We stayed here because my son's wedding was on the adjacent beach. The condo was clean, well equipped kitchen, accommodated ... everyone who stayed there. The bedrooms were on the street side which was noisy because you have to leave the windows open for ventilation since there is no a/c. Grounds maintenance started early in the morning and was also noisy. The view and ocean sounds from the lanai off the dining/living room were lovely. We got a deal on the price together with our rental car. Probably would not pay the full listed price.

the condo was walking distance to cocnut market place.good with small children. the expanse of lawn to the ocean was a great ... bonus for play and picnic. view of the ocean was superb from our room and just short distance from our ground floor patio. low rise buildings of only 2 or 3 story seem more cozy.

Lae Nani, Kauai, August 09
Snorkel1 Aug 13, 2009
Kauai is beautiful and the family all agreed it was better in every way than Maui. We like hiking and snorkeling and that's ... what we did most. Had a great time! Lae Nani- Excellent location and condo. Room was very well situated and well appointed. Nice ocean view and view of the grounds. Free wireless access. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with our late checkin and late checkout. There's no AC but we never needed it. It was pleasant and windy for our whole stay. Upper floors have more "flow-through" ventilation! The only thing missing from our condo was a washer/dryer, but the coin-op was close and cheap (you can get quarters and single-load detergent boxes at the office). Overall, we loved Lae Nani and would come back. Highly recommended. All rooms at Lae Nani have an ocean view; Buildings 1 & 2 across the pool area and Buildings 3, 4 & 5 across the manicured grounds. I would recommend Buildings 3 & 5 the most; Building 4 is set back the furthest and backs up to the road, so it would be the last of what are all good choices. I don't think there is a bad room at Lae Nani! Parking is readily available and close to all rooms. Building 5 is closest to the beach and probably the longest walk to park. There are no elevators, so ask for a ground floor or 2nd floor if that's a problem. All upper floors have a lanai (balcony). Lae Nani is on the East Coast and was a great central location for exploring all of Kauai. The beach at Lae Nani is pretty but a bit rough. Lydgate Beach is 5 min. away and is a beautiful beach for swimming and hanging out; they also have sheltered snorkelling for beginners, and there's a lifeguard station. Highly recommended snorkeling: Tunnels, Hideaways, and Ke'e beaches. Hiking: Any and all of the Waimea canyon hikes; definitely drive the length of the canyon drive to stop at all the lookouts first, and then buy trail maps/topos and talk to the staff at the Koke'e Lodge to decide on your hikes. Most awesome view is at the end of the Awa'awapuhi Trail (6.2 miles rt, 1200' elevation change, very strenuous), easiest is the Kuilau Ridge Trail (in the Wailua area near Lae Nani, ~3 mi rt, easy, nice foliage). Most adventurous hike, and best view of Na Pali coast: Kalalau Trail to Hanakapi'ai Beach. If you only get out once, do the Kalalau Trail in the morning (park before 8:30 to get a spot) and snorkel the afternoon at Ke'e Beach. Kauai is beautiful. Just go!

Family Friendly

The Outrigger Lae Nani is one of the nicer complexes in the immediate area. For families, it has a nice kitchen and family ... room area. The grounds and pool are clean. There is an ocean kids area blocked off by boulders to provide shelter from the waves. The beach area is not very nice for swimming, though the pool is well kept. As a bonus, there is free wireless internet access.
Traveler type: Family
The outrigger is located near enough to several of the major Island attractions and to the airport...though the access to the main two/three lane highway is a bit tricky during 'rush' hours.
