Located in the heart of the Back Bay of Boston on fashionable Newbury Street. The Newbury Guest House offers a very unique lodging experience. Take a page out of history and step back in time as you walk in a neighborhood that has not changed much since the 1800s. Newbury Street bustles with outdoor cafes, art galleries, designer boutiques, quaint coffee shoppes and an excellent array of pubs and restaurants that are sure to satisfy every taste. The Guest House is also centrally located to Boston's major universities, colleges, hospitals and businesses which make our location the place to stay whether for business or pleasure.
The Newbury Guest House is housed in three former single-family Victorian residences built in the Queen Anne and rustic styles. Renovated in the early 1990s, these three homes were combined to create a 32-room hotel in the heart of Boston. Now independently owned and operated by a local Bostonian, this historic inn still contains many original details such as ceiling medallions, parquet and hardwood floors and decorative fireplaces.

Newbury Guest House
California traveler Jun 4, 2009
The outside is very inviting. Dragging suitcase up steps was a pain, and there was no offer of help from staff inside hotel ... to assist. The room was clean, small and reasonable for location. Floors creak, but room was clean. Breakfast was disappointing and environment unacceptable...chairs were stacked (piled in a bunch) in room where food was served. The qualify of food was what you would get at a budget hotel. The staff were preoccupied reading their computer screens and acted offended when asked a simple question, like how to get to the subway. Would never stay there again.

This hotel was somewhat basic as fas as amenities but it is located in a wonderful shopping and dining area. Their breakfast ... was a little skimppy. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Great boutiques, as well as major Simon mall including Saks, Neimans, Barneys and so on. Nice to shop in mall when bad weather or really cold.

A short walk to Fenway Park, and near all the shopping and dining you could ask for.

Great Boston location for shopping and dining near Cambridge schools
William Oct 19, 2008
The Newbury Guest House was a convenient choice for viewing the Head of the Charles crew races, parents weekend at MIT and ... enjoying shopping, great dining and excellent art galleries on and near Newbury Street. Although it was not particularly luxurious, it was somewhat charming, the staff were accommodating, and it was comfortable during the limited time we actually spent in the hotel/guest house. We didn't really take advantage of the breakfast offered each morning. When we arrived we were given a room facing Newbury Street. The noise was substantial from kids hanging out on the street and from loud vehicles. The next morning, the staff was happy to change our room to face the back of the building. The second night was much more peaceful and a larger room as well... You really can't beat this location for being on a very chic street with plenty of activity, near wonderful restaurants, cafes, and night spots.

This hotel is located on our favorite street in Boston, which is one of the reasons we chose it, and it is within walking ... distance of Fenway Park and we were in Boston to attend 2 ballgames. We had passed the hotel on many occasions and always wanted to try it and this time we did. It is old, but charming. Our room overlooked Newbury Street which was lovely. A full breakfast was included in the price of the room hich was very good and had with nice strong coffee and all the newspapers at your disposal to read. The staff was courteous. We would definatly staff here again.

Wait Until Repairs Are Completed
alan Jun 26, 2007
The hotel was nice enough, however the construction going on was definitely an impediment. I suggest people wait to stay here ... until the hotel is fully opperational again. Things like hot water taking very long to reach the room were a faailing.
