The ME by Melia is a very update and modern hotel with the friendliest staff you can find. Unfortunately due to the coming ... of hurricane IDA the hotel was not running at full steam as there was hardly any visitors there and the constant rain limited our exposure to the beach and pool. During the hurricane the hotel staff gave clear instructions on where we should be and what we needed to do to stay safe. The food in the tourism zone was way to exensive, as the weather permited and we was able to get out we was able to find food at extremely reasonable prices and much tastier then any food we ate in the tourism zone.

Beautiful beachfront property with spectacular sunrise views. Relaxed and sipped cocktails by the beach and poolside. Went ... for long walks along the beach. Drinks were a little expensive but comparable in price to big cities like NYC and Chicago. Very nice blend of relaxation and partying. A hip upscale place that lends itself well to several different options (i.e relaxing, partying and/or romance) It was as good as any other trip I've taken to the Caribbean. I'd definitely stay at the ME again.

When we first walked in we were immediately greated and they gave us glasses of champange! After checking in, some one ... escorted us to our room and minutes after settling into our room, the phone started ringing. It was a follow up call from the front desk asking how our check-in was and to just call if we ever need anything else. The most important thing is that the service was great from when we arrived to the duration of our stay to when we departed.

Overrated VH1-MTV party hotel. They need to stop bragging that Rock Of Love was filmed there and focus on basic costumer ... services. The gym was inadequate. Anybody that can lift more than 20 pounds wont get a decent workout. Middle of the night phone calls asking to pay a 49 pesos bill! Elevators broke for 3 days. Had to use a crowded service elevator that sounded as if someone was pulling it up and down via a rusty chain. Ten feet of beach front. Thats when the tide was out. Beach front rooms are way small with no balconies. No store in hotel to buy water or small snacks. I could go on but Brett Michael's needs my autograph.

Second Stay at ME
dave Sep 28, 2009
This was our second stay here this year, both for 8 nights. Obviously, we are fans of this hotel since we returned after our ... April trip.Room: We had a 6th floor ocean view. Excellent overall. Housekeeping service twice each day. Bathroom stocked with Aveda products. Fantastic shower. Comfortable bed.Pools: Clean and no problem getting beds any time of day. Plenty of staff for drinks, food, umbrellas, towels, etc. This is more of an adult oriented hotel which we liked at the pool especially. Very peacefull.Food: We had breakfast daily at the hotel restaurant. This is a buffet with many made to order options included (eggs, pancakes, fruit/veggie smoothies to name a few). Great staff. We loved it.Beach: This was the big surprise for us because we did not expect one. In April the water came right up to the retaining walls. This time the tide was much lower and there was plenty of beach to enjoy for walks, sunbathing and fun in the ocean.Spa/Fitness Room: Worked out 4 days in the gym. Nice Lifecycle treadmills. Plenty of equipment for a vacation workout. Still surprised that they do not supply wipedown sprays/anti-bacteria wipes for the guests to use on the equipment. We remembered this from our April trip so we packed our own.Our package included a small spa credit that my wife used for a facial that she said was great. We asked if they had any other spa service promotions going on and to our surpise they had 2 x 1 massage(good Monday - Thursday only). We had been there all week and you would think the hotel guests would be informed of this to get some business. We selected the 90 minute hot stone couples massage and it was the most relaxing massage we have ever had. We believe that there is no such thing as a bad massage but this was exceptional.Misc.: At check in, after flying 1800 miles, the front desk informed us that our reservation had been cancelled (they said it was cancelled 24 hours prior). Not the way I expect to start a vacation especially since I had emailed the ME 48 hours prior to arrival to verify the accomodations (ME emailed back that everything was ready). [...]I informed them this was not my problem so we got the manager [...] involved. [...] quickly realized the following: 1)Reservation made 4 months prior 2)Several email confimations with ME including 48 hours prior to arrival regarding accomodations[...]Within minutes the reservation was reinstated. I was never informed on what happened but everything went great from there. As for the "Noisy" check mark...the halls are all tile so everything echos. If you are a light sleeper you will hear everything.

This hotel was perfect! It has a very detailed contemporary interior design. Every corner of the hotel is amazing. You will ... want to take pictures every where you go. The service was perfect and the rooms were spotless. Their slogan is "It's all about ME" and they really do mean it. We were treated like VIP guest. The beach is unbelievable. We had the ocean view at "The Level" with astonishing view. It is also very centric to several restaurants and nightlife. I will definitely stay here on my next trip to Cancun.

