nice room, needs work
mre Nov 12, 2009
Saw lots of music museums which were a long drive away. Staff was pleasant, but did nothing about a shade and a light which ... did not work.

Take the freeway downtown as the direct route through city streets is slow and dangerous (narrow with lots of stop lights.)

I would make a point to visit the Peabody hotel downtown for drinks in the evening and also for afternoon tea. I asked their concierge a lot of questions about good things to do and places to eat and he was right on. I would not miss Graceland either because it was way cooler than I thought.

Good buy in Memphis
lynn Aug 8, 2009
I liked this hotel but it was about a 20 minute drive to downtown and that is where we wanted to be most of the time. It is a ... straight drive however down one street. It was about a 20 minute drive to Graceland and the hotel always had directions and helpful tips. The garden and pool were very attractive as well as the lobby and rooms. The elevator did not work one day and we had trouble with our air conditioner turning itself off in the middle of the first night because a new clerk evidently did not check us in correctly and the computer showed our room as being cancelled. I found that to be the most annoying thing. Overall I would stay here again if I could not get something directly downtown.

great price but..........
Flea bites without a dog! Aug 4, 2009
The price was great and the location was good. The hotel overall was really nice and in a good area. However, they put us ... on the "dog" floor and did not clean our room the fist day of our stay. I notified the front desk the first night and the second morning and was assured that it would be taken care of. At 5:30pm the second day our room still had not been cleaned. I went to the front desk again and when housekeeping was notified I was told that the attendant reported we had a do not disturb sign on our door (which was not correct). The room finally did get cleaned shortly after that HOWEVER---my 5 year old twins played on the floor and sat on the floor for about 2 hours that evening and the next day they WERE COVERED WITH FLEA BITES! We checked out about 9am and by about 10am when we were on the road they were miserable! I reported this to the hotel but once again they were pretty unresponsive.

Horrible noisy nightmare...
Nadia Jul 22, 2009
That was my worst experience in hotels ever, we got the joint room with only one door separating us from someone elses room - ... actually bathroom, so I got to listen from 3 AM " adult " movie noice, and disgusting noice frome the persons bathroom which was as loud as if he was right next my bed. I would never recommend to anyone to stay, also you can hear when someone else flush the toilet from stories bellow or above, like slamming it in your head...... Terrible Terrible Terrible.....

Fine hotel, close to food and shops
Lynne May 11, 2008
Traveling with 2 dogs as we relocated, we chose this hotel primarily because it allowed dogs. It was clean enough, but the ... one access door from the parking lot wouldn't work with the room key. The hallways were VERY stuffy and the room was fine but nothing special. Also, the room had electronic blinds with a remote, but they wouldn't close so we were blinded by lights from the nearby hotels all night.

My review of La Quinta Inn & Suites Memphis Primacy Parkway
Tracey May 8, 2008
Nice large room Bed was not that comfortable Only one chair to sit in Maid service was over-eager to get in on checkout ... day Decor is very dated, but it was clean Location is excellent They did have security in the parking lot, which was comforting especially since cars have been known to get broken into in that area.

There are two very nice chain restaurants within walking distance, PF Chang's and Amerigo's, as well as a Marble Slab Creamery ice cream place.
