The location is very good - close to all the tourist attractions but very quiet in the same time.Great pool.I was there for ... the research conference with 2 colleagues of mine. The room was not prepared for 3 people, there were only 2 double beds,so we had to share beds, which was inconvenient. I did the reservation in advance and specified our needs, but we were not accomodated. It was a good trip overall.

WE HAVE STAYED HERE SEVERAL TIMES. MY WIFE USUALLY BRINGS HER MOTHER HERE IN THE SPRING EACH YEAR (GREAT FLOWERS IN THE ... SQUARES LATE MARCH-EARLY APRIL). SHE IS IN HER EIGHTIES AND THIS LOCATION ALLOWS HER TO WALK TO ALL THE LOCAL ATTRACTIONS. WE FEEL THE SUITES ARE THE WAY TO GO, THEY OFFER MORE ROOM (WHEN BOOKING, ASK FOR BAY STREET SIDE, BETTER VIEW). PARKING AT CHECK-IN IS LIMITED AND CAN BE A HASSLE, BUT TRY TO THINK ABOUT THE GOOD TIME YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE AFTER YOU PARK. EARLY OCTOBER BRINGS OCTOBERFEST ON THE RIVERFRONT, CRAFTS, FOOD VENDORS AND LIVE MUSIC. A REALLY GOOD TIME!

We had a blast on our trip to Savannah! The only problem we had with the hotel was they gave us a key to someone else's room ... and when we unlocked "their" door, let's just say they were right in the middle of an um...ahem, "afternoon delight" and we barged right in with out suitcases. Our mouths dropped and we just turned and ran to the stairs and back down to the front desk. It was hilarious though and we laughed about it the entire trip. The location was PERFECT and the price was great. Rooms were nice, a little small but nice. I'll defintely stay there again!! I recommend the Ghosts and the Graveyard trolley tour and the Haunted Pub tour. Be careful after dark in the touristy areas though. I heard from several locals it's not a good idea to be out walking around on your own.

Great location with in the City. Walking distance from everything so didn't have to drive around city looking for parking ... spots. Staff was very helpful. There is only on thing that put a bad mark on the trip and that was the river boat ride. It was terrible and the boat smelled and it went no where just up to the bridge and then down to the end of river walk. A waste of money and time!!!!!!!! Have a great hotel in a great location made up for that!!!

We were passing through Savannah on a trip, but planned on staying a full day because of all the historical beauty and ... culture there. The hotel was decent for the price, but the location cannot be beat! It was in walking distant to all the good shops, restaurants, and everything else. The rooms were not "dirty" but were nothing special. It was just ok. But the beds were very comfortable and clean. It is an old hotel, so it just has that old type of feeling, which could be seen as "dirty" but they have done a good job cleaning the rooms and bathrooms and they are nice.

The hotel was recently renovated and our room was clean. Our first room had a weird smell, but they quickly moved us to ... another room and it was fine. The only problem we encountered was their Business Center. It housed two computers for guests to use. Not only are the computers very old, but neither one of them were able to connect to the internet. I alerted the front desk of the problem, but when I went back the next day to check in at the airport, they were still not working. That is very frustrating as a traveler especially if you didn't bring a laptop because they advertised computers for their guests.

Hotel staff is awful
Richard in Roswell Jul 29, 2009
This hotel was not what we were expecting. We came in with 2 groups of 4 adults. All married and in our late 20's. First ... off the staff at the front desk is extremely rude. Nothing was ever their fault. The kind of people who feel like they were entitled to their job. Just so you know in advance, THE LOCKS ON THE DOORS DO NOT WORK!! I REPEAT THEY DO NOT WORK. Our room went to the front desk at least 8 times over 3 days and each time the ladies at the front desk would say "don't put the key next to your cell phone or credit card." HAHAH. Yes...thank you for the hotel 101 front desk. Second...The rooms are TINY!!!! We elected not to go for the suite for the extra $30 a night, but we didn't realize that we wouldn't have enough room to move at all in our room. The suite was a good size, but the group with us that stayed in the suite said the AC didn't pump enough air and it was at least 85 degrees in the upper level. The front desk made a comment stating "that's just how it is." Of course that didn't go over well with them, so they forced the front desk to give them another room. The other room was around 80 degrees, but the front desk offered a nice fan to set next to the bed. What a great resolution. hahahah. Anyways, don't stay at this hotel. Spend the extra $50-$75 a night and spring for the Marshall House. You won't regret it. My wife and I got engaged their 2 years ago and it was a wonderful experience. Excellent staff and hotel!! Oh...and a reminder...THE LOCKS AT THE INN AT ELLIS SQUARE DO NOT WORK....I REPEAT...THEY DO NOT WORK!!!! I would go on, but I don't see the need. FYI...Savannah is one of my favorite cities in the southeast, but I certainly hate this hotel!

The location was great and for the price this was a perfect choice for our first time in Savannah. The rooms were clean, but ... not very big. It didn't bother us, but it was something I noticed. The service was so friendly. I reccommend this hotel for sure for anyone going to Savannah.

The room was not ready until after 4pm. However, we had to check out by 12 noon. The ac didn't work. The vending machine ... was down. The shower rack broke. The internet didn't work. We did enjoy the beach, however. It took 4 tries for the parking card to work. We spent an hour trying to get that straight.

Kate Jul 10, 2009
This is a modest hotel, but right in the heart of Savannah. All the attractions and best restaurants are within 5 minutes ... walk. The best part is the breakfast buffet. It was very substantial and not like in many other hotels- just pastry and jam, there were hot items too. The breakfast area was very spacious and modernized too. Though the rooms are standard with very small bathrooms, this is the best hotel for the money in downtown Savannah.

Courtney Jun 2, 2009
We got to the hotel too early to check in. But the girls at the desk called housekeeping to see if a room was available for ... us. We weren't able to get in right away, but we didn't have to wait until 3pm for the normal check-in. It was nice that they didn't just turn us away and tell us to wait. The information lady was EXCELLENT at informing us about stuff to do and what tours to take. The tours were a bit pricey, but fun to go on. **My one problem was that one morning we decided to stay in a bit late in the room and the housekeeper came in to the room WITHOUT knocking first. I found it very rude that she didn't even knock before entering. She just figured we were out.
