Cheaper than official conference hotel
Reno Traveler Jun 29, 2009
I attended a conference at the Salt Palace 4 blocks away. A TRAX train took 3 blocks off the daily walks. The breakfast room ... was pleasant, my room was clean, the staff was friendly and responsive. Disappointed that the outdoor pool was under reconstruction. Why now? June!!!! Should have done in April.

3 blocks to Temple Square. Note, Salt Lake City "blocks" are about twice the normal city block! still, it was a short pleasant walk, and a well-lit neighborhood.

Great for Miller Park Fans
SBK Fan Jun 2, 2009
Have stayed twice now while attending MC events at Miller Motorsports Park. The HoJo is a low-cost, clean, simple place, ... with a breakfast, ideally located close to downtown restaurants after a day at the track. Granted, it's 30 minutes from the track, but if you stay out there, there's not much of anything to do. Better to drive out and back for the day, and then be within walking distance for evening activities. It's basic, but gets the job done, and for a good price point.

Great food and drink just blocks away.

Just what you'd expect
Clark Jan 2, 2009
Simply put, the hotel was completely satisfactory. The room was fine, comfortable, just what you'd expect. The location was ... not as pedestrian friendly as I was hoping, but a lot of downtown tourist sites are walking distance. Access to the interstate is easy.

Helpful Staff
Athen Dec 2, 2007
Howard Johnson was located near the convention center. I had all the comforts I needed and enough space to be comfortable. ... bathroom was separate from the vanity. It snowed so i did not care too much about the pool. I was at the convention mostly, but I had peace and quiet whenit was sleeping time. Given the same circumstances I would stay ther again, and refer friends. the complimetary continental breakfast came in handy when we were snowed in for awhile.

Assistance
Linda Sep 20, 2007
Thanks to the hotel, they did upgrade to 2 beds because a friend joined me for an add'l $10/night. One issue I had was ... the tv didn't work at first so I checked the plug and it looked like an electrical nightmare. They did fix it by the time we returned. The phone cord was also stretched and created a trip hazard which they also fixed. I think the bed was on the cord. A friend of mine couldn't get the hotel shuttle because it was late. Something to keep in mind. It's about $15 taxi ride.

My friend and I spent a lot of time at the geneology library which is about 3 blocks from the hotel. I love the transit system which is about 1.5 blocks away when I went to the Rice Eccles Stadium. Much better than driving.
