Fantastic Girls Vacation!
KTN Nov 1, 2009
This was my first girls vacation and we had an excellent time! The rooms were beautiful. The pool and beach were ... excellent. We went when there was a low occupancy and it was great because we were able to get chairs anytime we wanted on the beach or at the pool and we were able to make friends with the staff... who were awesome by the way!!! The only downside to the low occupancy was that only one bar was open between the pool and the beach and the night club was a bit empty, however, we didn't have to worry about restaurants being busy or service being slow. And we were able to meet many wonderful people including the staff and truly get to know them. We actually can't wait to go back. I've been to other hotels that I would say have much better food and more premium liquors, however, the friends we made here and the rooms definitely will take us back there!

We had a fabulous time. We stayed for 10 nights in a beach front Paradise Club suite from 9/19/09 - 9/29/09. The room as ... well as the view were absolutely beautiful! At the time we were there, there was very few other guests. So, the only downfall is that some of the pool bars and the Sports bar weren't open as stated. But we completely understood, since there weren't too many guests, and i'm sure the staff was cut back too. The service was great, as well as all of the new friends that we met.

Disappointing Resort with Great Rooms
disappointed traveller Sep 12, 2009
The best thing about the hotel was the room, and undoubtedly the bathrooms rivaled those of st. regis. There were only a ... handful of friendly staff members. The pool swim up bar was filthy with bees swarming everywhere. The beers were always warm. They continuously ran out of cheese for the burgers, and the guacamole looked like split pea soup. The vodka had a minty taste. There was limited juice selection. The room "refrigerators" did not get cold in any of the rooms. So even the beverages in the refrigerator weren't cold. The only good restaurant was the asian restaurant. The Italian restaurant was edible. However, getting reservations for the restaurants was a complete nightmare. You have to make reservations before 11 in the lobby, no calling-in. They're supposed to have the sheet by 9am, they never had the sheet by 9, and rarely by 10. The entertainment was a complete joke and the costumes were raggedy with holes. Crazy thing was that despite everything else being hot, the jacuzzi was luke warm and wouldn't get hot. Oh and the kids club is a joke too. Child care costs about $20/hr which is more than I'd pay in the states. If we could have stayed in the room, maybe the vacation would have been better. I truly wish I could get my money back. Oh should I add that on the day we checked out, day 3 of the air not working in the lobby, it was so hot that I fainted as I was arguing with the staff over the towel card, that I couldn't find and was too hot to look for. I know I'm forgetting so much more, but do yourself a favor and do not stay at this hotel. I truly wish I could get my money and my week back.

Not what I expected, otherwise perfect

It says that the tips for service are to be included in your stay, however, if you do not tip or even if the staff perceives ... that you won't tip enough, they often ignore you or give you less attentive service. Getting a taxi was difficult, as the staff would call and then no one would come. At first, the food is interesting and exotic, or at least different, but after awhile it does get very old. Sometimes I would have been happy if I could have made myself a sandwich or something to remind me a little of home. The room service started off excellent, but as the week continued and the staff realized we didn't have much to tip each time, our room service stopped coming as often. Once, we had to call three times over a period of about 2 and 1/2 hours to get them to even bring it. There were a few things about the place I didn't like, such as service centers and what not. The pool was only open until 8, but the towel center closed at 6, leaving you towelless if you intended to get in the pool at 6 and out at 8. The pool bar closes at 6 also, so once again, kind of a pain. You aren't supposed to go on the beach at night, but its no big deal if you do. Overall, I only wished some of the staff was a little more competent, and I wished all of them were more courteous.

We had a fantastic time, beach is beautiful and the pools are top-notch. Entertainment staff is a blast and made sure we ... played every game we wanted whenever we wanted. The hotel has a large amount of Mexican tourists and caters to them alot, not a bad thing, we were definitly the minority while there though. Food was really great and the service was not bad. The rooms were great and the showers were great...the bathtub though...looked alot like pee water!!!haha. DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THE PARADISE CLUB!!! Everyone we talked to was disappointed with spending the extra money and they spent all their time on the regular side. Pool area is very slippery so be prepared.

Perfect vacation finder Jul 12, 2009
NH Riviera is a paradise. The staff is very professional and hospitalilty is unbelievable. I had reserved 3 rooms for my ... family, they gave us adjacent rooms near the pool. Check in and check out was no hassle at all. The room service (all inclusive) was precise under 30 mins. When my daughter got sick, the hotel arranged for a doctor in 30 mins. The concierge arranged for all tours and when I needed changes or cancellations they were very prompt. The retsaurants here are very nicely decorated. The 5 pools are beautiful and the beach is simply a paradise. The beach front massage was very relaxing and my 5th wedding anniversary could not get better. This hotel is 40 mins from the airport and an hour from all tour locations, so if you can rent a car from the airport it will be gr8. But its away from all chaos and perfect for a out of way vacation spot.

