We will be back. I have stayed in many hotels but this was the best for the price. They have all the equipment for Tennis, ... basketball, soccer, bacco ball, mini golf, pool toys, games ect. for free. Creek next to ranch is awsome. Went hiking along side of it. Caught many fish and more crawdads. Like camping but without the dirt. Staff wonderful. Resturant very yummy. Horse back riding and free pony rides. Play groud next to tennis and basketball court. Very animal friendly and with out the high price. $5.00 a day for kennal. We will be regulars. This place is perfect. o ya campfire smores $1.00
Traveler type: Family
Horse back ridding stable gives free poney rides for kids under 6 yr old. plus only $30.00 for an hour ride. well worth it.

Location is great -- great hiking and canyoneering almost directly from the parking lot. Also very close to Payson where we ... went "into town" for nice dinners and the rodeo. The hotel bar is very small, but has a great pool table.

Christmas Eve Get-Away
Katherine Dec 25, 2008
Kohl's Ranch is an excellent place to relax and experience the wonderful diversity of Arizona's terrain. There was 1-2 inches ... of snow on the ground, more on the way. The heated pool was steaming, the Christmas lights were shining, the fireplace was roaring, the food was terrific (I recommend the trout, locally raised). Even though it was a holiday, and most want to be at home, the staff was cordial, and most helpful and cheerful. This is the place to go if you're looking for peace and quiet, in a completely different setting than the desert of Phoenix. The room was perfect. It was a short stay, but a sweet one!

Plenty to Do
Deeann Sep 1, 2008
I liked the easy check-in and the option to talk to staff about the recreation they had to offer. We were interviewed and ... then given all sorts of coupons and directions on what to do and where to go. We took advantage and went horse back riding in the Tonto Woods located behind their property.(Gentle horses and good guides!) We had been to the Payson area before, but we didn't know all the free things to do like travel up to the Rim and view the area from the look-outs. The Fish hatchery down the road was interesting to us. The staff was great ---found out on the 2nd day that if we wanted housekeeping, we had to call. The room was great with a patio, true we were off the parking lot; but we could sit under the overhang and rock our chairs during the rain storm without getting wet. The local casino is good and has good food. There are all kinds of local festivals and antique shopping within 20 miles. Overall a good, relaxing time and we will be back!

Cozy Getaway
Ashley Aug 24, 2008
Kohls Ranch is a great getaway. The location was perfect only a short drive to the lakes, and a short drive to the city. The ... staff was very accomadating and the property was well kept. The room was large, clean and comfortable, perfect for a couples escape. I look forward to going back.

The lakes are only about 12miles away, great for a day of fishing. Or rent a boat and take in the scenery.
