Quiet place to stay
school marm Nov 6, 2009
Convenient to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, if have rental car since in between both cities. Don't know the price of ... taxi or shuttle since we had rental car. Nice beach at hotel and close to other beaches. Queen beds were advertised, but were actually full size, though comfortable. Kitchenette had dishes to eat on, but no kitchen prep or serving tools or microwavable bowls for making food in microwave. Clean rooms. Wish there was a closet or at least a place to hang clothing in one of the rooms. Had a safe in the room. Staff was helpful with requests. No TV in room, but one in shared area which no one else but us used. Internet access was slow, but usable. Hotel has neat Mexican style, though not new. Did not try the restaurant or bar on site. Overall, would come again, but never advise someone to come that could not walk the many, many stairs. Reasonable for 5 people for $120 a night, if find deals online or at their website.

My husband and I went for our honeymoon and it was the perfect romantic getaway! The hotel is quiet, small, and out of town ... so you dont get all the hustle and bustle of Cabo. We went in early August and there were minimal people staying there so it felt very personal. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, we felt like good friends after staying 10 days. They offer all kinds of activities at the hotel as well as in Cabo or San Jose. One day we rented snorkel equipment from them and took the bus to a public beach - so fun! The architecture is truly beautiful and the rooms very cozy and unique. The restaurant has amazing food and a wonderful view. We were so glad we chose this hotel that was a little off the beaten path, it was perfect!

Lovely, peaceful place to stay!
Pixie Aug 19, 2009
This was a great place to stay and relax. It is between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose, so you can experience the best of both ... worlds (party vs. good food and relaxed shopping). The only difficulty with that is that the taxis are expensive. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but not obtrusive. The beach is not safe for swimming, but there is a swimming beach 5 min away by bus/car and the pool was lovely. The best part for us was the calm atmosphere. We had the pool area to ourselves every evening and there were never many people around. The food was quite good and the margaritas were fantastic! If you are looking for a party, Cabo San Lucas is the place to stay, but if you prefer a relaxing getaway this is the spot.

If you want a quiet getaway
Cabo visitor Aug 15, 2009
The hotel is out of the way, about halfway between Cabo San Jose and Cabo San Lucas. It was very quiet - either not many ... people there, or they went off during the day (or maybe it was the time of year we were there - August). The room was great - two bedrooms, two baths, kitchenette (microwave and small fridge). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and lunch at the hotel were very good; for dinner I'd recommend the bus into town for more variety. Internet was down for most of the time we were there, and we didn't use the gym area. We did have a great time, though! I'd recommend this hotel to people who want a quiet place to stay and are willing to travel into town by bus or taxi. There's really nothing at the location of the hotel, other than the beach.

We were scared into thinking that a $75/night room in the middle of nowhere was going to suck("you get what you pay for") But ... when we saw the rooms and the hotel, we realized we had lucked out in a big way. Though the lovely reception area and hotel front is right on busy/noisy Hwy 1, you can't hear it at all. The rooms and beach are well down the hill. The rooms are super cute, the decorations and landscapingis awesome and the maze of endless but really cool tile stairs are unbelievably charming. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The beach, hot tubs, and pool are great. It's halfway between Cabo and San Jose and close to Sta Maria and Chilleno bays...for decent snorkeling. The food was tolerable. Big deal. San Jose had amazing food. Morgan's Encore is a must. Baja Brewing had great salad and local brewed beer. The only downside to the hotel might be the local kids on loud motorcycles on the beach(just one day while we were there) and loud tvs and no bartender by they pool. Easily remedied though. Overall...a fantastic accomodation for the price. I'd go back for sure. Sidenote: We were there May 1-3...at the height of Swine Flu Drama. Maybe it was unusually quiet?

Morgan's Encore. Unreal atmosphere and food. Very romantic. Baja Brewing: good food and beer. Cheaper than Morgan's.

We did find Marbella to be a pleasant place to stay for anyone looking for a quiet spot by the ocean, away from crowded ... beaches and tourist attractions. The staff was pleasant and the food and drinks were good. We chose not to rent a car and relied on public transportation into the nearby towns....a good cultural experience!!

The hotel is midway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose so it is necessary to rent a car or use public transportation to the cities as there are no activities close to the hotel.