This is a great location for a quiet, restful beach vacation. The resort, being newly opened, is clean with spacious rooms. ... Our only complaint was with check-in. They placed in a room with only 1 king size bed for a family of 4. I showed them that I had booked a room with 2 double beds, they said they had none available but for us to check with them the next day at 2:00. I heard another employee say they were expecting 400 quests the next day, how did they expect to have one the next day. Our 1st room had no working air conditioning, we called but they did not repair it despite their attempts to hit unit with hammer! The next day, forget the ocean view or 2 double beds, I only wanted a room with working air. Finally, my husband, spoke with a manager and we were moved to a room with 2 double beds with air! And the rest of vacation was great. Beautiful beach, friendly staff, and all inclusive room service was an extra bonus! I would recommend this resort.

We went here on our honeymoon and the first two days were amazing! We paid extra to upgrade to teh Paradise Club adults only ... section and our room was amazing (great ocean front, jacuzzi on the balcony, separate living and bed room and a huge bathroom!)and the service was great we had a welcome gift for our honeymoon then we received a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries and everything was perfect! Then on the third day we got a call saying that they needed to move us to another room because there was a water main break (or something) so we went to the front desk and they took us to the other side of the resort to our new room - which smelled, the AC didn't work and it was much smaller! I told them this was unacceptable and they told us they had to close the entire paradise club (which was 4 buildings of rooms) and that we didn't have a choice. Ridiculous! We later found out this was a lie because we walked by and saw that people were not only still in the other buildings in the paradise club but they were also still in building 7 - the one we were kicked out of. Important note I didn't mention before - the hotel was EMPTY - probably only about 25% capacity (if that) when we got there. There was only one restaurant open each night and there was only one lunch option - which got VERY old by the end of the week. The staff was not helpful with the whole move or with making it any better for us by offering alternative solutions. From that point on the front desk staff was very rude - [...] especially! UGH he was horrible!!!The pools were amazing though and we were able to make the most out of our new accomodations once the AC was fixed and once we realized we were stuck there so we had to make the most of it.The resort is in the middle of no where - Puerto Morales the closest town is still a 5-10 min bus ride away and it is a dirty little town. BUT there was GREAT snorkeling. We signed up at the resort (the water activities desk on the beach) and for $2 we got a boat ride out to the reef and 50 minutes of snorkeling - can't beat that price! All in all we made the most of it and it was nice but I don't plan on ever returning. the resort is new and it is gorgeous but they still have some kinks to work out!

jf May 28, 2009
First impression means everything. Our first impression was not so great. I think all the staff members were sleeping and it ... was 4pm. No welcome drinks or ordervers for our 10hr long trip to the resort. It was beautiful. Very clean but very slippery. Be careful. We had 2 members of the family slip and fall on the outside grounds of the property and no one came to make sure we were ok. Later we seen an elderly lady fall as well. As far as dinner 12 restraunts and bars, only 1 restraunt was open pr night along with buffet. Not so nice. When we wanted drinks there was only 1 bar open as well, not so nice when ur swimming and u have to walk all the way to the lobby for a beverage. The rooms were very clean and very luxurious. It had a mini bar but it was never stocked with beer or achocol, only water and soda. Kinda of a disapointment. Room service was not a very good selection either. I guess i would say a very limited selection. But all in all it was a beautiful property nice rooms and the beach was exceptional. No rocks like all the reviews said. I would recomend this property but dont get your hopes up.

Toledosfinest May 16, 2009
The hotel is beautiful with the rooms being the best in the Caribbean that I have ever seen. Its a shame that the Media has ... scared people away with the Flu thing going on. NOBODY in Cancun has the Flu that we saw. Do to the low number of guests, only one restaurant was open most nights. I will say that the food was very good though. Since the low numbers, they are doing a lot of matainenceon the pool and rooms. I would stay at this hotel again.

Closest place to buy anything is in the town of Puerto Morales, but it is a 30+ min walk , and at 90 degrees, it might be worth the small fare to take the bus at the resort.

Anonymous May 4, 2009
The Good: The rooms were very big and luxurious. The Club paradise pool and beach were beautiful. The food was very good for ... an all-inclusive. The drinks were good and plentiful. We met some really great people. The Bad: Service was very inconsistent. Some people were very friendly and helpful, while others seamed annoyed and put out. They definately still have some kinks to work out in their reservation and organization of guests services. They did try to put us into an ocean view room when we paid for an ocean front and we did have to eat late a few nights to get into the Ala Carte restaurants. It was no big deal to us. We did talk to some others that got reservations to restaurants that were closed and/or they weren't on the restuarant list when they arrived. While researching the hotel, we did see some reviews with people experiencing some theft in their rooms. This included money being stolen directly out of the room safes. With this in mind, I did worry about this happening to us and we took extra precautions like splitting our cash up and locking money up into our luggage. We didn't have any problems but it did impact our trip none the less. Overall experience: My wife and I came to the NH for our 10 year anniversary. We wanted a relaxing, sunny atmosphere with no kids and no responsability. We are both very laid back and easy going. We are not demanding in any way and we aren't easily offended. With all that in mind, we had a great time at the NH Riviera.

They hotel was very nice! The rooms were spotless as the hotel is brand new. The room service was also great. The beds were ... extremely comfortable. During the day, many activity were provided by the staff which were a lot of fun. The bar service was slow at times but had a great staff working. The beach definately needs some work as it was quite rocky in areas. I did not like the fact that reservations had to be made for all of the restaurants except for the buffet. Reservations were also difficult to get. The hotel is well worth the money and is very elegant and clean.
