As this was our first trip to Maui, we used the reviews of other guests to make our decision. We were very happy that we ... chose the Maui Coast Hotel. It was about 15 min from the airport. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. We had a car, so we were able to travel North to Lahaina area (abt 20 min North) and South to Wailea (abt 10 min). Kihei was perfect because it is smaller with great beach access. Watch for the Sushi early bird specials at Sensai Restaurant, 25% ,off and get a coupon from the consierge for Happy Hour at 5 Palms and 15% off entrees. The Fodars Maui was a great help too. One last thing, Amor d'Italian restaurant, was a good deal and tasted great! Really, this was a great deal for the price! They had nightly entertainment by the pool and free computers located in the lobby!

Use the money staying here to enjoy eating out, entertainments, etc... After all, if what you are looking for is just a hotel stay, then you can do that at home. If you want to enjoy the sites and area, then this was great place to stay. Has the BEST towels I've ever seen at a hotel.

Exceeded Expectations for the Price
Will Nov 11, 2009
I was expecting a nice hotel for the price I paid, but nothing comparing to the far more expensive and glamorous resorts ... found in Hawaii. However, I was surprised at just how nice the hotel was and how the little things added up to make a huge difference. Located right on the main street of Kihei, right across from several beaches, the location could not be beat; there is no shortage of restaurants and stores. I didn't plan on spending much time at the hotel, but definitely felt compelled to as the flat screen TV was an added bonus. Early check-in, no parking fees, and cleaning service that even organized the snorkeling gear I threw it into the corner are little perks that are greatly appreciated.

Maui Coast
JoeC Nov 9, 2009
I was traveling with my girlfriend for a relaxing vacation. The hotel was clean and very quiet, which was perfect for what we ... wanted. It was located accross the street from two of the best beaches on Maui and close to a number of excellent and affordable restaurants. The location was ideal to a number of attractions. I would have liked if the pool was a little bigger and if the fitness room was a little larger, but overall I would say that I would absolutely stay here again.
Traveler type: Couples
I would recommend to anyone who stays here to check out Sorrento's on the beach in to way to Wailea. Go between 8-9:30 P.M. for dinner and ask for the starlite menu. It is an unadvertised menu, but a great value and a wonderful experience.

Great place to stay
Kate Nov 5, 2009
The staff at this hotel was the best. They worked very hard to make sure that your time spent there is enjoyable. The rooms ... were clean and well stocked. The housekeeping service does not start until 09:00 but that was fine by me. The pool was warm with a nice pool side bar and the jaccuzi was off to the side in an adults only area. The safe was a good enogh size that I could store my valuables and be comfortable leaving them. They provided laundry rooms on all the even number floors and all you paid for was the soap. They also provided a free shuttle to select areas such as local shopping. They were all very knowledgeable about the local bus routes also. The bed was great as was the massive tub. They even had a late night menu for those who got back in late. There was food service at the hotel until midnight.

Great Hotel period
brfooted Oct 30, 2009
Stayed for a week in October 2009. This place is wonderful. The front desk staff were great and upgraded us to a mini suite ... which made it that much better. Like others have said, the bed is extremely comfortable. The room was comfortable and roomy. The balcony was nice and the air conditioning worked great. Always felt like our belongings were safe left behind in the room. Very convenient to everything in Kihei, walking distance to ABC store for cold drinks and snacks, The beach is right across the street. We did not eat at Spices but the $5 breakfast looked like a good deal. I would absolutely come back to Maui Coast on all return trips to Maui.

This hotel has always been great. We always go back, and we are never dissapointed. We went to the great beaches close by and ... finished our days at the pool. The room was newly redone, clean, and perfect. The pool was good, but the entertainment and pupus is what always gets me. The bargain is all that you get with the price we paid. Love it really and can't wait to go back next year !!!

Lovely stay at the Maui Coast
Maui Lover Oct 8, 2009
What a wonderful experience! The Maui Coast surpassed all of our expectations. Sure our standard room was on the smaller ... end of the spectrum and the bathroom was a little cramped but it was clean, superbly comfortable (ahhh, the beds!) and tastefully decorated. Check in and check out was a breeze and the front desk agents were friendly and helpful. The free internet in the lobby is a great asset but the 3 stations are frequently occupied. Of course if it was free in the rooms that would be the most ideal but I think it was like, $10 a day to use. Lame. The fitness center gets the job done and is clean with new equipment. The hotel and it's grounds are impeccably manicured and well maintained. I most appreciated its proximity to the beach-- just right across the street. All you have to do is head down the driveway, make a left towards the intersection, cross the street and there it is- a gorgeous, relaxing beach to enjoy. Our seventh floor eastward facing room had a great ocean view and a balcony by which to really enjoy it. Loved having a mini-fridge to keep all our beverages cold as well as a microwave to enjoy leftovers. The Maui Coast is situated in the most ideal location. Lots to do, lots to see and lots of conveniences to take advantage of. I suppose my only gripe would be with the housekeeping policy where, even if you have your "do not disturb" sign out, they can open the door and check on the condition of your room sometime after 2pm. Really wasn't a problem but just a bit of a nuisance. Didn't get a chance to try any of the food outlets at the hotel although was interested in the $5 breakfast offered at "Spices." It seemed to get pretty busy in the a.m. so I imagine it was at least decent. You must try Cafe O'Lei down the street for lunch. Food is delicious and prices can't be beat. Originally went there for dinner which was amazing and we thought worth the $20+ entree price but then we stopped in for lunch and it was literally the same dishes & portions for less than half the price! Must try the blackened mahi and the fettuccine dish! Yum! Maui was amazing and the Maui Coast just made our trip all the more incredible. All in all, we cannot wait to go back to the island and we cannot wait to get back to the Maui Coast!
