The hotel is very large and at first can be overwhelming..but once you get familiar with it, it's no big deal. We were ... greeted warmly from the moment we arrived, given champagne, had our own personal conceige. The room was fabulous, jacuzzi was more than ample for two, shower was huge with two rain showerheads and a seat... all countertops, floors are marble, did I mention the liquor dispensors with amenities...restaurants were great (Brazilian just opened so it still needed a little adjusting on the food), pools...take your pick, have one as active or as quiet as you wish. Most of the pools have whirlpools in them, swimup bars, food..if you don't feel like moving off a lounge chair, the waitress will bring you whatever you want. Service was outstanding, they could not do enough for you, no matter what it pertained to in the hotel. You have 24 hour room service..we decided to do dinner in one night, was fabulous..at the last minute we added on (2) Baileys..instead of sending (2) glasses, they send (2) bottles! If you request anything special, such as extra towels, etc..they always call to make sure you got your request and if you needed anything else. The have a gelato and a pizza cafe, both were superb. We will definitely go back! Note: Casino and golf are not finished yet, but they do have a few slot machines. We had a junior suite in the yellow bldg, which there are only four of those bldgs...so I can't vouch for other room types! Don't miss out on the hydrobath in the spa, it is quite an experience...in general, they have a fabulous exercise room and spa!!!

Perfect Honeymoon
Happy Honeymooner Oct 19, 2009
Just returned from my honeymoon at the Moon Palace in Punta Cana. It was fantastic! The resort is still not completed, but ... is far enough along to be a fantastic resort. The golf course, casino, lazy river, children's pools, a restaurant and some blocks of guest rooms are not complete, but 8 or so pools and 7-8 restaurants that are complete certainly are great. The resort actually felt pretty empty, although it was completely staffed and everything that was finished was up and running fully. We had spectactular service with the phrase "It is my pleasure to serve you" used frequently by the staff. We never waited for a restaurant, beach chair, towel, or drink. Most of the staff speaks limited English (enough to get by) although some communication is difficult. We did the sting ray and shark excursion, which was good. We also had a massage at the resort's spa. The spa is very nice, however, I felt rushed out the door at the end of the service even though the place was pretty much empty. That is one of my biggest complaints of the trip.I also was not entirely pleased with the [...] arranged airport transportation. When we called to arrange our departure time, we were told 12:30, but the van didn't show up until 12:50 and we still had to make a trip to another resort to pick up a group of people. Needless to say we were rushed at the airport. All in all, it was a great trip and I would seriously consider returning for a second time.

Moon Palace Punta Cana

This resort will be fantastic - once it's complete. They really have no business being open for business yet - at least at ... full price. Next year would be a completely different experience. Food was fantastic. Staff was exceptional. Nightlife was nonexistent. They need to have some options past 11:00 pm. Kiddie pools not open yet. Golf not open. Casino (for the most part) not open. Night club not open. Spa was wonderful, but not complete. Lots of construction still going on even early in the morning which was upsetting. Everything takes a longggggg time - check in, spa reservations, planning of any kind. There are a lot of kinks to work out.
Traveler type: Couples
If going here any time soon, be prepared for a partial vacation experience. They have a lot of work to do yet. Should be a fantastic experience in the future.

Family Vacation
Hil Aug 25, 2009
Overall it was a great stay. The biggest issue for us was that the hotel advertised that it would be finished (complete ... construction) by June 2009 and there was a lot of construction that needed to be completed in addition to some of the features not being available (i.e. main theatre, club, casino). There are issues with the plumbing and some other minor things but the staff is quick to respond AND were VERY eager to please and took care of our smallest/biggest requests. The gift shop will only take CC or bill it to your room-no cash. The construction is not disruptive and it was barely noticeable. We went to the beach, pool, and the Bavaro Excursion and Animal Park gives you a good taste for the local life. The hotel is too far from main transportation so a shuttle bus would be a nice feature- the only way into the closest town is car service. All the restaurants were excellent. We needed more of the local life but would recommend this hotel to anyone going for the first time or just looking to have a relaxing vacation.

Parents with younger children-the nightly entertainment was not bad but the dancers wore very skimpy outfits showing a lot of skin and a lot of their dance moves were cabaret like (regardless of the nightly theme) so in our opinion the shows should be rated and/or should provide real family entertainment and make clear the adult entertainment.

The Good and the Bad
World Traveler Aug 18, 2009
My husband and I are frequent travelers. We booked the trip to DR in anticipating the same hotel qualities experienced in ... our past stays with Palace Resorts. However, as a new hotel they still have to work on somethings. First, the power went out approximately four times. This became dangerous because of the sweat created by the humidity on the marble the floors. Also, there was a drinking cup (in the hallway)that met us on arrival and saw us out during our departure which was 6 days. One day, our room wasn't made up even though they scheduled a time to come back. The beach looked beautiful from a distance, however the strong currents kept us out. Lastly, the various restaurants to eat weren't impressive at all. Neither were the menus.
Traveler type: Couples
Beware if you intend on shopping please do it at the hotel resort or the Plaza Bavaro (which a taxi takes you to for $56 US). The Plaza Bavaro is more upscaled than local souvenir shops which is understandable. However, the vendors in the local plaza (down the street) are extremely aggressive. Do take note and travel in groups!

Sun Salutes Aug 6, 2009
Resort is still under construction but the completed areas, service, food, and location were good. It is still in soft ... opening so take advantage of the discount and upgrade to a junior suite. Beach was beautiful. However, be extremely careful due to the strong waves, especially if you have young children. Moon palace offered 2 free excursions: snorkeling and jungle tour. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Traveler type: Couples
If you really like to snorkel, pay the money and purchase the Marinarium excursion ($89/person) which takes place 2 times (8:10am or 12:40pm) a day 7 days a week and includes swimming with sting rays and nurse sharks, plus extra time to play at another beautiful beach location- skip the free snorkeling excursion offered on Mondays and Fridays only.

The Moon Palace resort was very nice, but I wish the constructions were compeletely done, becuase the Golf Course and GYM ... wasn't ready. This resort opened six months ago and as they said this was just a soft opening. We saw a lots of incomplete projects. As to the tours, we just went to animal park I would say it was OK. Overall, we enjoyed our vacation, but we should have waited two more years to see the compeleted version of the Moon palace. There were still consturction crews working on the site. Friendly staff but not all the staff speaks English and that made it harder for us to communicate with them.

The power went out one night for almost 4 hours - the resort blamed it on the "electric company" - but shouldn't a resort ... this size have power generators? Also, the bellhops were extremely rude and unaccomodating. The pools are pristine and gorgeous. The staff at retuarants/bars were helpful and friendly!

The dining options are incredible. The food was outstanding and the servers/bartenders were amazing! The Tao Restuarant was our favorite.

What I got is not what I paid for!!!!!!!
Ida May 25, 2009
I just got back and I wasn't very happy with my experience. It rained almost all week and there were roof leaks every where. ... This hotel is advestising too many things that are not even finished. There are several restaurants that haven't opened as well as the ammenities. The transportation system between the rooms, lobby, restaurants and the beach is terrible. I walked at least 1 mile every day to get to these places. I'm sure this will be a great place to stay once is finished, but definitely not now. I would not recommend it to anyone at this point. Great service though!!!
Traveler type: Friends
This hotel is not really ready to receive guests yet. Almost all that is advertised is set up temporarily or not completed yet. Ex: Lazy river not even started. NO disco, not all restaurants are open. Theather not ready either. I was very disappointed to pay so much $$ and not be able to enjoy them all.
