurant/bar) is located on the property and has live music in the evenings although the food and drink is not cheap;) This is a great place to stay because you can make trips to the North or South Shore fairly quickly. It is right across the street from a shopping center with a Safeway (groceries), Starbucks, Longs' Drugs, ABC Store, Subway, Panda Express, Cold Stone, and other little shops.

We booked a partial ocean view room which was mostly a view of the parking lot. You could see the ocean if you leaned over the balcony.
