The hotel knows service, you are greeted with drinks, and we even arrived early and our room was ready. The room has an ... outside rain shower, and the most comfortable beds and pillows. We were even there for Hurrican Ida and still got our coffee brought to us at 7:00am. Wind blowing and all. You can't beat that.

The hotel is a real pleasure to stay in. However, this trip they had the outside restaurant and bar area closed for evening ... meals (doing restoration work). We missed this because it is a beautiful setting right on the water. Also, the indoor restaurant had some "extra" cover charges that did not make sense. Not a lot of money, but I just don't like surprises. I will definitely stay here again (this was our 5th trip), but I will make sure I am aware of any "service fees" (like $15/night charged this trip) and other charges that are not included in the room rates.

This hotel has a lengthy shoreline that is fabulous for snorkeling. It also has a dock where boats load passengers for scuba diving, etc.

Beautiful hotel away from the mayhem
Mexico Maven Sep 1, 2009
Wonderful hotel. Excellent service and location. There are some extra hotel charges not accounted for on the Orbitz website ... in addition to what is stated (not uncommon for Mexico). Also, while beautiful, the beach is small, in that there are reefs off the coast and, therefore, not the huge expanse of white sand beach you might be expecting. The turqoise water and snorkeling does not disappoint, however. If you can go during low season (August-September), do it! The hotel is empty and it's like your own private beachfront estate!

Pretty good but....
julesjulian Sep 1, 2009
I thought for the most part it was a nice hotel. When went the week that started their low season and they were only 20% ... capacity so they upgraded us to a nicer room for free which was fabulous. However it is VERY expensive for everything at the resort. Not only was it expensive but they try to over charge you as well. We had to fight them at checkout over spa charges, dinner at Alfredos and their "taxes" they charge. They say Orbitz doesn't pay the basic charges and we would have to pay what equalled $37/day. After lots of fighting we paid them $74 flat and agreed to disagree. I suggest getting your bill the night before and going over it with a fine tooth comb cause they will take advantage if you let them!!!! Alfredos was good but I don't suggest doing more than a meal or two there, it is a total rip off and better food in town. Also don't leave things unattended on the beach if you do night snorkeling, they come through and take everything and then it's a battle getting it back from security!

We have been going to Presidente since 1995. We have always had a wonderful time there. We have become great friends with ... several members of the staff. They are the friendliest we have encountered in our travels. The rooms are lovely (especially the ones on the 52 and 51 side of the hotel). The food is consistently good. The variation of the color of the ocean there is beyond compare and we have been all over Mexico and the Caribbean. We last stayed there August 7-15, 2009. We renewed our wedding vows for the second time on their beautiful beach at sunset followed by dinner on the beach. They do a wonderful job and it is hassle free. You simply check the items that you want for your wedding/renewal and they do all the rest. I always recommend it to my friends and have taken many friends with us. No one is ever disappointed.

For meals, in addition to eating at the hotel, we always have to go to Guido's pizza. It sounds odd to go to Mexico for pizza, but it's some of the best we've ever had. It is made with a tortilla in a brick oven and is just amazing. Be sure to go past the first eating area to the back patio. It is very romatic and pretty. We also love the French Quarter for a taste of New Orleans after we have had our fill of sea food and Mexican food. Go to Palencar Reef for the whole fried fish.

The hotel staff could not have been more sincerely nice! Everybody was eager to help and make our stay enjoyable. The ... location of the resort is perfect. A quiet private stretch of sand, close enough to town to visit or shop, but very private. Although the spa wasn't that impressive, the gym had newer cardio machines and was sufficient.

Orbitz, Booking through you we were offered a discount of 100$ per room or 25% off food and beverage (but it didn't apply to ... the only restaurant open at night nor room service). When we checked out we were told that the offer only applied for 3 day stays (We stayed for 6 days). We got 50$ off per room. You should state in your description of the hotel that only 1 restaurant is open at nighttime and special offers does not apply only for 3 days stay.

Best hotel in Cozumel
Christine Jun 18, 2009
The Intercontinental Presidente is a great hotel, probably one of the best on the island. The staff is friendly and ... corteous. ScubaDu, the diving center on site, is a very good operator. We felt safe diving with them. The rooms were very clean and overall, the hotel maintains and takes care of its property. The wireless Internet was free, however we had problems getting a signal. It's probably because the walls are concrete. There is a business center though for you to check your email. The only thing we didn't like was the noise. We stayed in the middle building on the property and you could hear every little thing outside the door. I think it's the way it's designed. Noise just echos and bounces off the concrete walls on the outside walkway. Other than that, I would make sure you get a receipt for everything you eat or drink on the property because it adds up and we couldn't verify the costs on our checkout bill because they give didn't give us receipts. Also be prepared to pay a service fee that is added for each day you are there. Ours was about $12 a day and added to the final bill. I wasn't aware of it. They say it pays for the housekeeping. Also, be aware of the resort fee that is added each day as well. Ours came out to $75 for five days. Orbitz made sure we were aware of this upon booking the trip. As usual, the drinks are expensive and the food is pricey. But overall, I would go back in a heartbeat! It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip.
Traveler type: Family
Rent a car for one day in the hotel and explore the island. There are island excursions that are available for purchase at the hotel, but it's about $149 for each person. It's much cheaper to rent a Jeep for a day and drive around at your own pace.

I will NEVER stay anywhere else in Cozumel. It deserves more than 5 stars !!
