Nice place for the price

It was our 40th wedding anniversary, and we could not get king or queen size bed, only 2 double beds. We liked the ... location, though: two blocks away from the Parlament Hill, close enough to the Byward Market and other tourist attractions. Tremendous shopping Rideau Center is nearby too.

Atelier Restaurant was very unique dining experience, serving 13 courses paired with the wines during 3-4 hrs ( not too cheap!)

Excellent value in a beautiful city

Hotel was an excellent value, given that it was walking distance to Ottawa's downtown tourist attractions (Parliament, Rideau ... canal, museums, restaurants, open market, etc.). Staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. We ate at the Merlot revolving restaurant on the roof. It was a splurge for us, but we were rewarded with spectacular views of Ottawa, a good menu and excellent service from our server, [...]. All in all, a great stay.

Get to parliament around 9:00 am to easily get tickets for a tour (most interesting to us was the Centre Block where the legislature meets). Then you can explore the grounds without any competition until about 9:30, at which point you should look for a good viewing point for the Changing of the Guard ceremony. The best spot to view the ceremony is along the wall in front of the main parliament building (Centre Block).