Remodeling the facade
PATRICIA May 23, 2008
The Marbella Suites hotel promisses to improve its appearance from the road. Although they are working in the frontal part of ... the building, you hardly hear the sounds inside the strip of suites that leads to the pool area and beach. Personel are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very big, but they need certain ammenities such as TV, Internet connection, and light switches by the bed. Most of them do not offer ocean view, which is nice from the restaurant. You get what you pay. I do not recommend it if you do not have a rental car nor you are willing to take the public transportation, as there is nothing around the property in terms of restaurants or shops. We had a car, so we could eat either in San Jose or San Lucas, as we were in the middle of the Corridor. The beach is not for swimming, but this is often the case in most of the Corridor and San Jose hotels.
Traveler type: Business
You could eat in your suite if you buy microwavable food, as there was no stove. Food is ok in the restaurant if you ask for Mexican food. We ate only lunch and breakfast, and both were good. The price is OK. We cannot talk about international food at the hotel, as we had the opportunity to drive to both Cabos.

Bring what you will need!
Jill May 6, 2008
The hotel is beautiful, great landscaping, right on the beach, but in the middle of nowhere between Cabo San Lucas and San ... Jose. And let me mention there are lots and lots of stairs-150+ from the beach to the street, 76 from the street to our room, toting our luggage! (they're installing an elevator) We checked in on Friday night and we were disappointed in the size and cramped spaces of the room, no TV, no phones to call the front desk (don't forget the stairs!). So we upgraded to the Presidential Suites with 2 bedrooms and they were much nicer, with TV and phone. It was 9:00 at night and the bar and restaurant were already closed. That's because we were the only ones staying there. They did reopen the bar for us, which was very accomodating. However, over our 4 day stay, they ran out of bottled water for 2 days, no orange juice, no pineapple juice, ran out of mango margarita mix after making 3 margaritas, and the list goes on of what they didn't have. They did have lots of cranberry juice. During our entire 4 day weekend stay, we saw only 2 other guests staying there (but they left after one night). The closest restaurants, shopping, grocery store, etc. is a $30-$35 cab ride each way. The hotel has great promise, but bring everything you would need to eat or drink, because their inventory is very limited. There were 7 of us in the (2) suites and so we basically had the hotel, pool, restaurant and beach to ourselves, which was pretty nice. If you're looking for activities, this is not for you...if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place. Just bring what you need!

Beautiful Hotel & Fabulous Beach Access
Natalie May 6, 2008
Marbella Suites en la playa is a beautiful small hotel and the beach access is outstanding. Our group was practically the ... only guests during our stay. At first we were unsatisfied with our rooms (one bedroom suites) - small, no phones or TVs - but we upgraded to Presidential Suites and were very satisfied with them (there are only 2 on the property and both have phones and TVs!). The staff was excellent. The pool area was beautiful and the beach was excellent - absolutely beautiful and completey deserted. The bar was not stocked sufficiently and ran out of several items including bottled water. If you plan to spend a lot of time in town this may not be a good location for you. It is only about a 15 minute cab ride to town - not too bad - but we felt the cab rates were expensive. The hotel does not have an elevator but is currently installing one. There are approximately 176 steps from the front desk down to the pool/restaurant/beach - not so bad going down but imagine the uphill climb! Very difficult to get your luggage up and down! It will be great once the elevator is installed and I was told there are other upgrades underway as well. Me, my husband, and our friends liked the peace and seclusion and will most likely visit again - you can't beat the beach!! - we're waiting on the elevator!

Great Hotel that has everything for a great vacation
Michelle Sep 4, 2007
It was better than i ever expected! This hotel was really beautiful, set apart from everything else so i spent 3 days on a ... beach with very few others around. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially the front desk. There was a hurricane that came through that kept me an extra day and they didnt' charge me for the night i had to stay because all flights were canceled. They sent me flashlights, batteries and were beyond a doubt incredibly helpful and caring. I was so pleased with everything before the bad weather arrived and even more impressed with the hotels support and friendliness in the face of the bad weather. i will definitely go back here and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation near on the beach! And i had the most amazing massage on a rock that overlooked the beach. it was fantastic!

This hotel is in between San Jose and San Lucas, definitely should rent a car if you want to go out and do things other than relax on the beach.
