THis was our second stay at this hotel, so we knew what to expect. Montecito is THE place to stay for us for location, ... charm, no traffic, quaint dining, etc. We will stay there again, definitely. They do need to do something about that elevator. It's tricky.

It's at the perfect location right off the 101 freeway and a block or two away from Butterfly Beach. Our room faced the ... freeway, so you could constantly hear cars going by, but considering that there are only 2 lanes in each direction, it wasn't so bad. The rooms don't have air conditioning, but even though we were there on a very hot summer day, it wasn't so bad (there is a ceiling fan and a window you can open to let in the breeze). You can rent Charlie Chaplin movies for free (we saw The Kid). The pool/jacuzzi area is small but quiet and very well kept. The elevator was one of those old style ones with the links going across that you have to push away yourself to go out. If you like old Hollywood charm, this is the place to be. Next time I will fork over more to get a bigger room.

A nice experience in Montecito
MR from Newport Jul 2, 2009
Friendly and courteous staff. The rooms are nicely redone in an old hotel built in the 20's by Charlie Chaplin. The bathrooms ... are small but efficient and with nice toiletries. The only negative is that is that the hotel is close to the 101 freeway, and there is a constant traffic buzz. On the plus side, a pleasant and cozy bar with a good selection of wines by the glass. The on premises restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. All in all a good experience

Short Saturday night stay. Under $200 for a Saturday night through Orbitz. Great value for a summer weekend! They ... permitted an early check-in (10:30 a.m.). Very small room and thin walls but great service, great restaurant on premises and nearby. Tv nice with a DVD player and cable. Pool small but pleasant and fitness room satisfactory and well appointed with towels and water. Great access to freeway and a short bike ride to the beach on their free beach cruisers. If you stay in your room get a larger room. I'll stay again.

Travel-A-Lot May 11, 2009
The hotel certainly has history and charm, but it is now bounded by the freeway and a very busy street and is therefore ... noisy. Our room was tiny, especially the bathroom (think airplane size plus a small shower stall), but the bathroom does have lovely hand-painted tiles and nice soaps and towels. The hotel does have pretty, old world decor in the public areas and fresh flowers througout - nice touch. The room has a small 'frig, good TV, DVD player, but is small. Just not our style. Folks into antiques might like it. Also, the complimentary continental breakfast was nothing out of the ordinary, especially for an award-winning cafe (but the coffee was excellent).

Montecito Inn Rendevous
Paulette Nov 2, 2008
Very warm and friendly, elegant details in the room. The room was comfortable and cozy and the bed was so soft and ... welcoming. There wasn't a counter to put your things on as there was a pedestal sink in the bathroom, but the old-school style was worth the minor inconvenience. The location was charming, but my husband was disappointed that we could see the ocean from our window, just the roof of the hotel.

There is quite a few good eating establishments just down the road, and a Starbucks right before you get on the freeway going west.

Lovely art deco feel..........
Patricia Aug 7, 2008
I thought the hotel although small had everything that I needed. Although the room was small and the view was a roof, as a ... single person it was fine for me. The queen bed was very comfortable, the maid service did a good job and the mini fridge was a plus. They have a small gym with an ellyptical, treadmill, free weights, recumbent bike and small machine set up. The walk to the beach is a good 2 blocks and the beach is small but nice. Although, I didn't dine at the hotel, it has a very good reputation. They have a small bar with a light menu and the staff was friendly. Montecito shuts down around 10pm, so if your looking for nightlife, you'll find it on State St, The hotel made for a pleasant stay and I will go back again.

Don't go.
Christine Jul 8, 2008
Beware, the Montecito Inn does not have air conditioning! In addition, the Inn is situated directly above the main highway ... and the traffic noise in the room is very loud throughout the night. Both the Inn's restaurant and bar close at 10:00 p.m. and we were unable to obtain food after a late arrival due to a particularly long and stressful car journey. My daughter had taken the trouble to obtain a gift certificate for us to eat at the Inn's restaurant and the staff were obnoxious to us when we did not consume enough food for the full amount on the gift certificate. They refused to issue a refund and we were unable to use the excess amount on the gift certificate to tip our waitress. In addition, the restaurant food was poor at best. I would avoid this Inn at all costs.

Fun Alternative to Staying in Santa Barbara
Susan Jun 18, 2008
The Montecito Inn is a wonderful, quaint hotel very nearby to Santa Barbara and is a nice alternative to staying in Santa ... Barbara. The hotel is in very nice condition and well appointed. The rooms are small but decorated nicely. There is no a/c but the proximity to the ocean and the ceiling fans keep the rooms cool. This hotel had nice touches that are rarely experienced in US hotels in this price range (turn down service with chocolates, flavored water, coffee, tea and apples all day). The hotel is walking distance to restaurants and a nice beach. The pool was small and too warm but was lovely to sit by. The breakfast is minimal (coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, pastries and 3 choices of cereal, none very healthy).

Restaurant in hotel and mexican nearby were all great. 3 blocks away is a great ice cream shop (The Scoop) with daily homemade gelato and sorbets.

The Montecito Inn is a charming, well located hotel. We were there for a wedding, at the Biltmore, along with many friends. ... My husband's Great Aunt's birthday lunch also happened to be there the same week end. The lunch was great. Very good food. The many wedding guests were also very happy. Our room was the smallest of our friend's rooms, but cozy and charming. Will return.

Charming Old-World California Inn
Erinn May 11, 2008
This is a charming little inn nestled in the quaint and tony town of Montecito. Yes the rooms and decor are a bit older but ... it is in keeping with the general ambience of the hotel which has a more authentic feel than a corporate, bland hotel. The bar is fun and the restaurant lovely. The staff are friendly and hospitable and the free valet parking is a bonus. Highly recommend!!
