Beautiful resort, helpful people.
Very Pleased Customer Oct 25, 2009
The airline got us to the hotel three days late. [...] the hotel slid our reservations back to accomodate us; what a great ... surprise! There was no added fee. The hotel was gracious to upgrade our room. The place is beautiful and we found much to do on the island. Loved the kitchen; we could eat inexpensively because of that. The huge bathroom is a great plus, and the view from the veranda was outstanding, thanks to the hotel staff. The resort advertised a great snorkeling reef but had red flags out every day. But yet they allowed scuba classes at that spot. hmmm used the reef for advertisement, then tried scaring people off, while the paid scuba class continued??The flies are bad at the outdoor restaurant, but if you eat elsewhere, the resort is really nice.Overall, the resort [...] saved our honeymoon.
Traveler type: Couples
When you drive to the resort from the airport, stop at a local shop, in our case - Walmart, and buy your supplies. We bought complete snorkel gear for slightly more than one day's rental costs. Our food was much less expensive, since we had a kitchen waiting for us. Stay away from the typical touristy traps, and you can save a bundle. I spent about twelve hours on the internet looking for deals[...]

We went went snorkeling, riding bikes down the volcano, did the zip line, did a luau, ate at some great restaurants and did ... some serious lounging around. My only knock on this resort is the sales pitch on the time share (everyones has to have a job) and the unexpected parking fees. Otherwise very very nice.

Hold on to what you've got
Missing my Maui Jims Sep 14, 2009
Upon arrival we went to check in and left our hand carried bag with the bellman to go to the desk and check in. Once we got ... to the room and unpacked we noticed that a pair of Maui Jim sun glasses were missing. We did not want to accuse anyone because we wanted to make sure that we had not left them at home. Now that we are home and have had a chance to verify that they were not left at home the only place they could have been taken was at the time left with the bellman. The bag had not left my sight until the point. The laui was the worst laui we have ever been to. It consisted only of children. This should have been told to us at the time of purchasing. We went to a sales presentation which was totally our own option, only to see a major personality change in our sales consultant when we told her no.

KBC is A Spectacular Vacation Site
Mandy Aug 23, 2009
KBC is typically a timeshare DIAMOND Resorts Interntationalization property, so we were fortunate to be able to stay in one ... of their suites. The bathroom was gorgeous and the separate bedroom was lovely. The only drawback is that the resort and affiliated activities want to entice you with discounts on activities when you attend one of their timeshare presentations. It seems as though all Maui activities are tied to timeshare sales. Nevertheless, the activities were oustanding.

Great location, on the beach.
Max Aug 2, 2009
Clean. Huge, updated suites with kitchenette. Grills for cooking out. Affordable. The hotel was everything we needed and ... wanted for a 1-week stay. The location was perfect. On a sandy beach. The pool was recently renovated and huge, never a problem finding lounge chairs. Grocery store is very close but expensive. Several places nearby to rent snorkel gear. Lahaina is a 5 minute drive away, cool shops and restaurants on the oceanfront. If we go back to Maui, I wouldn't have any problem staying here again.

#1 - Get the book "Maui Revealed" and use it as your tour guide. It makes the trip so enjoyable and you won't miss a thing! #2 - Rent a Jeep. They have 4-door jeeps that they don't advertise at the rental companies, it's an upgrade when you get there, totally worth every penny to see the island. I can't imagine going down the curvy oceanside roads in a sedan. #3 - Go to the top of Haleakala for sunrise!! Go the first morning you get there so the time change hasn't set in. You will need to be at the summit by 5am ish, depending on when sunrise is. We used Haleakala Bike Co. and did a downhill bike ride. Had to wake up about 1am to be at the bike shop by 3am. If you have a convertible or Jeep, you could just drive it yourself but the tour guide is nice to have.

Loved it!
Laura Aug 2, 2009
Lovely! loved the closeness to the beach didn't like having to take the elevator to the second floor. Wished there were ... stairs you could take to save electricity and the wait. Also, needed more privacy between the living area and bathroom. The shutter doors were a bit too flimsy and slightly see-through. They did nothing to keep the sound out. Regardless, loved the room size and comfortable furniture.

The shops at Lahaina offer nice inexpensive souvenirs. There is also an Orbitz booking agency for tours on Maui and other islands. We are so glad we went to see Pearl Harbor. At the beach we enjoyed the open air dining and the historical court house and Maui's biggest banyan tree.

Kaanapali Beach Club - Maui, HI July 09
Scary Mary Jul 28, 2009
The hotel itself is beautiful - had all the amenities of home including laundry. The staff provided orientation to local ... activities and I was pleased with what we signed up for. My only suggestion was communication could have been better. For example - I booked a day trip to Pearl Harbor. They neglected to let me know the tour operator had a shuttle available - or that the hotel shuttle could have taken me later in the morning with no impact to the departure time.
Traveler type: Family
ask for precise info on shuttle availability. The west side of Maui bus service was wonderful although the buses run on a one hour loop limiting some activities but overall they were more than suffiecient.

Relaxing experience
Ed Jul 12, 2009
The pool was great (a little cold, but nice)! The staff very friendly and our room was very well appointed. Large bath, ... nice living room and seperate bedroom. Very comfy! Snack bar and grill was pricey! Didn't eat there! Great shopping for food across the street, however! One thing not appreciated was the timeshare pushiness. Tell them no and walk away. Don't be lured by "we have a gift waiting for you" unless you're in the market for a timeshare. We weren't. Otherwise, we absolutely adored the hotel and came home well rested after two weeks.
Traveler type: Couples
To save on breakfasts or dinners, we would go to the stores and get those books that tell you about Maui and cut out coupons "buy one meal, get one free", or "buy one meal, get second half off". Saved alot of money and then we ate most breakfasts' in the room.

Great Getaway
Virginia's RedLeg Jul 9, 2009
We booked the Ka'anapali Beach Club looking for a long weekend getaway (we live on Oahu), and we were delighted with the ... hotel. If you're looking for a traditional hotel with cocktail waitresses roaming the pool and hand-and-foot service, then look elsewhere. This resort, converted to a timeshare property, is a great quiet, out-of-the-hustle place to relax and just enjoy being away from it all. My wife and I went there to celebrate our 5th anniversary (no kids yet), and were able to enjoy ourselves at a hotel that had young couples, families and older couples alike. There seemed to be no prevailing demographic, so we felt comfortable in the crowd all the time. The service we got was always good, but what impressed us the most as the hotel itself. Large suites, beautiful lobby and a beachfront location that framed breathtaking sunsets over the neighboring island of Molokai. There was plenty to do there at the hotel, but we chose to spend most of our days lounging on the beach or by the spacious pool that never seemed overcrowded. We would recommended KBC to any of our friends, and will definitely be going back.
Traveler type: Couples
Across the street is a shopping center with a Star Market (caveat: Star Market is the most expensive supermarket in the islands). Go there for snack and breakfast/lunch foods; with a full kitchen in every suite this will save just a couple (let alone a family) $50/day for food in neighboring Lahaina.

Definatly a first class hotel. Service was very good and the rooms were great. It was in a great location, if you explored a ... little. Only three drawbacks 1. no tennis courts 2..Our room was over a nosiey air conditioner unit overlooking the beach, but we couldn't sleep with the windows open. 3. This is a timeshare property, we got some free stuff to listen to the pitch, but it wasn't too bad. It was a well maintained property with friendly service.
