We loved this property. Negative: 1) Aruba is very "Americanized" we actually enjoyed this but it was a bit shocking to be ... reminded of home everywhere we went. US dollars accepted everywhere, lobby TV's show NY news, American music playing everywhere. 2) I thought I booked the best view available online (ocean/island) view only to find out pool/ocean view is better. We moved and it was fine. 3). Hotel is at the end of the "strip" so its out of the way. We like this (cheap cab ride to strip) Some people might like to be closer to the action. We liked being removed from it. Positive: 1). We had no problem reserving a hut as it was not crowed when we were there. 2). Gym was nice and big...but very hot! 3). Island very safe able to explore easily and safely 4) We loved it so much we bought a time share at Surf Club

Take a cab to the closet grocery store. Buy beer, liquor, mixer and snacks. Take back to hotel as all of those are VERY expensive at the hotel. Lots of people had there own snacks and drinks at the pool and the beach so you dont look funny at all doing it.

Jim Jun 20, 2009
We had a wonderfull stay! The Hotel staff was very friendly. Everyone was willing to help and make you feel like you are ... very important to them. The rooms were very clean, the hotel property was outstanding and close to everything. Having the casino there was just one more advantage for some late night activity! The hotel is great for business travelers and families. The restaraunts were very good and the location of the other Marriot hotels were within walking distance which gives you even more places to eat and shop. I would highly recommend the Marriot to anyone going to Aruba!

We rented a car. It is very easy to get around Aruba and if you do any excursions, most of them pick you up right at the hotel. The car is nice for running downtown or grabbing a bite to eat!

I would not suggest anyone to stay at this hotel. The hotel had a stinch from the time we arrived until the time we left. One ... of the elevators were out. I was bit several times from bed bugs and we were there a total of 6 days; I do not believe that the sheets were changed at all. If you stay at this hotel never call for a wake up call because you will not receive it. Also, don't call the front desk and expect someone to answer the phone, that will not happen. The staff needs to learn professional etiquette. I turned in a little girls Ipod and the staff looked like vultures. I would not be surprised if the little girl ever sees tje Ipod again. The overall moral of the staff was extremely low.

Lovely Vacation for Two
Carol The Happy Traveler May 25, 2009
We found the food too expensive, so we often ate elsewhere. In our room we could constantly hear the casino jingle. Our room ... did not smell fresh and the carpet could have been cleaner. The hotel was wonderful when my husband needed a trip to the emergency room and drug store for a kidney stone attack. The location was wonderful for the beach and activities. The grounds are gorgeous. Aruba was our best beach experience.

Beautiful noise
Jersey Judy May 9, 2009
We stayed in the south tower during May. Beautiful view of the beach and ocean, however when we sat on the balcony we could ... hear the noise from the generator/ air conditioners of the 3 time share buildings next to the hotel. The room was perfect, but you had to use the elevator in the north tower as the ones in the south tower were being renovated. We used the stairs to go down, but going up 6 floors was a bit much. The property was nicely maintained, the beach was crowded and reserving/paying for a "hut" ahead of time was a must.Otherwise you could just show up, but you would be sitting towards the back of the beach listening to the noise of the delivery trucks. The food was great. Eating at Simply Fish on the beach was fantastic. We don't mean to sound too negative as we did have a wonderful week. It is just that we were both looking for a quiet beach. This was beautiful but noisy.A better choice for us would have been the Caymans as we were there last year and loved it. sat

Restaurants are awesome: Madame Janette, Flying Fishbones, Papamiento, Texas de Brazil to name a few. The Marriott La Vista restaraunt was very good as well. Great morning buffet.. I am 6'8" and I could fit in the small Suzuki car we rented from Avis. You should rent a car while there. Careful though, because many Arubans drive worse than Mass. drivers which is scary. One dude was hammered and behind the wheel - not cool. I put #70 sunscreen on and still got a wicked good tan near the equator ... be careful.
