The location is accessible to Old San Juan and walking distance to the beach. The hotel is in need for serious updates. The ... first room we were in smelled like mild dew.The furniture looked like 70's throw back and I felt like I was in the projects. Our room was changed to a healthier smelling room. If your just looking for a place to lay your head, but plan on spending little time in your room, then I guess you'll be ok.

Room nice - continental breakfast bad
The Shy One Sep 30, 2009
I upgraded the room to two double beds, frig and microwave. Stayed six nights - great location, block from beach. Walk to ... stores and Casino's. Rented a car and had to pay 7.00 per night to park, should be included! Room was clean and had big balcony. Not all rooms have balconies.

Good digs for the price
TJ Sep 28, 2009
This hotel is great for the price. It has convenient access to the beach and the rooms were well-equipped and clean. The ... place is a little run down and some people in the party complained of a musty smell, but we didn't spend much time in the hotel. So it was fine over-all. Breakfast comes with the room, but it's pretty meager, so I usually went to the Starbucks in the El San Juan hotel a few blocks away. NOTE: Some of the rooms don't have windows! Luckily I read reviews before I booked, so I made sure to reserve the rooms with windows.

Exciting view, great location
Mayagüezana Aug 13, 2009
We spent only one night at the hotel because we wanted to visit family before heading to our final destination. The hotel ... room was like all other HoJos including the fact that the AC was set at a very low temperature. Unlike at other HoJos, the temperature control did not seem to work. We had to turn off the AC so we would not freeze in a tropical island! The restaurant at the top of the building where breakfast is served was great with a 180 degree view that included the ocean side and the island side. Our room faced the island side and we enjoyed seeing the airplanes come in for a landing, and the clouds roll over the mountains, and the rain falling in sections, and the traffic flowing below us.

Dissatisfied Vacationer Jul 21, 2009
Hotel is very old and needs maintenance and upgrades. Rooms were very unclean, contained mildew Sheets were not changed and ... maids entered the room without notice Food was very expensive. Continental breakfast was provided, but it was one muffin/croissant and a small coffee. Would not recommend staying there.

Wont' be staying there again. Jul 7, 2009
This is a REALLY BAD HOTEL! If you have a rental car they charge you $6.75 per day to park it in THEIR PARKING LOT! The ... restaurant on the 10th floor is a RIP OFF! I ordered the same breakfast for 4 days and the price varied from $5.46 to $11.97. One day the coffee was free refills and the next day their not. Same for the soda and orange juice. Staff was not friendly. The beach was across the street. That's it. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME HERE!!!!!

Friendly staff, room a little small and humid but clean. Take care with the rooms because there is same without window (yes, ... like a cruise ship)! Breakfast is in a panoramic view room BUT cheeeap. You have 2 (two) toasts and 1 (one, yes only one) coffee, other thing is EXTRA. And is not self service, then expect delays. Parking is extra too, you have to pay to leave your car there.

Hidden Downside
Thomian Rita Jul 6, 2009
Got in late and did not realize it was a room with no windows! Never had that experience before and did not see that when I ... booked it although it was printed on the Orbitz confirmation. Felt like I was in a "house of ill repute" first floor next to a noisy bar! Embarrasing and claustraphobic! Need to be more explicit about the details of the room!!!

Great location the staff was friendly and courtious. The restaurants were fabulous and the pool was very clean.I plan to ... visit again. The only thing I did not like was the limited view from my window. The window was very small and it gives a clostrophobic feeling. Good thing we were always on the go as vacations should be. I would recommend it.

Very helpful Staff
Megan Mar 3, 2008
The staff at the hotel were very helpful. They allowed for early check in and had storage for the bags since we left late at ... night. They also were very prompt about helping to fix the room key issue. The bathroom is tiny, but the rest of the room is very spacious and makes up for the small bathroom. The pool was small, but very relaxing. My only complaint is the breakfast. You only get juice and/or a croissant/muffin for free. Otherwise you get $2 off of your breakfast. Overall a great hotel with PRIME beach location for the price. I think the hotel staff definitely made up for the price of breakfast.
