It was a great hotel, filled the mini bar everyday, not sure if the sheets were changed, because there was blood stains on ... it. Room service was good, but some food items are questionable. For example, pastries are not made fresh as well as bread, pancakes or crepes. Some hot food was good. Lunch and dinner menu was delicious. More entertainment is needed during the day.

The hotel was very nice, but I do not believe it was a 5 star resort. It was very very hot and the AC did not work ... everywhere and they did not have fans in some locations. The AC went out in the entire resort one night. The food was ok, but not great. It did not appear they had proper preparation of food (temperature)(cold or hot). The staff spoke very little English and there was a huge language barrier. Even though this was during their off season there was no sense of urgency or being detailed oriented. If you would order something you would either get something close to what you ordered or they would just bring you whatever they wanted. The beach and the pools were great and the nightly entertainment was ok as well. I don't think that the hotel is horrible, just overrated. For as much as the total vacation was, I think there are many other countries or locations we could have went and received just as good, if not better service.

The bad, and the really ugly

Just returned from our trip and am so happy to finally be home. Can you believe it? I was on vacation in the Caribbean many ... times and this was the first time I and my family could not wait to get out of there! The Service was so, so... and the staff was quit rude. The food was edible but not at best and the fruit was over ripe and some spoiled. The cleaning people did not do a good job of cleaning. The hotel still under developmnt , the pool on the south side was not working and the answer was "we do not know when will it be fixed". Four days in the row we were not able to sleep since the constraction work. I will never go back to this resort again. I wasted alot of money and a full week of vacation time...

When my daughter and I decided on Punta Cana as our vacation destination, the next step was to choose a resort. There were ... many places to choose from but after hours of visiting competitors websites and reading numerous reviews we chose Majestic Elegance. In our opinion this place is totally amazing. Our room was spacious and very clean. It overlooked the pool and it was in a good location. The pool was so huge that it looked as though it went on forever. It was exceptionally clean and well kept. There are plenty of activities going on at different times of the day if you would like to participate in them, such as, exercise classes, bingo, kickboxing, aerobics, games etc. In the evening there was always a band playing in the plaza or some of the bar areas. There were shows every night except Wednesdays when they have the big beach party which was totally awesome. The Michael Jackson show was incredible. You actually thought it was him up on stage. The other shows were good too. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Of course you can't forget about the beach and its deep blue water. After everything you just read you wouldn't think I had any complaints, right? Well this is not really a complaint, it is merely my opinion. The one major subject I didn't address and it is a very important subject, is the food. I really don't want anyone who reads this review to go by the fact that my daughter and I didn't care for the food, because the two of us are very very picky eaters. If you are the kind of peron who likes to experiment and try different foods, than you probably would think it was good, but if you are like the two of us that might be a problem for you. However, the week before we came here my niece and her friends came to Punta Cana and stayed at a different resort entirely and they didn't care for the food there either. So really no matter where you are or what you eat, individual tastes vary from person to person. So take my food review and put it in perspective, but don't let it deter you from enjoying this fabulous resort because in reality there will probably always be something on the menu or the buffet that you will find to eat that you will like. I highly recommend this resort and I am planning on returning here again sometime. 5 STARS

I arrived the first day at the hotel, it looked amazing. I waited 2 hours for my room to be ready and finally it was. Looked ... around a little, the room was amazing, i left to the beach without unpacking and when i got back, my $ 550 was gone. Not to mention somebody (predicted to be a man) used my bathroom and left urine all over my toilet seat and there was a big bag of dirty bathrobes laying around. My girlfriend and i were terrified and we felt unsafe and miserbale. i was left with $ 10 to spend for the next 7 days of my trip. To top things off, the hotel didn't offer me anything as complimentary and strictly said they were not responsible even though there was no reason for anybody to enter my room in the first place. Thank God my friends who were there for me in every way..

The resort was clean and offered many good restaurant options...which was all that this place has going for it. The air ... conditioning broke the last three days of our trip. Our room was extremely hot, humid, and uncomfortable. The electricity also went out at least once a day, which made it difficult to keep our room cool even when the a.c. was working. The restaurants were also very hot, which made it difficult to enjoy dinner. Room service and housekeeping personnell were somewhat unfriendly and inattentive to details. The elevator broke in our building, so we had to climb 3 flights of stairs every time we wanted to go to our room. Overall, I would NOT recommend this resort.

The hotel location and look was great! The food was just simply amazing! The only problem was that on my 4th, 5th, and 6th ... day the air conditioner didn't work and the hotel had informed me that the generator was down and they were currently using a backup generator. So basically, every single room and place in the hotel didn't have any air conditioning for those days. On my last day (7th day) the air conditioner was working and I was able to get a good sleep. Overall, I love my trip and I will definitely go back again. I just hope the air conditioner doesn't shut down at all.

We loved the rooms. Very spacious with jacuzzi inside. We also did the elegance club which I highly recommend. As part of the ... club we had our own pools which I liked because it wasn't filled with kids. The concierge took care of everything we needed. I thought it made things very convenient. The beach was great with plenty of palapas for shade. The food was good also. Do not use [...] at tours desk because I believe I was scammed by him. Just a warning.

