The Davenport is in a great location, near Grafton Street, Temple Bar and St. Stephen's Green but far enough to be quiet. ... Hotel room was large by European standards, basically the size of a US hotel room. Staff was helpful enough. Only negative was that the restaurant service was horribly slow, but we only ate there once.

It has a pretty good location right in the center of Dublin, only a couple blocks away from Trinity college and St Stephen's ... Green. The fee for using the internet is a little pricey, about $18 per day, but the room I had came with an American outlet, so if you forgot your power converter, you are covered. If you are expecting something similar to stays in American hotels, look elsewhere, it is definitely not an Americanized hotel.

Hotel was in a great neighborhood, close to museums, Trinity college and bus stops. Coffee shops across the street so you ... don't need the hotel breakfast. If you don't bring a computer, the lobby has one available for use. Staff very friendly and helpful.

THIS was our first trip. . I put this together for us..THE HOTEL WAS FANTASTIC...CENTRALLY LOCATED TO ALL TOURIST ATTRACTIONS ... VIA HOP ON HOP OFF OR WALKING TOURS....THE SHOPPES ON NASSAU ST WERE PERFECT AND THE DISCOUNT AFFORDED BY THE DUBLIN PASS AND VAT TAX ON LARGE PURCHASES AFORRDED ME MANY DISCOUNTS SHOPPING THE HOTEL WAS THE BEST. MY ONLY COMPARISON IS TO THE CLARENCE HOTEL WHERE MY WIFE AND I ATTENDED A HIGH TEA..WHILE THE CLARENCE IS ALSO CONSIDERED A LUXURY HOTEL IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE DAVENPORT IN BEAUTY OR CLOSENESS TO WALKING TO GRAFTON ST..ST STEPENS SQ..GAIETY THEATER..TRINITY COLLEGE...NATIONAL MUSEUM AND OTHER ATTRACTIONS. THE SERVICE PROVIDED BY MY HOTEL IN BOOKING AN EXTRA SIDE TRIP TO THE RING OF KERRY WAS EFFICIENT. Good Location-but smoky hotel!

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. However the hotel hallways and rooms smell of smoke even in the non-smoking ... areas. The hotel offered free internet (lifesaver) and it is close to pubs, restaruants, shopping, bus lines, and a cute little park to walk or exercise at. Overall it is a pretty good hotel- especially if you are only there to sleep.

Make sure you check out Temple bar area but stick to the pubs in other areas- they are just as fun and much cheaper. Also take a day trip to Belfast, Londonderry, and the rope bridge (paddywagon trip)--- skip the trip to Wicklow- its not that thrilling.

Terrific hotel choice for Dublin

The Davenport was a perfect place for me to stay, it was far enough away from the Temple Bar madness but close enough to ... transportation and sights that I could walk most places or get there easily with transport connections. The room was comfortable and spacious, quiet at night. I was able to check in early and the staff was helpful with my questions about getting around. There was even free internet access, not something you see a lot in hotels these days.

If you take the Air Coach from the airport and are pressed for time on the way back, walk to the Suffolk Street or Dawson Street stops and save yourself 20+ minutes as the bus is still dropping off passengers at the Merrion Square stop

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were even able to check me into my room when I arrived at 11am, even though ... the normal check-in isn't until 2. Very clean, quiet, and had every amenity I needed. Rooms were very spacious. They wanted to charge 12euro/day for internet access, but it's free from their lobby or business center computers so I just used that. Only other downside was how expensive the hotel restaurant was; even the breakfast buffet was 17euro so I ate elsewhere. Other than that, not a single complaint. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

the service was great - we arrived much earlier than the regular check-in time but we were able to get into our room ... immediately, which was a huge convenience. would have liked a place to keep food as it was expensive to eat there. but it was very comfortable and a great location - close to the train and w/in walking distance of everything else.

While a little off the beaten path, the hotel is a lovely property with an extremely friendly staff. We had requested early ... check in for our 11 am arrival. Since we had 2 rooms I called to say that check in to one room on arrival was fine. We were checked in to both rooms and were able to rest up for a few hours after our overnight flight which permitted us to enjoy a late afternoon and evening out and about. Free internet in the lobby. Food is okay, but we found that to be the case in most places. I think it is a difference of cuisine rather than quality. The beds are great ! It is not way out of the way, but a cab ride from the heart of things. I can say that the interaction with the Dublin cabbies was an absolute pleasure and made the additional cost all the more tolerable. We had 6 or 7 seven different drivers and each provided insight into the city and country in a wonderfully entertaining and friendly style.

Very much enjoyed my stay here, and felt that I got a bargain for the price that I paid. The building itself was very ... striking on the outside. Inside, the hotel was very nicely decorated and felt luxurious. Front desk staff were very gracious, courteous and helpful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The room was in very good condition, and housekeeping kept the room tidy. We didn't use the gym facilities that were available. Also did not eat in the hotel - thought the price of breakfast was rather pricey. Found a couple of places to have tasty and inexpensively priced breakfasts nearby on Nassau Street - Cafe Crepe and tne cafe on the second floor of Kilkenny Store. In general, found the price of food to be quite expensive in comparison to the US and even London. Hotel is very convenient to nearby attractions - Merrion Square is right across the street, and #29 Fitzwilliam, National Gallery of Art, National Library, National Museum of Archeology, Trinity College and Grafton Street are all within a five to ten minute walk. There is an Aircoach bus dropoff point right around the corner, which made the arrival from Dublin Airport very easy. However, the pickup point back to the airport is a ten to fifteen minute walk in front of the Tourist Information center - could be a hassle if you have lots of luggage. Did not use the bus system - it didn't seem to have routes that were convenient, nor could we make sense of the bus maps. But because so much of what we wanted to see was within walking distance of the hotel, that worked out fine. The hop-on, hop-off buses stop a block away, which we used one day to get out and see the remote attractions like the Kilmainham Gaol. We also liked the hotel's location away from the Temple Bar area, so it was very quiet at night. Also took a day trip using Bus Eireann to see Powerscourt, Glendalough and Wicklow - the bus terminal was an easy fifteen minute walk across the Liffey river. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a base for sightseeing in Dublin.
