Terrible. Booked me in the wrong room
Rolo Nov 4, 2009
Terrible, booked me in the wrong room and then refused to refund my money. I wanted a double and they gave me a king. Hotel ... has a policy to only allow two people, me included in you party to go to your room after 10pm. That means that with the king, my brother and freind, whom i BOOKED A DOUBLE FOR TO STAY THERE, could not go up to our room after 10pm. They were screwed. They then said I had to check with the hotel prior to showing up to see if they had given me the double. I was not refunded for my cancellation. Where the hell was my brother and friend supposed to stay. Ridiculous, another billion dollar company that screws the little people out of more money.

Downtown Convenience
Constant Travellers Nov 1, 2009
We paid extra for a room on the club floor. The service there and in the hotel in general was outstanding. The room was ... small but comfortable, quiet and clean, with an excellent bed. The bathroom was dark with not enough water pressure to take a good shower. We wanted to stay in a hotel where we didn't have to drive to restaurants and local attractions. The Omni location is good and it's possible to walk just about everywhere in downtown. It is also close to the trail around the City Lake, for those who like to walk or run for exercise. Our only major complaint is being charged for internet access in the room, when even the motels on the interstate offer it for free.

I called ahead of time to tell them we would be arriving late (9pm) and when we got there they had given away my double bed ... room and left us with a 1 king size bed! I booked this room 2 months in advance! There should have been no reason for them to give my room away like that...

Location the Best Aspect
Book Fans Oct 31, 2009
Great location for attending the Texas Book Festival; however, the room and bathroom were very small, with almost no counter ... space. There was also not even a luggage rack on which to put a suitcase. While trying to sleep, there were noisy pipes, most likely from the heater. The lobby is nice; however, the room decor is really minimal. There was one picture in the room and nothing over the bed.

Austin Downtown Omni
Austin business traveler Oct 26, 2009
I was in Austin for a business meeting. The hotel staff that greeted me on my arrival was very helpful. The entrance and ... lobby are clean and well appointed. The hotel is clearly a bit older and in need of updating. I reserved a "King Deluxe" room at a rate of $186/night (including taxes). The room itself was in some disrepair - cracks on the ceiling in the bathroom and missing hardware on my bathroom door. I was on the 15th floor. There was quite a bit of street noise that went well past midnight each night. Austin is known for it's live music and they like to play well into the night. I was disappointed that internet access had to be paid for (after spending $180+/night). You can get around this fee by signing up for their frequent flyer program. This affords you the right to received regular emails to your inbox. Along with the "now complimentary" internet access, they also give you up to 2 beverages each morning as well as a choice of newspapers (NYT, USA Today, WSJ and a local rag). They got my morning order correct on 1 of the 3 nights I spent. The last morning they failed to fill my order at all. The hotel bar and restaurant were good. The service at the bar was very good. Meals were modestly expensive ($12 for a grilled chicken sandwich, $11 for a turkey sandwich on a croissant). All in all, it was a decent place if not a bit overpriced. If it was more like $120/night I would say it was a great deal.

Great place to stay for ACL!
Lisa B. Oct 9, 2009
We went to Austin for the ACL festival. The hotel was close to the shuttle (actually walked to ACL the first day - took ... about 30 min). Also close to the State Capital building, 6th street entertainment, Congress Street (where the bats come out at night) and near public transportation (though we never used it). Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

If you're heading to ACL - book here. About a 5 minute walk to the shuttle, which is more efficient than we could have ever imagined. Never waited in line for it.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Omni for Austin City Limits Festival. The staff was great and so was the room. You ... couldn't ask for a better location, just 2 blocks from 6th street and few blocks from Stubbs. The express bus to airport is block away. Cost us $.75 to ride bus 20 min to airport vs $30 cab. Would definitely stay on next trip.

Austin stay in Sept 09
Just visiting Sep 28, 2009
Besides moving rooms three times in four nights, we did enjoy the hotel. I reserved a king room, but on check-in was given a ... double room due to construction noise on the side of the hotel where they'd held a king room for me. This was considerate, so I agreed to the room swap. However, after my 6'5" husband and I tried sleeping on a full size bed, the hotel was able to accommodate us with a king room the next morning, when we requested the change.

Too many problems for the price
JE Sep 2, 2009
The Good: Great location, excellent concierge service, good breakfast buffet, clean rooms, and peaceful pool. The Bad: When ... we first arrived, we were told that they didn't have any non- smoking king rooms, and although that was our request, it was not guaranteed- I have severe allergies, which I mentioned when booking. We had to settle for a downgraded room, and it took several members of staff to later switch us to the room we paid for initially. We were walked in on THREE times by various members of staff, who were apparently not trained to knock or understand what a "privacy" sign on the door meant. Perhaps we wouldn't have been so cranky about this, if we didn't lose sleep for five consecutive nights in a bed that was about as comfortable as a concrete slab. As far as small issues, we clearly heard the extremely ill woman next to us vomitting all through one night (aka: hotel is noisy), I woke up with mysterious insect bites each morning, and the "fruit and cheese" plate the hotel sent us to apologize for our troubles arrived two hours after it was promised, warm, via room service who boldly entered the room without knocking (during the WRONG time, might I add.) All in all, if you're going to spend a decent amount for a room in Autin, stick to a Hyatt.

Loved the location - perfect for going out at night. Just blocks from everything. Amazing restaurants and music ... venues/bars. Walking distance to the lake/river where we went kayaking for the morning and took a run by along the path by the water others. Great work out room with newer equipment. Didn't use the pool as it was small and too crowded for me but it was a nice area on the roof with great views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice size, nice amenities and VERY comfortable beds. Great value for the rate.
