A Perfect Stay
SJCgirl Oct 28, 2009
The location for access to the Cleveland Clinic is great.....walking distance + there is shuttle service. My room was very ... clean and had all amenities that I expected. I had enough time on my day of departure so asked the staff for advice regarding taking the train to the airport rather than using a cab. The shuttle driver dropped me off at the correct spot where I caught the train quite easily. I asked them about safety and they assured me that it was. I will use the Intercontinental Suites hotel again when I am in Cleveland would not hesitate to recommend it to someone else. I mentioned to the shuttle driver that the staff was so customer oriented and he responded: Many folks are here during difficult times and if we can do anything to make their stay go more smoothly, we're pleased to do so. Then we talked about the Cavs having lost the game last night. Bummer.

Pathetic excuse for a hotel
Bill Oct 4, 2009
When we checked in, our room was roasting hot. We were told to "just adjust the thermostat". That didn't work. Then , we were ... told that "those thermostats dont' work...just wait for the temperature to adjust." Then, we were told that an engineer would be sent up "but in the mean time we will send up a fan." The fan arrived 15 minutes later BUT DIDN'T WORK." I went back to the front desk to request another fan. An employee brought a different one. "It works cause I tried it." Went back to the room..the fan didn't work. Finally, an engineer arrived who told us to open the windows because "you can't do anything about the temperature." Guess what? We're in Cleveland...not a quiet location to open the windows. My wife was scheduled for surgery at the Clinic in the morning. Not a good sign. We checked out! Not one single apology about our pathetic experience...except for [...] who understood our reason for an early departure and for Tony who accommodated us at the Intercontinental Conference Center on the other side of the Clinic.

I saved about $80 on breakfast in the hotel by booking our room with the "breakfast for 2 adults" option. You end up paying $10 extra per night, but it is WELL worth it. The breakfast is delicious (get the french toast!) and it didnt cost us a dime extra over the room fee. It would have been $100 for 2 days of breakfast! Instead it was $20.

Really nice rooms!
ATL Girl Sep 28, 2009
Weekend trip for a wedding. We got to the hotel and didnt realize that valet is not an option, you have to pay $16 a day for ... it. No big deal. We had been driving for 14 hours and had left at 3 am that morning. So when we arrived, I was wearing the most comfortable outfit possible...sweatpants and a t-shirt. I walked in to check in only to get an up and down from the hotel concierge. She was quite snooty and unpleasant. I didnt even know that was possible in the 3 minutes it took to check in. Other service after that was amazing. The restaurant and room service staff were some of the nicest I have encountered and even altered the menu for my son. (He only wanted watermelon, so they made the fruit salad into 8 giant pieces of watermelon for him.) The food was quite pricey and a lot of our friends that stayed there didnt eat there. Breakfast for us (2 adults and a 3 year old) averaged about $45 with tip. (see helpful hints below!) The rooms were quite nice with a living room area, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. TVs were in the living room and bedroom (we had a nice king size bed) and pillows and blankets were very soft down. I did find a spot of lipstick on one of the glasses in the powder room, but other than that, it was quite clean. Check in is not until 3, and check out is at 12. But they didnt seem to mind that we checked out almost 2 hours late. Overall a very nice stay.

Looked like a really nice hotel inside and out however, I didn't end up staying there because they overbooked and did not ... have a room available for me. They sent me to their sister hotel which was only down the road to accomodate us. They told me that it was an upgrade but really it wasn't until we talked to the manager. We wanted a suite which is why we booked at the Intercontinental Suites Hotel, but when we arrived at the other hotel, it was only a standard room. We were disappointed and spoke with the manager. First he told us that they didn't have suites to offer, then he changed it and we ended up in a jr. suite. All in all, we had fun and the hotel was nice, but, I guess they should pay more attention to their capacity to fill on any given night/weekend.

