The resort was very nice. We enjoyed the beach and grounds, but was somewhat disappointed in the room. We are accustomed ... to having a kitchen or kitchenette. We are scuba divers, and depending on the dive operators, we must be on location before breakfast is served, thus the need for a kitchen. Otherwise the location was great, the staff very friendly and the facilities very nice.

If you enjoy the beach, water, sun and a gentle breeze, this is the perfect location. there is a long stretch of beach which ... is great for a morning walk. The water was cool, blue and beautiful. The hotel was peaceful and quiet, just what we were looking for, yet there was enough to do in the area...food, gambling and shopping. The hotel was not updated, yet very clean and comfortable. The friendly staff was very helpful with any questions we had. We would definitely come back.

Kind of an obvious one, but make sure to bring your sunscreen and stuff from home as it is expensive to buy there. Consider bringing a blow-up tube or raft along to float in the waves with.
--Calmense, Massachusetts Oct 23, 2009
Make no mistake - Aruba is an expensive island. A couple can expect to pay $50 for lower end restaurants and easily over $100 for nice restaurants. We recommend getting a rental car at the rental desk in the lobby called Top Drive. We drove to the nearby markets (Ling & Sons and Superfood) to pick up food for breakfast and lunch (the room has a decent size mini-fridge and microwave) and then splurged on a nice dinner. They really ding you on alcohol in Aruban restaurants so we loaded up on Balashi, the local beer which is amazing. Having a car also makes it easy to visit the sites over the island and saves money by avoiding tour buses/taxies. Driving is very easy in Aruba - they drive on the right side of the road and it's a small island so you can get to your destination quickly.

Satisfying Place for Relaxing Vacation
Calmense Oct 23, 2009
If you're looking for a more authentic Caribbean stay than you would get in the 15th floor of a fluffy high-rise hotel, the ... Manchebo resort is perfect. It is less Americanized than some of the high-rise hotels, but you are, after all, in Aruba. You trade the fluffy down comforter for having the beach right outside your sliding door. Quiet resort, with attached wonderful spa. Not crowded (mid-October), on one of Aruba's quietest beaches (from what I read and could tell). Beach huts are spread out to give you some shade and the hotel carries lounge chairs out for you. Nearby resorts had crammed in beach huts, almost on top of one another. No need to pay to hold the hut either, plenty open ones, and front-row ones are easy to get. Beach bar is great, daily happy hour, great fun bartenders with the game on TV. Can order lunch and drinks from beach hut and is brought to you, as well. Attached steakhouse is decent food, but I don't recommend the attached Italian restaurant, at least not the pizza. Nothing special, especially for the price. Not a deal-breaker, there are next-door hotels to eat at, I just wouldn't recommend All-Inclusive unless you REALLY like steak. Breakfast was very good, lunch was decent for on-beach food (burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers). Highly recommend Manchebo Beach itself for a quiet, relaxing time, not all the chaos or crowds of Palm Beach, probably not family-friendly, though (optionally topless). Staff was great, Spa was fantastic (make appointments!). Room was fine, nothing special, but who wants to be in the room in Aruba? Also the food hours were great, very flexible. Breakfast was almost all morning, lunch was practically all day, allows you to not rush or keep the time in mind. Will likely be back, loved it overall. (Note: there was construction while we were there-midOctober09-on a few rooms they were refurbishing, but not a major nuisance).

Best Beach and Most Relaxing
Balashi Man Oct 9, 2009
We stayed at Manchebo for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. Spring for the ocean front room - we spent every morning ... taking in the view while eating breakfast and feeding the local iguanas - fantastic! We toured the entire island - highly recommend a rental car which you can get at a desk in the lobby - and Manchebo truly has the best beach on the island. It's the widest beach, no rocks, softest sand, and the sunsets nearly in front of you. There are a couple minor rough spots to Manchebo (thin walls let noise in and the bathroom could be cleaner) but these are quickly forgotten by the beach and how quiet/relaxing it is. We didn't want the crowds and Americanized places found in the hi-res area (a couple miles away) so Manchebo was just the right fit for us. We had a wonderful time and would quickly go back - hopefully for an anniversary in our near future!

I Found Paradise in Aruba
Matt & Gloria Barrett Sep 14, 2009
Pool was nice size and cared to every morning, very clean with friendly staff, the Beach, What can I say except that the ... Beach was a Paradise with pure white sand, very clean, no rocky surfaces, water was blue and green with visibilty of atleast 10 feet to the bottom, My wife and I ate at the French Steak House on site 3 out of the 4 nights, the steaks and the stuffed shimp were out of this world. The breakfast was also very nice, most important part was the coffee, got good coofee here, not like Mexico and other countries I've been to. The staff at the Steak house were the best, friendly, remembered our names after the first night, polite, set up on the tables were perfect and service was great. Most of all the employees that I spoke to were employed there for more then 5 years each, some 30 years, the Owners must be doing something right. But I have found my next vacation at Manchebo and I plan on going again and again. There are just to many names to remember, but to the staff and the owners on Manchebo, "A Job Well Done in making my vacation a vacation to remember" 4 days there was just to short. Thank You. Relaxing getaway on gorgeous beach
Sunburned and de-stressed Aug 31, 2009
This is our second trip to Aruba and our second stay at the Manchebo. We love the resort! It's very quiet and private--very ... restful and relaxing. If you're looking for wild nightlife and lots of action, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a little piece of paradise--where you can unwind; walk on beautiful, uncrowded beaches; and just rejuvenate--this is a great place to go. The beach and the waters are probably the most beautiful and clean we have ever seen. There's a nice pool, but the Caribbean Sea water is so clean that we only used the pool one time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Many of the people we remembered from our last visit. The Manchebo has very little turnover in staff--some people have been there for over 10 years. Our room was kept spotless. The resort doesn't offer a lot of activities, although you can arrange for all kind of activities through the general tour companies (De Palms, etc.). It's probably a little quiet for families with children, but for couples, it's great.

Use bus service, less expensive than the taxi. Manchebo Beach is very nice. Lots of chairs and huts. Try eating at the ... Wacky Wahui, Pizza Bob's directly behind Manchebo, and the Flying Fishbone (use a taxi to get there) Visit the bar every evening for Happy Hour. It's the best on the beach thanks to Iggy the bartender. This place is NOT the Waldord Astoria. The room was adequate...we spent most of the time on the beach so Perfect accomodations are not necessary. We had a great time. We met lots of nice people. We would return to this resort.

Two enjoyable activities were going to Aruba's Donkey Rescue farm, near the Atlantic side of the island, and also to the Ostrich farm. For those into jet skis, parasails, etc., a ten or fifteen minute drive to the high rise district on Palm Beach is recommended, where many of the vendors are located.
