Definitely stock up on Bacardi Rum (about 12 dollars a 750ml bottle), Soda, and maybe a little bit of food items at the Pueblo supermarket ( open 24 hrs.) It's right by the hotel, just ask the hotel staff. You would be broke in a day if you drank a bunch at the hotel bars...

InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casin

Mitch Oct 16, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The hotel is close to the airport and conveniently located near the highway and yet on the beach. The casino was in the ... process of being remodeled, so it was about half its normal size. The service was very good, but there was a serious sand flea infestation by the pool that resulted in all in our party getting seriously bitten to the point that I am considering a visit to the doctor (3 days later)!

This was the best vacation my wife and I have ever had. This hotel was about an hour from most of the places we wanted to ... visit, but each night after the adventures we took, we were back in the pool and hot tub. Celbrated my wife's b-day at the hotel pool in the evening and even had the bar help us learn how to sing happy bday in spanish. What a blast! Things to do: Biolumonesent bay in vieques is a must! catamaran by east winds to the reefs for snorkeling. And you must do the ziplines. We were not disappointed with the radio telescope either.

Good, but it was billed as much better

JRCCRW Sep 28, 2009

The hotel was nice by any scale. The beds were extremely confortable. The upgrade to the "Club" or "business center" level ... was worth it for the pool access, but the club room, however, smelled like a musty basement. The doormen were very courteous and helpful, but the front desk staff were not. Apparently the concierge was off for the weekend and no one else seemed to know what to do in his stead. I don't think I would return or recommend, having visited other hotels close by. If the rest of the staff were as pleasant and professional as the front door staff, it would consider returning for the cost. The quality of the breakfast buffet did not meet it's price. I turned in a clean white shirt to be pressed and the dry-cleaning service returned it pressed with burnt starch stains. I am still waiting for it to be shipped back to me in its clean state.

The dining and the drinks in the hotel were way over priced and not very good, and they like to try and charge you for every little thing, there is also a 100 dollar deposit per night that we did not know about, and that took away from our spending money. So I would bring your own drinks and dine some where else!!!

Wonderful

Sparks Sep 13, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

A lot of hotels do not look as good as their pictures online. This was not the case with Intercontinetal. The pics are an ... exact replica of the hotel...BEAUTIFUL. Regarding the staff, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left I was greeted and addressed with with such hospitality. The drinks at the swim-up bar are a must have,i.e. Cocoa de Loco! A room with an ocean view is a MUST have. The food was really good, from the restaurants to the swim-up bar. One extra thing I did appreciate was the security was on site. As opposed to many security guards who walk around with a mean mug on their face and do not respond when you greet them, they did the exact opposite. I was shocked!! I can write so many wonderful things about this hotel but I will stop at this....I WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK AND STAY HERE. P.S. there was an item on my bill that I did not charge. When addressed, conceirge staff removed the charge from my bill. GREAT SERVICE!!

1. Take the bus to Old San Juan. The bus stop is to the right of the hotel and it is only 75 cents as opposed to a cab which will charge you anywhere from $15 to $20. 2. If you suspect you may have lost your room key, let the conceirge know immediately. I lost my room key and by the time I noticed, someone used it and made a charge to my room. 3. The hotel next door, ESJ, has a club on the rooftop and has stores in their lobby if you enjoy shopping. Check it out.

Very Impressed w/The Intercontinental

Mrs Ortega Sep 8, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Our stay at The Intercontinental San Juan Hotel and Casino was very enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ... room was very spacious and it was one of the nicest hotel rooms we have stayed in. The pool area was nicely landscaped and maintained and the beach area was nice as well. The location is great as well. It's still in the city, but far enough away from the heavy traffic of downtown San Juan. It's also within 45-60 mins away from El Yunque Rain Forest and Fajardo (where you can catch a ferry to Vieques or Culebra islands). The drive to Old San Juan for us was about 30 mins long in somewhat heavy Sunday afternoon traffic, but well worth it. Our only complaint was that some of the valet partking staff memebers took very long to acknowledge us and bring us our car, but this was just a minor inconvenience during an otherwise terrific stay.

Beautiful Hotel/Resort

Nena Sep 6, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

I wanted a hotel/resort right on the beach..and this one fit the bill perfectly. The beach and pool areas were kept extremely ... clean, the staff were all very helpful and it was kid-friendly. The hotel matched the pictures on line.

Business Hotel

Emily Malia Sep 1, 2009

The hotel is located in the prime area of San Juan. the hotel is beautiful and the views are great. We had a city view and ... I must say, it was magical. The staff, minus our maid were great and full of information. I would not stay in this hotel again because it was too business like. It did not have a resort family feel to it. We rented a car an traveled the island. Check out Mar Quita in Manati. The most beautiful cove I have ever seen. I thought I was in Hawaii for a second. A ferry from Fajardo to the island of Culebra is a mus

Do not go to Mi Casita in Isla Verde. I have been going to this restaurant for years and the food is outstanding. The wait for the food is always long, but always well worth it. The price is very affordable too. I must say my trip this time was disgusting. The waiters and host were the most unprofessional group of people I have ever seen. Not only did we have to wait an hour to get our food, but our waiter was counting tip money right in front of us. I speak Spanish and I could not believe the racket they had going on. The waiters were actually making fun of their clients. I could not believe the atmosphere. The waiters we laughing with one another and being loud throughout the tiny restaurant. I usually don't complain about this stuff but it was the worst experience ever.

The Overly-charged Hotel

money down the drain Aug 30, 2009

front desk does not explain things you need to know. i wasnt told i needed a parking voucher if i had a car so we paid at ... the booth and was asked what room # and everything. they charged tax on overnight parking. at checkout the hotel tried charging us a second time for parking. we were mislead on breakfast. this girl told us that fruit and bagels were free. turned out to be $36. the manager was a bia . gave us wrong customer service number cause we were reporting them. but i can always get the right one. never again will i come here.

Dining hint, Short Walk

Across the street from the hotel is an amazing restaurant that is affordable and provide local as well as American cuisine. The name is Mi Casita. Keep in mind, PR service is quite slow in comparison with US but then again... you're on vacation... take it easy!

Do: Eat at Kiosko#2, eat breakfast at mia casita across the street from the hotel. Don't: Eat at Jimmy's BBQ at the top of ESJ Hotel

--Randy, Charleston, SC Oct 5, 2009

Dining hint, Long Walk

The dining and the drinks in the hotel were way over priced and not very good, and they like to try and charge you for every little thing, there is also a 100 dollar deposit per night that we did not know about, and that took away from our spending money. So I would bring your own drinks and dine some where else!!!

--Fun guy, Dallas, Tx. Sep 17, 2009

Recreation/Attractions hint

Mi Casita. Not too expensive and across the street for local cuisine. Subway (yes that Subway) for a quick breakfast sandwich from friendly staff. Wasabi for sushi is a drive but worth it.
