Ideally located in the heart of Mazatlan's lively Zona Dorada (Golden Zone) and stretched over one-quarter mile of sandy golden beach, the Playa Mazatlan has been providing legendary hospitality based on rich Mexican traditions to countless visitors from around the world since 1955. This full-service resort with its friendly staff has the highest number of repeat guests in the city.

In addition to traditional spa services, the Playa Mazatlan offers a pre-Hispanic spa featuring a temazcal (an igloo-shaped room where you are seated around red-hot lava rocks) and cenote (cave pool), located right here on the property. For evening entertainment, Happy Hour is from 4-6 p.m. daily and there is live music for dancing every night. Each Saturday the Playa Mazatlan's dinner-show, "La Original Fiesta Mexicana," will take you on a journey to experience some of Mexico's richest traditions including folk entertainment, live music, dancing and great Mexican dishes. Every Sunday there is a firework display located right on the beach.

Plenty of shopping, dinning, activities and nightlife to keep you entertained are within walking distance from the hotel.

"Beautiful Place and excellent service"

Rosi May 30, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This is the second time we go to Playa Mazatlan. We had a great relaxing time, and enjoyed everything except the air ... conditioner in our room dripped water for three days maintenance did not fix it correctly. My husband called and complaint. Apart from that a great vacation experience. The beach beautiful, the food and the entertaining very good. Although, we had problems with the air conditioner we still plan to come back to Hotel Mazatlan for a third time and many more times in the near future.

Playa Mazatlan is a wonderful old style Mexican Hotel that is continually improving - upgrading - maintaining their Hotel - ... Gracious employees and wonderful room locations to the Beach, pools, other restaurants and some shopping. I go back year after year and have yet to be disappointed in any way. Smelly room with bugs

Jitarpha Aug 25, 2008

We stayed at this hotel from 08/20/08 - 08/25/08. The hotel staffs are friednly and professional. The hotel have 4 pools and ... fitness room. It has wireless internet inside the room too. The ocean view is stunning from the room balcony but we were so disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. It has an odors and so moist. I have to use a room spary to help with odors. My bed linen has woman's hair on it and you can see little black bugs and ants on the wall. The matress was hard. I also felt uncomfortable with bathroom, everything is old and dark. Overall I was so disappointed with this hotel, wouldn't recommended you to stay in this hotel. This hotel has been there for almost 40+ years. It located in golden zone, many great restaurants and pubs are within distance walk from hotel. We like Mazatlan and we will go back again next year.

Authentic warm Mexican atmosphere

Sarah Apr 6, 2008

Would recommend to a friend!

Reception was very friendly, the rooms were large and so was the bathroom/shower. Mattresses were a bit too hard. Nice ... balcony overlooking the garden. Lots of large tropical trees and flowers. The hotel was directly on the beach with lots of easy access, lots of talapas for shade and plenty of chairs. Waiters at the beach. The large restaurant overlooked the ocean. 3 years ago the food was excellent and we ate there every night for 14 days this time it was only fair and we only dined there twice. It was a beautiful hotel with lots of pools, 2 hot tubs and also very kid friendly with plenty of activities for them. Close to of shopping and entertainment. For a $ 5.00 taxi ride you could go to the old town of Mazatlan, the harbor, the aquarium and lots of other interesting places. The hotel sold us a Jungle Tour which was absolutly the best. So yes, we will go there again, hopefully next year.

Wonderful location

george Feb 16, 2008

Would recommend to a friend!

I spent 10 days at this hotel and was very pleased with the location and proximity to restaurants. The beds are extremely ... hard which is a negative for me. They are also short as I am 6'3. The inside room was quiet, but isolated, so I requested another room. When I spoke to Carmina the manager, I was given a nice room with king size bed and no-smoking, and a view of the ocean. Were I to repeat the trip, which I may, I would spend the extra fees for an ocean view room. It's worth it. Went to the Panama for breakfast and a couple times to McD's which are very close. The conciege was extremely helpful in contacting the El Bigotes restaurant where I lost my wallet. They found it, and I got it back intact. They serve wonderful Carnitas in a garden setting.

Has the flavor of Mexico

Merle Oct 9, 2007

Would recommend to a friend!

As I said, It has the flavor of Mexico. Unfortunately for most travelers they think they eed to go to the large fancy hotels ... in New Mazatlan. They miss out on the experience of seeing and enjoyng the real Mexico. The Playa has a stable staff, a clean hotel, good food and great clean beaches. We have stayed here several times before. We can't remember if it is four or five times and it is still a wonderful relaxing place to stay. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance and the food is great. The one drawback is that there are also many shops for souvenirs and jewlery. My wife thoroughly enjoyed herself.

Do not miss eating at the Panama restaurant that is about three blocks away from the hotel. The food is excellent and the prices... you will like them too.

Would recommend to a friend!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, everyone was very friendly and I got to meet a lot of people from different cities ... from the U.S. I liked my room it had a ocean view which it was wonderful. The hotel location was great it was closed to Panama's, shopping centers, Valentino's was just a walking distance.
