Kona Krazy Oct 30, 2009
We traveled with our two adult children and there was plenty of room in the condo for all of us to have space and sleeping ... quarters. The master bed was comfortable and firm and the pull-out bed was good. There were ceilling fans and floor fans. We were comfortable with no AC.There are two patios per condo, one with a large table and chairs and one with seating only. There was another table and chair set in the living room. We had a large bathroom and a well-stocked kitchen, which we bought food at the nearby shopping center, and ate breakfast and lunch at the condo and went out to eat dinner. They were painting the outside of the condos and were a bit noisy one morning, so ask if they will be doing maintenance by your condo before you check in. If you need anything, ASk, they are very accomodating, but do not bug you each morning with service, infact they stock you up with towels, etc to last and check every third day. They even provide swim noodles and a boogie board and umbrella (which we used)for the beach. We were very close to the golf course and the BEST snorkeling beach in Kona. The Kona Surf shop is across the street from the snorkeling beach. They charge more -8$ for a complete set of gear; fins, mask and snorkel, but I was able to use a prescriptin mask and see the wonderful sea life!!- sea turtles, yellow tangs, and MORE!! If you don't need prescription, you could buy your gear at LONGS Drug store. They have EVERYTHING you need for your trip- gear, souvenirs, sunscreen, and reasonable prices. Around the corner is a local grocery or you can go to Walmart. They have nice hawaiian style clothes and some food, but it is not a super store. Do vist the ABC stores for great prices and nice t-shirts and sarongs. We did not go on tours , as we have been to Hawaii before and wanted to relax and go with the flow.We enjoyed our condo, pools and the beach. Our condo was a little off the main streets and we liked the beauty and quietness of the condo and the security station at the entrance. Eat shaved ice (Hawaiian invention) and enjoy the warmth. Take some cash or have acess to an ATM, as some places, a few) only take cash. When you prepare to return to the mainland, be sure and leave the condo about two hours prior to your departure. They move slowly checking you in and lines are usually long.

We went to Huggo's on the Rocks for some delicious food and a local muscian. You sit in chairs in the sand overlooking the ocean. Bongo Ben's was ok,( no ocean view)but we preferred Huggo's.

Unbeatable location for the price

We had a great time and the Condo was PERFECT! It was a huge 2 bedroom with a loft. There was pleanty of room in the condo ... for all four of us. The lanai was great over-looking the golf course, and the one off of the master bedroom was nice too. They came in everyday to give us new towels, and changed our sheets every 3 days. We have stayed in other Condos at the other islands, and never had our bed changed without paying a fee, or received new towels. It was nice to have clean, non-sand bedding put on our beds. We did a lot of snorkeling all over the island, but the best place was only about a five minute drive. This was our first time to the Big Island, and we really enjoyed it.

The good restuarants were really close. We enjoyed Kona Brewing Co., Bubba Gumps and Bongo Ben's.

Comfortable place
Family of 3 Apr 22, 2009
Really enjoyed the place! It is very quiet. Service was very good. The one-bedroom place was clean and roomy with spacious ... decks and large rooms and well equipped kitchen. Landscaping is nice--lots of trees and flowers. Furnishings were a bit dated but comfortable; for a beach setting, style is not top on our list. Location is convenient (short drive) to the snorkeling beach about 1/2 mile down the road and close to the shoping center for groceries. Very convenient for golfers. Not excellent for walkability to a beach if that is your main aim.

nice, quiet location on the Big Island
Jody Dec 3, 2008
This property has beautiful, lush landscaping. The 2br, 2ba condo was huge. The bathrooms could use some updates (shower ... doors with lg amt scum buildup and rust). Parking is covered, but our neigbors felt the need to park in our spot...we didn't care. Ate at the onsite restuarant only once due to running around other parts of the island---was very good for breakfast right at the ocean's edge. Biggest disappointment: charging for air conditioner!!! Found this out after our arrival. A great place for families.

Quiet, relaxing get away
Robert May 20, 2008
We had a quiet and relaxing stay in a ground floor, ocean view, one-bedroom condo (two baths). The grounds were beautiful. ... The condo was about 75 feet from the ocean with beautiful tropical trees and plants surounding it. You would need to book a two-bedroom unit to get ocean front and these would also be very private. The two-bedrooms were two floors with four units per building, and the one-bedroom units were three floors with six units per building. Every morning we saw geckos sunning themselves on the plants, as well as beautiful birds. The condo had plenty of ammenities. We worried about not having AC, but it was not a problem. We stayed there in the last half of May, 2008; in the evening there was a cool ocean breeze and in the morning there was a cool breeze coming from the mountain. The restaurant has closed. The condos are out of town and private with a guard at the entrance. Everyone, including other guests, was very friendly.

1. The Sheraton, which is across the bay to the south of the condos, feeds manta rays every evening at dusk. It's a beautiful site and there is no charge for parking or viewing. 2. Kahalu'u Beach Park is great for snorkling (mostly 3 to 5 feet deep), free, and is about a mile from the condos.

Beautiful & Convenient Location
LESA Sep 3, 2007
This Condo is located in a beautiful setting on the ocean with a great view from our Lanai. The sunsets from the property ... are incredible. It is close to the Kona restaurants but also centrally located to visit other parts of the island. The inside was clean & comfortable and the staff was always friendly.

The condo was very homelike and had all the accomodations of a home which made it nice for us. We do not like to go out to ... eat all our meals so it provided us the option to eat there as well as barbeque. The location was near a shopping center as well as near the beaches.

Lovely Hawaiian Style
joseph Apr 18, 2007
The Outrigger Kanaloa Condominiums are an excellent value. The condos are spacious, well furnished and quiet. The location ... is also excellent - only ten minutes from Kona town, and a few minutes to snorkeling areas. The on-site restaurant is situated right on the oceanfront and is excellent. If you are familiar with Kona, you'll know that a lot of the condos are noisy because they are situated in the middle of the tourist areas. The Kanaloa is a few miles south of Kona town and provides a lot of privacy, peace and quiet. I would highly recommend the Kanaloa to anyone who is looking for true Hawaiian style in quiet location.
Traveler type: Couples
Jameson's is the top notch restaurant in Kona. About a ten minute drive from the Kanaloa, the food is outstanding (although a little pricey) and the view is fantastic. The Kona Inn in Kona town is the oldest restaurant in the area. The Mai Tai's are great and the atmosphere very Hawaiian.