Great Location, Enjoyable Stay
guest May 31, 2009
We were in Cleveland for the weekend to look at homes. We wanted to stay somewhere relatively central, and Intercontinental ... Suites fit the bill. It's a 10-15 minute drive from Downtown, Shaker Heights, and Cleveland Heights, so it was relatively easy to get to all the houses. This would also be a great choice for people visiting students or sick friends/family, as the hotel is across the street from Cleveland Clinic and a few blocks from Case Western. CSU is also about a 10 min drive away. The room was wonderful. Our suite had a bedroom, living room, kitchenette (fridge, microwave, sink, coffeemaker, cabinets), work area (table and 3 chairs) and a very large bathoom and dressing room. The entire suite was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The amazingly comfortable beds almost made us miss our flight! Our only criticism would be the lack of a concierge. This made it a little difficult to find things to do in the evening and places to eat, since we were new to Cleveland. The sister Intercontinental Conference Center & Hotel three block down, however, has a full-service concierge. We would probably have stayed there if we knew this, but that hotel is also more expensive and standard rooms are not suite style. Other than not having a concierge, the staff were great, meeting all of our needs. Other random tidbits that are nice: - Complimentary business center (only had 2 computers, but it also had 2 laser printers, which allowed us to do online check-in and print our boarding passes for free) - Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate in the mornings - In-house restaurant (we didn't eat there, but a nice feature)

This is our 3rd visit to the hotel. Each time, we found our room clean, spacious, and comfortable. An excellent feature is ... its proximity to the Cleveland Clinic, for those who come for medical reasons. Also, the hotel restaurant offers decent food at reasonable prices. The selection is limited, but the quality is good. Overall, the hotel offers great value for the price.

Close but rather mundane
Stephen Dec 5, 2008
The InterContinental Suites Hotel in Cleveland was basically average. Was rather surprised by the lack of cooperation on the ... part of the hotel staff when asked for assistance in transporting from the RTA station to the hotel. The room was very hot with no way to effectively reduce the room temperature. The second time I stayed was in a very small room that had very inconvenient internet access, basically on a small bedside table that made use of the computer quite awkward. Found the coffee machine on the floor in the closet. During the first stay, I was in a suite that was much more comfortable and convenient. The room was quite clean and the bed was very comfortable during both stays. About average for hotel accommodations, but a bit less than expected for the cost.

William Sep 20, 2008
The hotel looked fairly new. The Staff was not friendly, but rather very cold, short and not helpful. This was true of ... nearly all the staff except for the manager of the restaurant. There is no parking only valet parking for $16/day. And the valet parking is in the lot next door. There was nothing within walking distance. The room was very dusty. However it was a very quite room. The bed was very good. The internet did not work in the room. There were panhadlers hitting me up for money at the front door. The staff did nothing to move them on. The valet staff has poor.

The suites were very nice - so much room. And the hotel was close to everything we wanted to do. We had a blast - and the ... price of the rooms were very reasonable. The road construction near the hotel was not so great - but we managed quite well in spite of it!

University Circle was very close - we visited the Art Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Botanical Gardens, the Vatican exhibit at Case Western, and dining at a more-than-fun restaurant in Little Italy - it was a very short drive to all of these - and parking was not a problem.

My review of InterContinental SUITES HOTEL CLEVELAND
Kaydean May 4, 2008
I was very unhappy when i finally pulled up to the front of the hotel after driving around for 45 minutes trying to find the ... front entrance to the building. I think it would have been very informative if the receptionist had informed me when I called a week before I was scheduled to arrive that there was a lot of construction in the area and that the hotel was in the middle of the construction site and that the roads leading directly to the hotel were all blocked. Due to the construction, finding my way around was trying to find myself out of a maze. My room was comfortable. Also I did not appreciate that the coffee maker was left in the closet on the floor of the room, that was very unsanitary.

If you have to go to the CLeveland clinic for any reason, this is your hotel. It is on the Hospital's camous and has ... shuttles running every 20mins to each of the mian buildings. However, I would not recommend it for general vacation fun. It is in industrial area with no eateries nearby, etc. Burger King. In dditon, the surrounding nieghborhood needs revitalization.
