Great locatoin - Not a bad hotel.
Girlfriend Getaway Sep 8, 2009
The hotel is okay. If you are looking for something close to all the nightlife than you really can't beat the location. The ... noise from the next door clubs never bothered us b/c the air conditioner in the room is so loud that it muffles any sound you might hear. I could however see how you might get annoyed if you have a room by the pool table or if there was a big group of ppl by the pool. THAT you might hear. The staff is below average - Make sure you check your room bill before you check out. We had some weird charge on there from the hotel restaurant (which we never ate in). After a fight they finally removed it. Overall, the people that work the front desk are just kind of there. They weren't exceptionally helpful. Also, if you do have any problems with the room - best of luck to you. Our toilet did not flush for 2 days and we were stuck using the bathroom just outside the pool. Another day the water was shut off entirely and another day we either had hot or cold, but not both. When we asked to speak to a manger for some sort of compensation, he was unavailable until our checkout date (convenient). We had a late checkout and asked for him that day anyway - he was still no where to be found. There are much nicer hotels at the northern and southern ends of playa del carmen but then you would be sacraficing the convenience of the short walk to nightlife. If you are on a romantic getaway, stay at one of those. If you are there with friends, this hotel was find. It was comfortable but nothing special. The complimentary breakfast at the sister hotel was pretty good. And the walk to there and the beach was fine. It's about a 3-5 minute walk. The beds on the beach are very comfortable. Service however is slow. So if you need anything make sure you ask for it about 20 minutes ahead of time. You're on vacation so not really a big deal - just a heads up. Lastly, the hotel has a promotion with "the GYM" around the corner. It's really nice for a gym in Mexico so if you are worried about staying at a place without a fitness center don't be. It was only about $7/day to use the the GYM.

Mosquito Blue Review
Two young 30 year olds Jul 20, 2009
I went with my wife from 7/15/09-7/19/09. I've been to Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen around 10 times. This was probably my ... favorite location. The staff was very accommodating. They spoke both English very well. The restaurant was exceptional. The location of the hotel was great. Its right off 5th Ave. We stayed in the Deluxe room. It was very clean, and decorated nice. We went to the sister property Mosquito Beach every morning for breakfast on the beach. Again the food was prepared well, and fresh. Mosquito Beach is about a 5 minute walk. I would have no problem visiting again.

Loved it...great feel
Gerald Mar 31, 2008
This was my first time to stay at Mosquito Blue as well as to visit Playa. It was a very European feel, but is very intimate ... and beautiful! The rooms are smaller, but I would recommend getting a larger room or one with the balcony. It is great that it is a short walk to the beach where you can visit Mosquito Beach and try the best Guacamole ever!

Many nightclubs and bars within a couple blocks. Make sure you stay on the Eastern side of hotel or else your room could be next to a loud nightclub.

Hip and Friendly Hotel
andrew Jan 29, 2008
The Mosquito Blue Hotel in Playa del Carmen was very nice for a romantic get away. It was close to the beaches and next door ... to many of the good restaurants. The guys at the front desk recommended Xaxche which was a great spot for Mayan food. The pool was very cool with couches and art work and well maintained. The rooms were small but clean. We paid a little more than we wanted but it was worth a few more dollars. We would go back.

Mosquito Blue in just off the main street (5th??) where all of the restaurants/bars are located. 2 blocks from the beach. One down side is there is a disco right across the street that was a bit loud.
