good vacation with one small issue

We have been to North Myrtle Beach and have always had a great time. This time was no different. The shaggers were in out ... and about and the Duffy's raw bar was serving up some roasted oysters and blues. The only drawback for the star rating was that we were supposed to have a non-smoking room but it obviously was when they needed it because there was an ashtray and smoke smell. They were booked so we couldn't transfer to another room. However, it wasn't a weekend killer as we just opened the door to the ocean and let the breeze dampen the odor.

There are plenty of quaint bars, restaurants, etc. right on Main Street. But for drive about 10 minutes up 17 North to the Little River waterfront (Minola Dr) and eat at a little place called Crab Catchers. Try and get an outdoor seat and watch the boats come in as you enjoy a cold beverage and some great seafood.

Was skeptical being not known much about this hotel. Reviews weren't too helpful either.Was bit surprised with the great ... location and view of beach from room. Staff were OK. They weren't too enthuastic, but helpful. Room lay out could have been better. Parking was bit difficult to get, specially at the peak hour. Wireless internet wasn't great to connect.Over all experiance was OK.

Hotel staff, knowledgeable and helpful. Room was clean, neat and exceeded expectations. Cost for rental of beach umbrella and ... chair too high. Restaurant ok ,however, only open for breakfast, perhaps due to time of year and amount of tourists at hotel. Parking readily available, however, feel due to time of year and amount of vactioners. Did not like folks utilizing their towels to reserve chairs around the pool, however, once again because of the amount of vactioners, was not a problem. Overall rate hotel as A+ and will consider staying again.

Even though we requested non-smoking the first room they gave us was smoking - the worst smoking I have ever been in and not ... very clean or well furnished. They said because we booked online with Orbitz they couldn't guarantee nonsmoking. They (particularly one nice lady) changed our room but we paid extra for an ocean view and a suite and the new room was a "side view" and not a suite but again they would not adjust the price because we booked online. Anyway, we had fun and the small room was clean but I would not stay there again.

Our romantic getaway was everything we hoped for! We arrived ahead of schedule and were so happy that they allowed us to ... check in 2 hours early. Found the room clean, neat, bed was amazingly comfy! Loved that there was a sink both inside the bathroom and outside! Elevators are remarkably fast, staff was very friendly and helpful, several places close by to order food in. Only thing that could have made it better is if the clouds were gone to watch the sun rise and set on the beautiful view from our balcony.

went to Myrtle beach to spend a quiet weekend away from home. The Hotel was in a good location, and the room was very nice ... and clean over looking the ocean. The hotel personnel were helpful and friendly, and I had a nice time but I got sun burnt pretty bad so I may not be going back any time soon, but the hotel definitely had everything that you would want from a resort hotel on the beach. And I would recommend it to anyone who may be going to Myrtle beach

my family and i had a great time at the ocean drive beach and golf resort. everything about the hotel was first rate; very ... friendly and efficient staff, fast elevators, beautiful view from the room, and good food in the hotel restaurant. my wife and 11 year old daughter really liked the various pools, the favorite being the lazy river, but the star attraction was the smooth, wide beach front. the sand was very fine, no rocks or broken glass, and at least 100 yards wide at low tide. the hotel is located within easy walk distance of several good restaurants and night clubs, which saved gas and traffic delays. the exercise room had an excellent weight lifting machine and several aerobic machines, all in good working order. when we go back to the beach next year, we will certainly stay here again. the hotel is a good value in all respects, and i would certainly recommend it to a friend.

My review of Ocean Drive Beach & Golf Resort

I though the facility was great. My problem was the indoor pool and sauna were out of service my hold stay (5 days). The ... weather was great with the ocean temperature being about 70 degrees however the indoor pool was much colder. Buffet breakfast was kind of dry but, there's a GREAT Pancake House within walking distance. I'd go again
