CANCUN IS AMAZING! It's the 7th time I visit and I can't get enough of this beautiful vacation spot! Overall the Omni is ... good, yet it lacks in so many ways. The hotel is spotless, the rooms were good and the service is FANTASTIC! Now here's the bad part: it's obvious the beach hasn't been repaired after the hurricane, in fact, it's almost non-existant. There are too many big rocks on the beach that make for a dangerous swim. If you love the beach and the ocean itself, then this isn't where you want to stay. If you spend most your time in or by the pool, then go for it! Oh...if you have difficulty walking long distances or climbing stairs, then this is NOT the hotel for you. There is a long walk from the street to the property and a steep walk up to the hotel lobby (there are no elevators to take you to the lobby). Then there are stairs to go down to the pool/restaurant area - again, there isn't an elevator or ramp to take you there. Very expensive food, don't eat or drink there - it's best to visit one of the many great restaurants in Cancun (or look into all inclusive). When the staff tries hitting you up for a talk/tour of the hotel (it's a sell, sell, sell talk), tell them you've done it before and aren't interested, they should leave you alone after that.

Vacationed during 'Off Season'. Resort quiet, clean, drinks very good after getting to know the bartenders. Food got ... redundant for All-Inclusive. Did resort 'Tour'... Got impatient after fourth arm-twister to buy. Not much of a beach. Would we go again? Sure.

Nana Oct 26, 2009
Our stay at Omni was great! After the horrible experience with all the timeshare sales people at the Cancun airport arriving ... at the Omni was a relief. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. They are always trying to make you feel at home. We didn't get the all-inclusive plan because we don't like to spend a lot of time in the hotel. We did a lot of sightseeing (Tulum, Xel-Ha, Xcaret, Chichen Itza, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.) So, we were only able to enjoy the pools one day. All 3 pools were very clean and family-friendly. We also had breakfast at La Paloma. They have a really good Mexican breakfast buffet, but it is expensive like everything in Cancun. Also, I really recommend that you go to Chichen Itza and Xcaret because they are beautiful places. Don't forget to stay for the night show in Xcaret!

Still fnendly and accomodating
Rickontheroad Oct 21, 2009
With all the hotels along the strip part of me wanted to try another resort on my first trip back to Cancun in 20 years. But ... the other part remembered how friendly the staff had been and what a wonderful trip that was. Well, the second part won out. Now married I returned with my wife to find that this hasn't changed. Yes, the beach is about half as wide as it was before hurricane Wilma(see pre Wilma photos on hotel website) but they still keep what's left looking good. Just imagine a narrower beach and the photos are still representative of how the hotel looks. I still feel it's the best designed pool area of the all the hotels on this end of the strip down to Club Med and that was another major draw. But in the end it was the customer service that brought me back. With the beautiful Carribean sea as the common backdrop of all these hotels, it's the friendly faces and good times that make all the difference. I hope the hotel manager shares these reviews with the employees because if wasn't for them I'm sure I would have chosen another resort this time around. And it's probably what will bring me back next time as I'm sure it has many others over the years.

Although an older hotel, the current presentation and overall building is in excellent shape. Many pools and so many places ... to sit around in the sun. Bathrooms all over the grounds and the single bunch of friendly staff members you will ever experience. Rooms were spotless and the views terrific. We especially enjoyed the daily towel-animal figures. Go, enjoy and you will not be sorry.

Ready to go again! Sep 28, 2009
We have enjoyed the Omni Hotel for several years, and part of the reason we have continued to return is because of their ... excellent staff. Unfortunately, one of our favorites that always took such good care of us, is no longer there, but other staff were very helpful. We had a few maintenance problems with our room, but they took care of the problems in a very timely manner. However, we did have a "sewer" smell from our bathroom sink that caused us to have to close the drain all the time because of the odor, but it was still okay - we just couldn't make ourselves call the 3rd time for service since we were only there for 4 nights!! But otherwise it was very enjoyable!

The hotel is very nice and is in a great location. The service and staff were also excellent. Great swimming pools, ... beautiful beach, nice view. The only thing I did not like was the hotel floor is of marble and thus did not absorb noise well. I could hear the noisy guests outside of the room, other guests moving furniture, and music from restaurant way across the street. These noise made it hard for me to sleep well.

Family Vacation at Omni Resort
Miranda Family Aug 20, 2009
There are many hotels from which to choose in Cancun. Omni has been one of our favorites for the last few years because of ... it's value. It's located in the middle of the hotel zone and an easy bus ride into town if you want to take in shopping, other dining and night life. The staff is very attentive, speak English and are not pushy about selling you food, etc. This time we went with the all-inclusive and it made our family dining very easy. Most of the buffet was the same and they could change that up a bit however almost everything was tasty and there was variety for most meals. Open bar for us was a big plus as that's where you can spend your dollars really fast at most establishments in Cancun. With respect to Da Vinci's, the top restaurant at Omni, the meats were all good however except for the ravioli, I cannot recommend the rest (seafood, pate, soups except the minestrone). Great wait staff at this restuarant! Again, this hotel is a very good value for the money with 24/7 room service included in the all-inclusive package.

We had a nice time and have stayed at this hotel before. It has nice service and a great pool but now their beach is ... destroyed. We picked this hotel again because of the great beach location they had and all the room on the beach but now the entire strip of cancun beach is filled with rocks and makes it dangerous to play by the ocean. wont go back until mexico fixes it!

If you are on a budget, search for the Sanborn's and VIPs restaurants near the downtown area (take the local buses for just about 50 cents per person and a fun ride). These are great places to eat with food just as good as the most expensive places around but at a modest price and quality!

I like that room service was the same as dining at the hotel.
--Vacation Planner, Houston, Tx Jul 22, 2009
It is definitely worth it to pay for the all-inclusive package. Food otherwise is more expensive then one would think. A plus for this hotel is the quality of the food, much higher than others and I believe that is because its not entirely all-inclusive. So you get truely restaurant quality food and great service! And one thing that we really liked i that there is 24hour room service that is included in all-inclusive something we didnt have a more expensive resorts
--Vacationers A lot, Memphis, Tn Jul 17, 2009
Save your money for shopping by taking a bus downtown rather than a taxi.
--Claude, Wichita, KS Jul 8, 2009
If you also purchase one of the activities through Orbitz there is a tour guide who meets with you to arrange the details when you arrive. He is also very helpful in showing you what other trips and activities are available. This is nice because it seems that every one else that you turn to for advice wants to offer you a time share also.
--Bobby, Salt Lake City, UT Jun 30, 2009
Shop within Hotel Zone do not go downtown and expect cheaper prices. Avoid Market28 thinking this is where the locals buy. Too many shops selling the same things, Not worth the effort or trip. Shop owners are on you like flies to "sugar, honey, ice tea". Always pushing you to buy, not a relaxing experience. Things can be had for less or a little a more w/o the hassle.
--Road Warrior, NYC Jun 28, 2009
Dont book Attractions and Excursions online (especially with Grey Line Tours), there is other tour companies located in the hotels and throughout the Hotel Strip that offer better packages and options. Example: I booked a Chencha-Itza Plus Package but wanted the Chencha-Itza Plus with Night Light Show but was told that it was only available on Wednesday. When I got to Chencha-Itza I found out the Plus with Night Light Show was hosted everyday and night, it was just not available with the Grey Line online Tour that I purchased.
