Good Experience

Visiting with Mum Nov 18, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

My mother and I went to Disneworld, so what we needed was a location to spend the night at. This hotel fitted perfectly. The ... beds were good. Overall, rather old and, consequently, not really brand new and clean, but okay to spend the night. What was good was the shuttle service to the theme parks. I wish only we had been told in advance that the Magic Kingdom shuttle back to the hotel stops not only at the Magic Kingdom, but rather at the Ticket and Transportation Center location to which one needs to get using Metrorail. Mother wouldn't mind more bath supplies, bathing caps, hand lotions, shampoo, etc. The fountain drink water smelled strongly of chlorine.

Nothing spectacular but reasonably price

Well Traveled Nov 18, 2009

Stayed at the hotel for our trip to see a shuttle launch at NASA and to see Walt Disney World. Although the location was ... convenient and the hotel was reasonably priced, the bathrooms were gross and could really use some work. The wall in our bathroom had water damage and looked like it was about to break open, lots of mold on the tile, the door wouldn't stay open all the way and the sink area is very small. The jacuzzi was very small and water level was very low. Beds were comfortable. The noise we experienced was from other guests letting their doors slam instead of closing them quietly - just a pet peeve of mine and I feel it's inconsiderate to other guests. Also we experienced problems with the room keys not working to our room or to the hotel side door entrance as well as to the pool area. We had to rely on other guests to let us in at times. Also, upon check out, we realized we were charged a "safe fee" each day. It's $1.60 per day - no big deal but don't recall being told of this charge up front. The hotel is close to restaurants so that was nice.

while in orlando, we went shopping and traveled to cocoa beach. we stayed at the orlando vista hotel because of the price ... but was surprised with the lack of amenities. there was no microwave, refridgerator, or snack machines in the room or on the floor for that matter. also the internet was going to cost $6 an hour to use or $10 a day so that was a little rediculous. Anyway, the room was clean, quiet, and friendly.

Trip hints from our users

Money savers hint, In Hotel

Perfectly located, park, dining, shoppind, entertainment, everythink is very short. The best price for all that you need without luxury but comfortable.

--Belle, Weston, Fl Nov 10, 2009

Dining hint, Short Walk

If you want to save money on food, don't eat at Downtown Disney. Eat close to the hotel and save your shopping for Downtown Disney - it's filled with awesome shops!

--Able A, Columbia, SC Nov 8, 2009

Time savers hint, Short Drive

Downtown Disney is only 3 minutes away if you drive. To get the best access to Disney parks, drive to Downtown Disney by the Ghiradelli Lot 1, and park there. Then walk to the Disney bus stop, which provides buses for ALL Disney parks and resorts. This is the best way to get to the parks without paying a fee and getting dropped off in front. The hotel buses were not that reliable and this was still faster.

Good deal, good stay

Able A Nov 8, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Enjoyable stay, especially for the price. Nice clean hotel, which was important to us. There is a shuttle that takes you to ... all the Disney parks, but you have to ask the front desk for the arrival and departure times as they don't freely offer that information. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance for any range of budget (IHOP, Olive Garden, Chili's, and more). Downtown Disney isn't too far -the hotel description says it's within walking distance, but for most people that's not true, plus there's no clear walking route. Overall, we enjoyed our 3 night stay very much.

Staff Wonderful--thin walls, etc.

Disney Fan Oct 27, 2009

Very close, very nice staff at check in and with cleaning crew, not busy timeshare people, close to restaurants, comfortable ... beds, some kind of bed bugs or fleas, spent a good bit of time using restroom in Lobby because couldn't get to staff at front desk before went to park to report toliet problem and then couldn't find someone at return then couldn't get through line next morning. Very loud with a good bit of noise from parking lot, lot of banging door even cleaning staff very noisy during morning. Good tv reception, no microwave, no refrigerator not good, ice machine on floor broke during half stay. When inquired where there might be a working ice machine was told they thought that another floor might or might not be working.

However, my biggest problem was the ... traffic getting there.. the traffic around the I-4 interchange is terrible. The staff at the hotel was great! Great location and price

Tourista Oct 7, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The Good:This hotel was in a great location. Just around the corner from Downtown Disney and no more than 15 minutes drive to ... any of the WDW parks. There was a little shopping center next door with a souvenir shop, Subway, Chinese Buffet and an IHOP. Across the street are several restaurants (Denny's, Black Angus and a Pizza Hut) and there are probably over a dozen other restaurants within a 2 block radius of the hotel. We never had to go far to eat. They offer a free shuttle to the WDW parks, but we chose to drive, so we could leave when we wanted. If you wanted to use the free WDW shuttle, you could drive or walk over to Downtown Disney and hop on one of those too. The staff was great. Everyone was friendly and the rooms were clean. At check-in we were given a stack of coupons for local businesses and there was no long salespitch, like others have mentioned. The attractions specialist in the lobby asked if we would be interested in hearing about a timeshare or something, but we said no and he never mentioned it again. The room was clean and had a nice view of the pool. We got the 2 queen room, which isn't as big as some of the others, but there are just the 3 of us. Free cable including the Disney Channel and HBO. For the price, this was a great deal. It was equivalent to a Holiday Inn or similar, but half the price. OK, now for the not-so-great stuff:No in-room internet access. You have to go down to the lobby to check your email. The pool was not heated, although both the [...] and the Hotels own website description said it was. This pool is in the shade all day, and it was freezing cold. We were really looking forward to a swim after a long day at the WDW parks, but no one could stand how cold it was. All in all, it was a great stay and we would stay at the Orlando Vista Hotel again.