I stayed at Majestic Elegance Punta Cana for 4 nights with my fiance and two friends. The resort is beautiful, the room was ... really nice and generally clean....the beach and pool were only steps away from the building our room was in. For the most part, the staff was polite and fun, always smiling and willing to help. However, our bags were misplaced after we checked out and had them placed in a baggage holding room. It turned out that they had gone on another van accidentally and were at the airport, but we had a very difficult time finding that out. No one wanted to admit to wrongdoing, and we arrived at the airport more than an hour late (and being that we were flying internationally, this caused a lot of stress and tension in the last few hours of our time in Punta Cana). The situation did work itself out, but I must say, that we felt we should've received some sort of compensation for the lost bags.

I have more than 5 years traveling with orbitz, and this is the first time i been,treat like i din't paid, i travel with my ... wife, and she is pregnant, and in the hotel when we get there, i explain that and they dosen't care and treat us bad,we call the manager and he treat us worse, arrogant and he dosent care i explain him that i was driving for more than 6 hours and my wife need to rest, but he only whants to charge us 980 us, dollar because in the reservation my wife was not included, i try to explain him that i make a reservation for 2 persons and mabe it was a mistake, and i even call orbitz, and they call him to remake the reservation,but he try for all the causes to charge us with the money,over there, they call from orbitz and tell him they resolve the problem and he can recheck us, but he dosent what because he need a confirmation by fax, but orbitz send him a e-mail, but he dosent whant to take that,He whants the paper (fax) what an IGNORANT, waht kind of MANAGER IS THAT, allwasys negative with the client, remember mr. manager that we the costumer paid for your salary, and with arroganci a prepotency you never get more than a simple manager of a front desk, owners of the majestic elegance check the kind of people that works in your intalation because you going to loose many customer, for people like that..........and his name is [...], BUT WE DOSENT WHANTS TO SHOW ME HIS LAST NAME. Our trip to Punta Cana Majestic Elegance was for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect! We wanted a place where we ... could relax and enjoy paradise! And this was definately the place. The resort is gorgeous and perfect for those who are looking for a place to just escape reality! We got the Jr. Suite and it was amazing...very private and the view was stunning (just make sure you request to have the pool/ocean view). Our room had a jacuzzi inside and also one outside on a private balcony. The food was great and perfect for everyone with varying tastes. The buffets do everything separate so you can basically create your own meal! The staff was there to help and serve you and to ensure you had the best vacation possible! They will do whatever they can to make sure you are enjoying yourself and well taken care of. This is definately a place we would visit again and we were even trying to figure out how we could skip a few more days of work to stay longer :) I would recommend this resort to anyone one of our friends or family.

We felt the overall trip was great. There is a cultural difference and if you can't deal with it, go to a different ... country. We were in Punta Cana 10 years ago and found there were not many changes. The majestic elegance was a great hotel, not far from the airport, and very well maintained. The staff was constantly cleaning, making small repairs and doing an incredible job with the grounds. The bar staff did all it could to accomadate you in your drink preference. The restaurants were ike all other all inclusives. The variety was good and the local and American dishes were well represented. They did have awesome hamburgers which was not expected. We also like to try the native dishes and their seafood was excellent. We did have a little trouble with the lobster tails as they were not always completely cooked. Overall it was a pleasant experience. There were plenty of children activities and the adults had the shows, night clubs, casino(which was very small). for the price, location, and cleaniness, it was a great deal.

Some of the restaurants are not airconditioned as Americans like. Some of the service was slow. If you want drinks with dinner, the best bet is to get them at the bar yourself before dinner.

Not much nightlife at this place. There is a disco for younger people and a casino with shady rules, but not much else.

Some of the restaurants are not airconditioned as Americans like. Some of the service was slow. If you want drinks with dinner, the best bet is to get them at the bar yourself before dinner.

ask for extra towels immediately. washclothes as well. you may not get fresh towels every day so better to ask as soon as you get there.

There is always something going on like jazz shows, one of the nights they hosted a Michael Jackson show that I can say was fantastic. There are clubs that are alos at the location and they have dances lessons, I mean there is so much to do when you are there and it is all included.

There are a couple places that have American currency on the price tags, those places are usually the money best spent and less of a hassle with the store workers who try to haggle with you.

Sushi was great, we ate it more than one night. The Italian restaurant was closed and we were not notified of this. French restaurant was average. I would suggest a snack bar or grill that is open all hours, other all-inclusive resorts have this option. Also try to make reservations when possible.

Do your shopping on-site. We got the best prices that way although selection was limited. There are free shopping excursions into Punta Cana if you're a more "serious" shopper. Arrange it with your Orbitz rep (He's in the lobby every day). [...]

The two best restaurants are the Japanese and the Steakhouse. We ate at both multiple times. Both buffets are actually quite tasty as well.
