Pretty Good, good prices
Tabby Nov 5, 2009
Our experience were enjoyable. We really never spend too much time in our room while in Vegas, so if you're that type, the ... location and price are not a bad deal. The Roller Coaster is a minus, as much fun as it must be to ride, you can hear it around most of the hotel- so if you're just looking for a place to relax, I suggest another one of the hotels. They have pretty good and cheap places to eat, e. g., you can get a huge crab legs and steak with a side, soup or salad and beverage for a very, VERY reasonable price. The little bakery round the NY Sts has excellent pastries. I would give it 3-3.5 stars, but because I left an expensive garmet behind and they shipped it to me the next day, I give them 4.

Great hotel not so good food service
Kayla A. Nov 3, 2009
We loved NYNY! The room was great very classy we being pretty much at the center of the strip we were close to everything. We ... were going to stay at Circus Circus, but we ended up walking there from NYNY and it is extremely far, so if planning you are planning on being involved in night life make sure to stay at the center of the stip. The only real issue we had was with food service, we went to two resturaunts in the hotel and both had awful service! Glasses never got refilled through out the entire meals, when we complained about a hostess we were told by a manager that she is never rude and it was a an accident. The food was also really expensive which could be expected in Vegas but to pay that much money for awful service was just silly. Oh and if you are planning on needing to use a computer and internet plan on spending a dollar a min.!

HORRIBLE SERVICE! STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Kimo Nov 2, 2009
PROS: We paid extra and got a Broadway Deluxe room - extra large with a view of the strip. Definitely worth the extra ... dollars. That's about where the good stuff ended.CONS: There was only one clerk on duty when we checked in and at least 12 groups in line. This should have been the tip-off that service would be bad. Took forever! We got back to our room after 11:00pm the second night and it was still not cleaned. We called to complain and were told that the maid must not have checked back after we left the room. They offered to come clean it, but we were ready for bed and declined. No offer to comp anything or even a sincere apology.[...] Was told no kings were available and it was never entered in the system so we'd just have to live with it. The night clerk told me to tell the day clerk if the bed was unsuitable the next day and they could work out some type of comp. When I complained to the day clerk, I was told no note was entered in the system by the night clerk, so there was nothing they could do until the clerk reported for work. Unfortunately, he was not scheduled for 2 days - and by then we'd be gone. There is absolutely NOTHING special about NYNY. For the same rate we could have gotten as good a room with much better service. We will never stay or gamble here again. They have lost our business forever. And if you're smart you'll go elsewhere also.

Decent Hotel and Convenient
New Mexico Roamer Oct 31, 2009
This hotel is located at a great spot on the strip. The ESPN Zone is a blast, as I'm a huge sports fan, and my girlfriend ... loved Rok. The staff at the restaurants were mean and unhappy at best with the exception of the ESPN Zone. The slots seemed REALLY tight because we got killed playing here and didn't at other casinos. We upgraded our room to the Century Tower and expected a lot more out of the room than we got. It was small and looked like a nice motel 6. No LCD TV, bad cable channels, scratchy towels. The view was awesome though.

There's a food court across the street next to the MGM Grand that will save you a ton of $$$ versus eating at the casino(s). Cross the bridge to MGM, then again to Tropicana for a better Player's Club, gambling experience, and better luck on the slots.

Donna Oct 31, 2009
We stayed at the New York New York to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It has such a unique, fun atmosphere. Great variety in ... restaurants, bars and shops. Most casino's are overwhelming, however NYNY is easy to navigate to your "tower" the way it is laid out with the multi-level main area. Very friendly staff, rooms very clean. Our day and night views of the roller coaster at the front of the hotel was very cool, with MGM and Excalibur on different corners. We were able to see the beautiful sunrise over the mountains our last morning! Would definitely recommend to others.

Utilize the Monorail system. From New York New York, use the walkway through the MGM casino. Follow the signs to the Monorail. Depending on how long you are there, get an all day pass or multi-day passes. Ride the Monorail to your destination and walk back, or get on and off. The strip takes so much longer to walk than you think! Or from any hotel lobby, catch a cab, it will save tons of time and the drivers are all very nice. The bus that runs along the strip is okay, however there are so many stops, it takes a long time. The buses are very jerky, I wouldn't do it again.

Great place to stay and not to pricey
Jacqueline, Soon-to-be-marrried Oct 30, 2009
Overall I really liked the hotel. It has many amenities a pool, gambling, shops, shows, nightclubs, bars and some cheap ... places to eat. We went with a basic hotel room. The bathrooms are very nice, but the room itself is a little small. But, it was very clean and well maintained. The only thing is you can hear the rollercoaster run all night long. It sounds like you are by the "L" in Chicago... it just doesn't run nearly as often. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It has a neat theme like the Venetian or Paris hotels... but at a much more affordable rate. It is missing, a real retail area. The hotel only has gift shops and one clothing boutique. But, there is so many places to shop on the strip, I didn't mind.
Traveler type: Couples
They hand out lots of coupons inside hotels and on the strip. If you weed out some sales solicitations, you can get some good deals. My fiance and I ended up with 2 for 1 show tickets. We bought the cheapest seats in the house... and the ushers ended up moving us up to the 6th row. It was a Wednesday night show and definitely not sold out. We also ended up with VIP tickets to a night club...by just taking a coupon someone offered at a hotel.

Not What I Expected -- In A Bad Way!
Moe5155 Oct 29, 2009
I've been to Vegas before and stayed at 3 other hotels and I was ready to give NYNY a chance. After this trip, my first ... visit will be my last. When checking in, I was told non-smoking rooms were all taken, but for an extra $100 I could upgrade and get a non-smoking room. The towels looked like someone else had used them and after calling the front desk, housekeeping dealt with it by refolding the towels -- I've heard of water conservation but I don't share towels with people I like much less total strangers. I had the unpleasant experience of finding an imprint of someone else's dirty body parts on the towel after my shower. ICK! This hotel was not a good experience. Stay somewhere else.

Avoid any temptation to get a rental car or have a non-local friend drive you around the strip. There's a lot of people walking accross the intersections, which will slow you down. There's also a fair amount of construction on the strip as well. Leave it to the cab drivers to get you to your destinations as fast as possible. You won't regret it and it will save you a lot or potentially wasted time in transit. Spend your time having fun, not stuck in traffic.
