Nice Hotel! Lots of things for the kids to do at the hotel. It's very close to the Fashion Island. That's a plus. The rooms ... are old but clean. We would stay at the hotel again. It was a nice family trip.

We were in Newport Beach for a wedding, and needed lodging for a single night. The location was convenient, the room was ... comfortable, and the price was right--and we were thrilled to find we only needed to stumble as far as the lobby for a Starbucks the next morning. Would definitely recommend to others, and would also put it at the top of our list for longer stays, as well. (Wish we'd had time to enjoy the facilities!)

From the front desk & Concierge to the wait staff in the dining room, we found everyone there to be frinedly, professional ... and eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Our room was pleasant,clean and comfortable. We were there to visit the Pageant of the Masters and stayed for one night only so we really were not able to take advantage of all the hotel had to offer, but we did notice the inviting pools, the gym and the many activies offered. The only complaint I would have is that the self parking lot was quite a distance from the Lobby and our rooms. In addition, the uphill climb from the lot would influence us to request valet parking next time. All in all, however, we found the hotel to be a great value. We enjoyed our stay very much and will probably be returning

This hotel needs a good kick in the [*]! It is an older hotel, but in a great location with beautiful grounds. But it is not ... very well maintained, the trash cans were always full, cigarette butts all over the walkways and it needs painting.We specifically requested a King room and were assigned a double. When we asked to change rooms we waited a half hour for new keys. All the staff would say was "we are very busy" (they we not that busy).The hotel mamnger needs to get his staff working again. This is a Hyatt Recency for gosh sakes!

Due to airline delays, we arrived 6 hours later than originally scheduled...after midnight...nevertheless, the front desk ... and the driveway attendants were very attentive and helpful. Since we have family in the area, we did not avail ourselves of the concierge services. The room (king bed) was clean, service was fine, and we were very pleased and enjoyed our room's balcony (nice wrought iron chairs and table) with the beautiful view of the Back Bay. The hotel staff seemed to be steadily tending to the lovely landscaping and beautiful flowers , which we also enjoyed from our room, and was all over the property,as well. Parking=TOO FAR and should be free!

Beautiful hotel and the grounds were impeccably manicured. Fun to walk around the beautiful tennis courts and ... wedding/reception gardens. Food was great and it seemed like everyone was waiting around to help you - we came the weekend after new years eve. Close to balboa island, and the water, so there is lots to do. Wish we could come back soon!!!

Excellent service - staff's desire to please was outstanding. First night the troom refrigerator reeked of fish. When I ... mentioned this the next morning, desk staff said it would be completely replaced ASAP. It was, plus they voided the charge for my one movie rental to make up for it. The complex is lovely, and the attention to detail in landscape upkeep impressive.

The Hyatt was in a fantastic location. The room was clean and cozy, and had a private balcony. The grounds are beautiful, ... it was pretty cool and rainy that week, so I did not use the outdoor spa or pools. The free shuttle service to Fashion Island and Balboa Island was great. The free airport pickup was great too. The drivers were friendly and knowledgable. I enjoyed the conversations we had. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The room had a nice soaking tub, which needed a quick drain fix (which was taken care of quickly by staff). The only MAJOR complaint I have was there was no free WIFI. They charged an outrageous amount for internet access. Since this was a half business, half vacation time trip, I would have liked to have internet access.

Don't miss Balboa Island. Many small unique shops and artwork. The food was very good, they have a little grocery there for any fresh food you might want. Sitting on a dock at the bay was quite relaxing. Fashion Island is OK, it's like a small Mall of America. I didn't buy a thing there.

Very nice central location, beautiful grounds with many flowers blooming, and an especially good acommodating staff, friendly ... and informative. Will probably stay again at same location. Close to John Wayne airport and the Ocean, wish I was still there it's snowing here and COLD!!!

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency NB because of its terrific location with an easy walk to the Back Bay, and only a block away ... from Pacific Coast Hwy. Overall, I gave the hotel a good rating, but only because I switched rooms. The first night I stayed in a room near the pkg lot that was in bad need of an update. It was dark, with only a small window, and it seemed to echo outside noise. In fact, it was almost cave-like. The worst part: the next morning I saw a blood stain on the carpet. I asked for a new room immediately after my discovery and the staff was very apologetic and accommodating. My next room was beautiful, clean, light and noise-free. The only other thing that was bothersome is the self parking. They say you can use your room card to get in and out of the lot, but it didn't work 3 out of the 4 times I tried. I also think $18 is an extravagant price to pay to park. I was tempted to park on the side street that's adjacent to the lot, but chickened out because I wasn't sure if I needed a permit. Maybe if you're more adventurous, you'll try it.
