great weekend
Audrey mother of a ROTC Navy man Oct 26, 2009
I came to visit my son at UT. We got there late and took the back way in, we never heard anyone being loud or noisy. I asked ... for a quiet floor and I got it. We got in and out easily anytime we wanted and the location was great. I have stayed with Embassy Suites before but I have found my new hotel. The only difference between you two is no door to seperate the rooms and I did not see your breakfast so I can't compare. The next time I just need two beds I will be back.

Big looks, small bathroom...
BIGbadJOHN Oct 20, 2009
This hotel was definitely the best looking hotel I've ever stayed in. It seemed almost brand new or may have just been well ... kept. Nothing was really extraordinary about the hotel except for the modern look of the room and the REALLY good smell the hotel always had in the lobby, halls, and rooms. AC worked well and room seemed very clean. I did feel like something continued to crawl on me when I was trying to get to sleep, but I'm not sure if it was an actual bug or just the kinda itchy sheets, so I can't say that the bed was disgusting or anything. It seemed clean. The MAJOR con to this hotel was that the bathroom was TINY by any standards, especially the fact that this hotel is supposed to be all suites! Everything is lavish, but when you have a tiny bathroom, that doesn't really matter. It's not going to happen, but the hotel needs to expand their bathrooms at least double to give any sense of a suite the rooms.

It's quite a long ways, but if you want some of the best BBQ(frankly, the best) you may have, then get a map and head to Driftwood, TX about 15 or 20 miles southwest of the hotel. The restaurant was featured on the Travel Channel's Man v. Food and it lived up to every bit of the positive feedback it received!

Perfect for the price
Tack & Friends Aug 16, 2009
We stayed at this hotel for a girls weekend away from the husbands. It was perfect for the price we paid. It's right off the ... highway and within walking distance to several restaurants. We went and saw Wicked, the off Broadway production. The concert hall was on the UT campus, so we took a cab. I would NOT suggest taking a cab in this city. Both drivers we had were reckless at best, and certainly rude and ill mannered. The musical didn't end til 11 and we got back at 1130 and starving. The hotel has a 24 hour bar stocked with sandwiches, salads, deserts, and junk food. It was overall a great weekend and we would stay there again/

Not bad
Matt Aug 2, 2009
The hotel was very conviently located. Being right off of I35, it was handy to get to all the destinations I was traveling ... to. On the downside, the first room I was given was infested with bugs (termite's maybe?), and they were all over the shower wall and the wall behind the bed. When I went downstairs to talk to the staff about getting a new room, I was a little put off by the lack of concern. Don't get me wrong, they gave me a new room right away, but I didn't even receive so much as an "I'm sorry about that." I'm not looking for a discount or a free stay, but a few simple words can go a long way to showing some care towards your guests.

Big, well-designed room
Texas Mama Apr 22, 2009
The King room is well-designed. The bathroom is at the back of the room, rather than just as you walk in the door. There's ... a wet bar, fridge, and a medium-sized table creating almost a kitchenette area. There's a terrific corner sectional sofa that folds out into a double bed. This is a great layout when you need to stay multiple nights or with children who require a little more space to play. (When the sofa bed is put away, there's a nice living space.) It would have been nice if there had been a microwave along the the fridge, as the area is perfect for eating. Also there was a slightly musty odor, but it was not very noticeable after the first few minutes. We will stay here again.

The staff at the The Hyatt was very friendly and helpful. We were able to get Starbucks for the girls at 11:30 at night ... without any attitude from the staff! How awesome is that!!!! The breakfast bar was great and the 'chefs' were very friendly!

Easy to downtown Austin, stay here and you'll save money to spend downtown. Be sure to see the BATS at night and stop by the Shady Grove down the street for dinner, music and fun.
