we only stayed 2 night and check out,the stool in bath room was not fastened to the floor,the shower handle fell off,the ... floors were filthy,the bedding was thin as paper,the resort had a very bad smell. when we walked into the lobby the blinds were very filthy and had a musty smell,we had them move us to another room after one night and it was no better.we checked out the next morning.we payed for the week of 9-5-09 thru 9-12-09 we would loike to get a refund on the nights we did not stay because of the condition of the resort.I will exspect a reply on this manner.

This was a horrible experience. I walked in a supposed non-smoking room that smelled like an ash tray. I layed down on the ... bed and began to itch. Stay away. We ended up down the street at a very friendly Hilton that gave us a 4 star room for the same price and included a breakfast buffet.

Their is a shopping plaza right across the street from the hotel. (Starbucks, Publix, Dots, Bealls, just to name a few stores) Atlantic Ave has every restaurant you can think of on it, except Cheesecake Factory. That's the restaurant my daughter wanted for her birthday. So we went to TGI Fridays instead.

The pictures of the resort look great...A picture did not tell the whole story!!! The lobby is inviting the rooms and ... parking is terrible. There are nickel and dime fees, (parking, safe) which were not listed on the website when I booked. I upgraded to a suite so me and my kids(end of the summer jam) could enjoy the beach in style. The room was backwards you walk into the room, kitchen, and then the living room area. This use to be in one point in time a great resort you could even see the old paint from previous renovations on the wall. The room smelled of rotten food, the toilet kept running so you had to giggle it to stop it. But the worst was the molded lounge chairs by the pool. Definetly not worth the money.

It was a great experience. The hotel was a great place to stay. The only thing was that when we needed housekeeping to come ... to the room either they didn't show up or they took a long time. The price was great and the location was too.

We went to Daytona to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday. And we had such a wonderful time at this hotel. This is a great ... place to stay with kids. On Friday night their was music at the Tiki Bar and dance stage. Everyone was invited, even the kids. The DJ did an excellent job of mixing up the types of music so everyone had a chance to dance. And that is what we loved so much about my stay. The hotel even has a comedy club, but I did not go this time. The pool was nice, but it was a little crowded. The hotel is located right on the beach. So excellent location. My room had a kitchenette, with a full size refrigerated. So stock up on drinks and food. I just loved everything about this hotel.

OK if you aren't in the room much

Originally from Daytona Beach and went back for a class reunion. Since we weren't in the room very much it was ok, but could ... never get the front desk to answer any calls when we called down, maid service never came, the curtains only covered 1/2 the windows. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal, but if you have ever experience a sunrise on the beach (yes we should have been up watching it) then one knows you can't sleep as the sun is shining brightly in your eyes.

No matter when you arrive you will not get you room key before 4, but it does help to get there early and check in that way ... at 4 u just pick up your key. Rooms are a nice size but the fridge in 421 had a lot of rust spots on it. there were no wash cloths just towles. elevator is really slow and the stairs are very hot. But for the price it was an enjoyble stay.

The location of the hotel was great. It was right on the beach and close to the airport which was conveinent for us. The tiki ... bar outside was nice & the hotel has a good breakfast. Unfortunately, the hotel wasn't very clean- a few bugs & certain parts of the hotel had a weird smell. The hotel needs alot of work. The hot tubs inside and outside were not working. I guess over all for the money we paid the location was great. I highly doubt we will stay there again though if we choose to return to Daytona.

The hotel was nice just an older one. The water pressure in the shower was slow and I had a problem with my door not wanting ... to shut but there wasnt anything I could do about that even maintenance couldnt fix it. Nothing that would cause me not to stay there again couldnt beat the price and location.

tried to check in early room had been ready for hours but front desk very rude and wouldnt budge from the 4:00 p.m. check in ... time. bathroom ceiling tile wet and falling in. pool was dirty and other guest had ask it to be checked for the last 3 days pump not running. both hot tubs closed. not worth half of price paid.

This hotel is in walking distance of stores and restaraunts. Beautiful view from balcanies. It was clean but missing some ... kitchen items that we had to request. The down side was several items in room in need of repair: closet doors, lights, remote for tv, hairdryer. For the price would stay again.

We had a great time. The location was awsome. With a rental care we were able to go to various places.Like musuems, ... lighthouse, chocolate factory, the speedway, comedy show. We went to Orlando, went on a air boat ride, gatorland, Titanic tour,went to a Luau dinner. We found lots of great resturants. We would do this again.

LaPlaya Hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I have never paid so much and received so little. This hotel is in a ... very bad state of repair. Upon check-in I was given two key cards that did not work. I had to walk back and forth to the office three times in 97 degree weather to get the cards recharged. When I finally got into the room, I found the balcony door sealed shut with a devise that was impossible to open. I tried to call the front desk to report the problem but the room phone did not work. Upon discovering the dead phone, I had to resort to my cell phone. I reported the locked door and dead phone to the front desk. The customer representative told me that she would send the maintenance man to my room. I waited for the maintenance man for two hours. I called the front desk. The customer service representative told me that he will be there shortly. I waited for seven hours. Finally I caught the night time maintenance supervisor ([...]) walking near my room. I asked him if he was coming to my room the fix the door. He told me that his department never received a work order for our room. The time was 11:45PM. He told me that he couldn't fix my door because he was going home. I had to beg him to fix my door. He finally did.I had to wait until the following day for someone to fix the phone. The carpet was old and smelt musty. When we finally were able to sit on the balcony we found only one chair. We had to call the front desk again to report the problem. We found very large aunts crawling all over the chairs of the balcony. We could not use our balcony so we sat at the pool. My wife was bit buy one of the aunts. This hotel should never be rated any higher than one star. It is a very old hotel that needs to be shut down until it is totally remodeled.I am worried about using orbitz again.

The hotel was fine for me but I could see somebody else saying it was a little shabby and it has nothing to do with the ... housekeeping staff. I don't think the rest of the hotel measured up to the appearance of the lobby. The staff was very friendly and polite and I will probably stay there again.

My wife and I have had such a year we really needed to get away with the kids to have family time. We always stay in Daytona ... at another hotel. We decieded to shop around on Orbitz. So we found the LaPlaya Resort. They had so much to offer. The seperate kitchen, large rooms, pool just steps away from the ocean, tiki bar while relaxing at the pool, comedy club, bar-b-que everyday on the pool deck. So we booked the room at a very reasonable rate. When we arrived it was everything we had not expected really. It was better. Very friendly staff. Everything was wonderful. I cannot say it is the best hotel in Daytona but for anyone on a budget it is well worth the time to check it out. The pictures dont lie.

The La Playa Resort look good outside but not good on the inside My wife and I had ants in the bathroom shower the bathroom ... floor tiles was dirty and the dirt would not come out. Also had ants in the kitchen and rust spots on the floor by the stove and table. The carpet looked dirty from a flood that had left spots in the carpet. Our vacation was for 7 days our sheets was not changed until the forth day we have not never experience this on any previous trips that we have taken in other hotels. We will never stay at the La Playa Resort again We would like half our money back.