Nice service, rooms not very nice

Displeased Honeymooner Oct 3, 2009

When we arrived at the hotel and checked in we were told to see the "guide" for info around the area. He was much nicer to ... the obviously older couple ahead of us than to us, who are obviously in our early 20s. The over all experience was one I would NOT want to repeat again. Our first room smelled horrible like there was water in the carpet. We stayed in that one 4 nights until I couldn't take it anymore and asked to switch rooms. We got switched next door. One of those scamming pizza places slipped a fake ad under our door. When my husband opened the door he threatened to kill my husband if he reported him. We then got our room upgraded and got free breakfast for the next day. This was the best experience of the hotel we had... the pool side rooms were loud. We were on the 5th floor and could hear everything that happened in the pool right up until 11 p.m. and the music they play starting at 8 a.m. Their taxi service they keep at the hotel is WAY overpriced in comparison to the yellow taxi service, do not take it! They spoke poor english and were not any help in finding where you wanted to go. We were there to go to disneyworld on our honeymoon. The top blankets were also stained. The bathroom was very dirty and had hair in the tub and the floor was very dirty. Glass cups were provided for water that I did not use. Water tasted like well and not city water. In our first room we could hear the couple next door have intercourse every night we were in that room. Not very romantic on a honeymoon to hear another couple going at it... and certainly wouldn't be appropriate if children were in our room. It was very loud like they were in the room right with us. The best thing I can say about this place is that it's right across the street from a bunch of chain restaurants. The pool was also very n ice. one small jacuzzi and goes 8.5 feet deep and also has a children's pool. If you are there for an attraction do yourself a favor and stay in a resort, or at least don't stay here!

Good location

Would recommend to a friend!

This hotel has a very good location and offers free shuttles to and from Disney world. It's also close to the Premium Outlets ... mall, which offers great shopping deals. A taxi will charge from $8 to $12 dollars per ride to the mall, but once there you can take the trolley that runs up and down the international drive where you´ll find other shopping malls, restaurants, and top attraction sites like Sea World, Universal Studios, and Wet n Wild. Believe me, if you want to save transportation money, use the trolley. As I said the Orlando Vista offers free transportation to Disney and it is very close (maybe not within walking distance) to the troley station at the outlet mall. From the Vista hotel you may also take a walk across the street to IHOP, Burger King, Denny's and a few more restaurants. Regarding the hotel, don´t expect the wi-fi to work in your room. There´s signal anywhere in the hotel but very weak signal inside certain rooms. I had to switch rooms in order to get a medium-strenght signal. This service has a charge of $10 for 24 hrs. But you may also use the business room at the lobby which offers wi-fi without charge. There´s also a minor hidden charge at the hotel for the room safe. Whether you use it or not they'll charge about $2 per day. They might say its not a hidden charge since they make you sign a form acknowledging about it but then again if you prepaid your stay they'll tell you about this charge upon check in.

Realize for such a low price you are not at the Hilton

You can also go across the street to the Olive Garden, Blank Angus Steakhouse,Sizzler resturant.Chili's,Macaroni Grill,Taco bell,McDonalds and some other better resturants other than the last two fast food places I mentioned are all on state road 535,also known as Apopka Vineland Rd.

Rent a vehicle on-line in advance. It's not easy to get a vehicle once you get there.

Money savers hint, Short Walk

If you just so happen to miss your bus back from Animal Kingdom, or Magic Kingdom, then don't panic and call a taxi right away; the hotel is only a half mile walk. A short 7 minute walk is well worth saving $30 in taxi fare.

--Justin, Lafayette, La Aug 1, 2009

Shopping hint, Short Walk

Disney products next door, at good to great prices. Variety of eating establishments within a 1 block walk, ranging from Subway to local Chinese Buffet with IHOP at the top of this list. Walking distance from theme park.

There is a Denny's accross the street from the hotel where kids eat free after 4pm. There is also Sizzlers down the street with a all you can eat breakfast buffet for $4.99 till 11:30 am.

--Carmen Super mami, Washington, DC Jul 8, 2009

Shopping hint, Short Drive

In Orlando, near the Orlando Vista, they have great outlet malls with top brands like Coach, Louis Vuiton, and Fendi at a low price

--Nikki, Alexandria, VA Jun 25, 2009

Time savers hint

Don't rely on the shuttle service to get anywhere. The best thing you can do is drive the 1 minute through the Disney Hotel area to Downtown Disney, which is 1 minute away by car. Once there, park in the Parking Area 1. From there, you can walk to the Disney Bus area and get buses to every park, water park, hotel, etc. Most of the buses that are for resorts also make stops at parks, so be sure to ask the driver. This is much more reliable and quicker than using the resort shuttle. Plus you can end your day at Downtown Disney to get something to eat! Parking is easy at Downtown Disney and free, and so are using the Disney shuttles.
