Overall, a great location, beautiful facilities with great views of the city, and wonderful rooms. Great HD TV with an ... amazing selection of channels! Valet was expensive but convenient and quick. It would have been a perfect stay, but the hotel did present a few issues. The room wasn't available when we checked in late in the afternoon they extended the stay for the previous guest. The manager on duty offered us a club room (we were in a junior suite) or the option to wait until the room was available. We opted to wait, however the hotel should have provided a means to facilitate this inconvenience besides simply asking us to keep ourselves busy for the next hour or so and calling us when they had a room for us. When we did get the call that the room was available, they found us a new room on a higher floor with beautiful views of the city and the gentleman was very pleasant. Additionally, and sadly, the pool is broke! Despite reading several reviews stating as such and calling the hotel the night before arriving and being told the pool was indeed operational, the pool is not operational. Even more surprising was the fact that the bellman instructed us that the pool was on the 6th floor, but failed to mention it was broke. Only until we got back on the elevator on the way back from the "pool" and happened to run into the same bellman did he tell us that it was broke and to ask for a pass to another hotel. During checkout we tried to kindly indicate our displeasure of this, but was quickly "checked out". As a few other minor details, the TV checkout process didn't work. It would simply hang during the process and never process. Additionally, the "Instant Service for anything you want& anytime!" button on the phone doesn't work. It simply provides a disconnected dial tone. Follow-up emails to Intercontinental were never answered. If you're looking for a responsive and detail oriented luxury destination, Intercontinental likely isn't the place.

You'll pay for the great views
The Rodriguez Family Sep 8, 2009
This hotel is very nice, clean, boasts great views, and has a very friendly staff. The concierge is very helpful and has ... great suggestions for making your trip worth your while. Hotel is a bit off the beaten path, yet only a few blocks from Market street. Views from the floor to ceiling windows are amazing, but prepare to pay for those views. Room service was very expensive ($40 for a burger and soup) and there is wireless internet but you have to pay for it ($15 per day).

San Francisco Intercontinental Hotel
JP Sep 6, 2009
This is my first time staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco. We usually stay at a local boutique hotel ... because we like the feel and the service is usually better. However, I was attending a conference at the Moscone Center (less than half a block away!) and we decided on the Intercontinental. I do a fair amount of travel and I have to say I was impressed! I can't emphasize enough how great the staff was and how accomodating, especially having an infant. Everyone was polite, friendly, and helpful from the doorman to the porter to the concierge to the valet. The hotel met our expectations and then some. Our view was also quite impressive, able to see the SF Bay and beyond. It helped that the weather was cooperative which can be hit or miss for this time of year. We didn't use a lot of amenities but we were able to get a mini-fridge for a small additional cost to help with the baby and they offered without asking to put a crib in the room, but we had brought our own. Thank you Interncontinental.

Comfortable enough
kathye May 29, 2009
Comfortable room, walking distance to shopping but not in a central location - got the feeling of being just outside where ... things were happening. Fee for internet was $15/day - which tells me they expect business travelers, not vacationers. So, I'd recommend it if you're able to stay there on the company's dime. Not worth it if you're visiting San Francisco with the family.

DO NOT STAY HERE
myself May 25, 2009
Too frustrated to comment... For starters, when we arrived they said that the only way to get a King Bed was to pay $40 a ... more per night and upgrade our room. We explained that we did not have the money to do so and that we were there on our 1 year anniversary, but that did not help. After asking for a manager, we were offered to wait an hour and have a king bed in the standard room available. WHY WAS THAT NOT OFFERED ORIGINALLY?The room we were given was on the 6th floor, next to the pool and club. NOISY and smelled like chlorine. We had an amazing view of a sign picturing hawaii saying "You could be here," way to rub it in... The sirens going by every 30 minutes were great also. Thank you for putting us on the street... I guess we should have expected the sirens being that the hotel is 1 block away from 6th street, a [*] heaven. We called for service 5 times in the 2 days that we were there. Each time had to wait at least 45 minutes, which was great when we had things to do. Also, for $28/person, they should have an omelet station at their "world class" buffet. When we complained about everything listed (and more) upon checkout, the lady seemed like she cared and told us that she would make it up to us if we ever came back. We're not stupid enough to find out.I will add that the clubhouse and bellman both had friendly employees. Everyone else there should be forced out onto 6th street.

The Intercontinental is a beautiful hotel, the rooms were fabulous, very clean, very comfortable. The food offered in the ... hotel is very upscale but ridiculously priced. We were told to sit in the bar because it was more casual. So apparently regardless of how much money you spend, you're only welcome in the lounge/restaurant area if you look like a lot of money. I will not be visiting again anytime soon.

I had no idea that the Oracle Conference would be in San Francisco at the same time. The conference was centered at the ... Mosconi Center right next door to the hotel. We arrived a little early and things were very busy, but the staff was incredible. They did not brush our needs aside although we were pleasure travelers. They immediately put us in beautiful rooms -- one with a view of the city and one with a view of the water. It is a wonderful facility and a good value. It is walking distance from the BART station which brought us in from the airport, and there were buses and cable cars nearby. They provided us with all the information we needed including pages of restaurant suggestions. I would recommend it to anyone traveling to the San Francisco.

As soon as I had set my eyes on the contemporary 33 story glass tower I knew this was the right place for me. Valet parking ... and check-in were easy. The room was beautiful with a great view over the city. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I ever had. The bathroom was very stylish and the bathrobe was a nice touch, so was the morning newspaper. The Sunday Brunch at the hotel restaurant was delicious, the service was friendly and the concierges recommendations for outside activities were excellent. Downtown shopping was within walking distance. All in all it was an excellent experience.
