quaint and comfortable small hotel
Joe Traveler Nov 9, 2009
When I arrived, the desk manager was extremely welcoming and helpful. He fully explained the billing and hotel layout. My ... room was small, but extremely clean. There were no rough edges or worn out amenities. The bathroom was fully stocked with enough toletries and towels. I found everything in my room in perfect working order. The restruant off the lobby served a quality breakfast with a reasonable price. I would stay at this hotel again and I will recommend it to my friends who need an inexpensive, but nice hotel.

Quaint Downtown Toronto Hotel
Jim Sep 7, 2009
Great location and very friendly, helpful staff. Within walking distance to most major Toronto attractions, e.g., Rogers ... Center, Hockey Hall of Fame. Small downside was that we stayed on the 2nd floor in room on Yonge St. Noise from subway and pedestrians somewhat distracting. Another positive is the Over Easy restaurant that is connected to the hotel. (I believe it's a separate establishment, but it is entered from the hotel lobby.) In any event, had a great breakfast, with excellent service, at a reasonable price. All in all, would definitly stay there again. If you're looking for a hotel in a great location, without all the frills, this could be for you.

We were traveling with our two teenage kids and we were very happy with this hotel. The room was clean, modern, and ... attractive with a big flat screen television and free wi-fi. It was a comfortable size for the four of us sharing the two queen-size beds. It was in a central location, walking distance to St. Lawrence Market and other tourist locations. It was a long but manageable walk to Rogers Stadium for a Blue Jays game. We paid about $120 per night.

Not as nice as I remember
ParksTraveler Aug 16, 2009
We had just stayed at Hotel Victoria six weeks ago and had a great experience. This time, the standard room I booked turned ... out to have two twin beds -- instead of the two doubles we had in June for the same price (granted, this trip was on a weekend, while our June trip was mid-week). Also, the elevator (there's only one) had a nasty squeak that was loud and irritating enough to have been developing for some time. Still a clean, comfortable hotel with good amenities (especially breakfast at the adjacent Over Easy, which was wonderful), but watch what you're getting when you book the room.

The Distillery District is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. It's a fairly new conversion of an industrial district, and it's full of restaurants, cafes, galleries and shops. The Soulpepper Theatre Company is marvelous.

Clean; dark, ugly window scene

I expressed disappointment at horrible view from room window. Was told that was because I had booked a twinbedded room. ... How was I to know that twin beds means horrible view from window? Met resistance on last day getting statement from desk. Wanted documentation that I hadn't charged anything extra. Eventually they gave me a statement. It shouldn't have been such a hassle.

Very nicely appointed room. Equivalent to Hilton, Hyatt, etc. Superb value for the price I paid via Cheaptickets. Only 2 ... very minor negatives: (1) the only ice machine is in the basement, (2) there was very little shelf space in the (large) bathroom.

* upon arrival the hotel lobby did not appear clean * the only elevator did not have a fan in it, and the light to the 7th ... floor did not light up when pressed * the night clerk was very unfriendly, we attempted several times to get a cracked ice bucket replaced with no luck until our last night * we requested a late check out and was granted an additional 2 hours * great location...easy walking distance to the subway or major attractions * room was cozy but clean, unfortunately we did not have a good view

This was a trip with myself and a friend. Although the room was small, it was plenty of room for the two of us to relax in ... the evening time. I would not recommend it for someone with children who need a lot of room to run around. Everything was very modernly decorated, even though it is a historic hotel. The room was clean and the bathroom very nice! The staff was welcoming and helpful and the location was wonderful. I would definatly return to this hotel for another stay.

We stayed in this hotel 20 years ago, and returned to find it in even better shape than the last time we were there. The ... updated rooms featured flat-screen TVs, the entire hotel is non-smoking, and the spotless bathrooms had free-standing sinks (that new modern style) with open shelf space underneath for toiletries. Quiet, restful, and in the middle of Toronto's most popular district (walking distance from CN Tower, Rogers Stadium and Eaton Centre) -- and at a price we could actually afford. Plus, there's a great restaurant on premises, with a terrific breakfast menu.

Our stay in Toronto was much too short, but the location of the hotel was great. The parking option worked out even if the ... directions left something to be desired. The room was tastefully done and very comfortable. We had a short walk to the trolley which took us to an enjoyable restaurant. It was next to the Hockey Hall of Fame-what could be better for a die-hard hockey fan. Next time in Toronto will try to get a reservation here.

I was worried about this place b/c the other reviews commented on how small the rooms were- they were NOT that small. We ... still had a king bed and plenty of room. I've been in much smaller in San Fran and Europe. The bathroom was recently redone and they whole room was very clean, bed was comfy. The staff was really nice and it's in a great location for all the tourist stuff and close to St. Lawerence Market. There's no on site parking, but there's a cheap Municipal parking 2 blocks away. For the price and location I would definitely stay again!