Make sure to visit Coco Bongo. The cover charge was $35 for women and $50 for men, this includes open bar. It is totally worth it. The show is incredible. Just okay
Mica&Roger Sep 21, 2009
We booked this hotel for the room and balcony (loft suite) features even though we had read many complaints about noise ... through the walls and poor service. We were thrilled with the room and balcony itself but did have issues with noise and service. I would say overall our stay was okay, but we would not stay here again because it is just not worth the problems we had and the way the hotel dealt with it. The hotel couldn't have been more than 40% full but they put single men in the room next to us who would come back to their rooms late at night talking loudly, using profanity every other word, banging on doors and talking about wanting to go to strip clubs... We called the front desk and eventually security came and asked them to quiet down but I felt this was poor service on behalf of the hotel since we had specifically asked ahead for a quiet room and been assured it would happen. After our rowdy neighbors checked out they blocked the room to be sure no one else would be put it in, but why didn't they do that in advance? Seriously, the hotel was nowhere near full... the extra money we paid and the fact that I communicated with the hotel in advance should have earned us the right to have a relaxing, peaceful stay. The restaurants at the hotel were not good at all but since it is not all-inclusive and there are plenty of restaurants nearby or a short bus ride away it wasn't a big deal to us. Specifically, the tepanyaki at Silk was not worth the money. We are from Seattle where we have several excellent tepanyaki restaurants to choose from so we may be biased. On the other hand, we HIGHLY recommend Lorenzillo's just a short bus ride away. Excellent service, superb food and a wonderful atmosphere! We had read complaints about timeshare salespeople in the lobby but didn't have a problem with this. Yes, our phone rang off the hook for the first 24 hours we were there with them wanting to give us our "welcome package" but we just talked to them the next day and told them we are on our honeymoon and really don't want to be bothered and they were very polite and never bothered us the next 9 days we were there. Our major service issue was that we had to call the front desk 4 times on the morning after our noisy neighbors left to have them send someone upstairs to turn off the clock radio alarm in the room next door that started going off at 5 in the morning. These walls are beyond thin here and it sounded like the alarm was going off in our room... after an hour and 4 calls (after the 3rd they said someone had turned it off, but it was still going the whole time) my husband waited outside our room for the security person so that he could go in and watch the man turn the alarm off in the room. Then he went down to the front desk to talk to a manager on duty and just got a blank, glassy-eyed stare in response to his frustration. We were told the general manager would be in at 9 am so we went back downstairs at that time and were told the GM was in a meeting. Another employee spoke to us but barely even apologized for the incident... he told us the GM would contact us but we never received a call, a note or anything from the general manager for the rest of our stay. The issue itself (the alarm going off for an hour and them lying to us about having turned it off) was just one day, one hour and we could have forgotten about it had the response been better. As it turned out though, it seemed to be an indicator of how unresponsive the manager and staff are to customer service issues. We read about these issues in other reviews and decided to take our chances, but in hindsight we regret that decision... I'm not saying you shouldn't stay at this hotel, but I'm recommending that if you are planning a very special trip (ours was our honeymoon) that you seriously consider the things that are said in the negative reviews and if those types of issues would be acceptable to you on your special vacation. Very Friendly Staff
Cancun by myself Sep 15, 2009
The Hotel was very modern with a very friendly and attentive staff. The beach was beautiful and the pool areas had a great ... view of the beach with plenty of lounge areas, towels and pillows to relax on. During the day, the pool area has a nice lounge feel with music and a young urban clientele, but by nightfall the music gets a little louder with a faster beat in the adults only pool. The rooms were a good size, but had no tubs or balconies (at least for most rooms that I was aware of). A tub would have been perfect to relieve my sunburn :(. I was also hoping for a DVD player, as I brought a couple of DVDs, but that was minor. The hotel did have WiFi and an area downstairs with computers for guest use. On the weekends, the Rosebar has a DJ and the night I went, was ladies night, so women drink for free, which brought in a young local crowd for a while which was nice. Overall I really enjoyed the hotel and would definitely recommend it to young singles, or couples, but not really a place for families.

if you can its best to buy a bottle at the nightclubs and you'll get much better sevice. The other way is about 40 dollars for all you can drink but good luck getting your drinks fast with good service. If you dont tip you'll see your drink order 30 min later. The bottles are usually about 80 to 120 dollars. So if you have a group of 3-4 your gonna spend that anyway. and you have much more room to party in the vip then in general population.
