Europe on a Shoestring Budget
Traveling on the Cheap Nov 21, 2009
The hotel and room was spotless and the staff was very nice. The room and bathroom were very small and the window faced and ... inside fire escape BUT we felt it was reasonable for the price we paid and felt comfortable and safe there. The breakfast (included) was really great with plenty to eat and delicious fresh fruit, juices, pastries, cereals, scambled eggs, etc. The location couldn't be beat and if we are blessed enough to make another trip to Rome, we would stay there again.
Traveler type: Couples
If we could do it over again, we would do our sightseeing differently. Wish we would have taken the hop on/off bus and scoped things out first. We wound up walking from Vatican City to the coloseum and beyond because everything was so close but started rushing everywhere and could have enjoyed the sights much more. We stayed in Rome 2 days after a cruise and should have used our time more wisely. There is so much to see and do!

Modern hotel with doormen
GL Nov 20, 2009
Directly on Via Nazionale which is short taxi ride from Termini train station - convenient. Hotel is posh modern/trendy. ... Hotel staff are very accomodating and friendly. Rooms are quite small, even for Italy standards and ultra modern, esp bathroom and shower, but amazing water pressure in circular small shower. Would stay again. Clean and comfortable.

If gluten free, all pharmacies cell gluten free biscotti and pastas, and all restaurants will cook pasta for you if you bring with you. Via Serpenti had little cafe with nice owners to accomodate.

La Griffe Hotel
World Traveler Sep 23, 2009
Great location in north/central Rome near most everything. We were offered the opportunity to change hotels to get some ... freebies, but once we saw the alternative, we chose to stay. The room was a bit small, but most of Europe has small rooms. Nice place, would recommend it. Very friendly staff; comfortable and great rooftop bar and restaurant with wonderful views.

good experience
Capraros Sep 17, 2009
Central location - walking distance to all major sites. I don't think the hotel is a 5 star hotel (maybe 4 star), but it's ... modern and seems very new. My experience with the staff was mixed - some were very helpful and pleasant, some seemed annoyed if we made a request or had questions. Evening doorman Joseph was the absolute best! Like a personal concierge - made dinner reservations at the best local places for us every night. All we did was tell him what time we wanted to go and didn't have to think about it. We are foodies and all his "picks" exceeded our expectations!

La Griffe was a very pleasant surprise !
CristinaGabriela Jul 20, 2009
The hotel is in a very good shape, excellent located, with a gorgeous view from the roof terrace, but above all, the entire ... staff, from Joseph-the doorman, who by the way , should handle the PR department for his excellent impact on all guests, fluent in English, French, Italian and arabic, being half french and half lebanese, up to the house cleaning, reception, belly boys, all , were very friendly, helpfull and providing excellent services.I was highly impress and due to the entire personell, and even if the breakfast was quite poor in choices for a five star hotel, I will never hesitate to choose it each time I will be in Rome!

Enjoy Fontana Di Trevi, in a starry and warm summer night, it is unforgetable view, unique, romantic! On the oposite side, visit Stock Chic, Piazza Di Spania, 29, an outlet, that we have discovered few hours before our departure and from where, you can buy all famous brands ask for Raluca, she will guide you and you can shop extremely cheap, excellent pieces. I have bought a Galliano silk cocktail dress for 200 eur, that was innitially over 2000 eur!

good location but no five star
msub May 4, 2009
The first room we were given did not have a working ac and was hot like a sauna. When we complained the front desk first said ... they would have to call a technician and we would have to wait for a few hours. When we said we could not, they said they would have to upgrade us as they did not have another comparable room available -- but that we would have to pay for the difference. When we insisted (and by this time we had to get fairly assertive) that this was not fair and the non working ac was not our fault they did upgrade without charging. And then there was the the internet ... in the room attached with the tv but the most clunky thing we had ever seen. They charged us 17 euros for 24 hours but when we shifted the room (30 minutes after checkin they charged us again for internet in the new room). Again we had to argue and ultimately they did charge us only one time. The point is that the front desk had people who were blatantly cheap and out to cheat you. Far from the ambience of a five star ... if you stay there you are doing so only for the location; do not expect a five star attitude.
