I have traveled a lot in my 64 years of life, stayed a a lot of different locations. Although I was on business for three ... days, the complete friendly smiling staff starting with the bellmen made your worries and concerns fade away as you returned to the Hotel at the end of the day. This allowed you to enjoy an relaxing evening making the next day easier. Thank You Downtown Salt Lake City Hotel Monaco very much. 1205 / 10-10-09 = 10-12-09

Good location - so so experience

Aside from being given what undoubtedly is the worst room in the hotel (directly on the street, 2nd floor - adjacent to all ... the conference rooms - and overlooking the temporary hotel entrance - the primary one was being repaved - the room was good. The temporary entrance resulted in non stop noise - 5AM sunday morning band buses unloaded for an hour engines idling - people yelling etc. When asked if there was another room available I was told - no not at the online rate you have. The room amenities are fine but note this hotel HAS NO POOL. Since it as 90 degrees each day we were in town - we regretted that choice. This was our first trip to SLC - doubt we'd stay here again. Oh yes and then the first night we came back from dinner we found someones very soiled underwear and associated debris on the elevator floor!

Service was great, hotel did require valet parking which was an unexpected expense, but the service was great. The first day ... there our A/C wasn't cooling, but they quickly fixed it. Had to pay for internet access.

Very Family Friendly

The Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake City provides a very unique experience, from its location to its decor. I have stayed at this ... hotel several times before and have greatly enjoyed it every time. On this visit, I was there with my three grandchildren for a weekend of zoo lights, looking at the downtown lights and the main reason for the trip, The Nutcracker. The room was spacious enough to accomodate three children and all of their paraphenalia. The hotel staff was very helpful on ideas for the kids and with a list of things that would entertain all of us for the weekend. The hotel is located conveniently across from the Capitol Theater. With a short one-half block walk, you can board Trax for a free ride to the Gateway Mall, the Energy Solutions Center (Jazz games), and Temple Square. While we are not LDS, we did enjoy all of the thousands of lights on the square and all of the festive lights around the downtown area. There is a great restaurant inside of the hotel. There is also an Olive Garden, and three other restaurants within a three block radius.

Try Lamb's Cafe that's just around the corner. It has the best halibut that I have ever eaten.

I didn't expect much traveling to Salt Lake City. But this was the nice, comfortable, courteous surprise that made my stay ... so enjoyable. The staff was always professional, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Service was impeccable. Restaurant was convenient and the food was very good, if not pricey. I would definitely stay here again next time I return to SLC.

Upon arrival the staff was just terrific; very cordial and warm and totally professional. The Hotel is absolutely beautiful ... and well maintained. The wine reception in the salon was really a nice touch. The location is really wonderful as it is a short walk to Temple Square and immediately adjacent to the local light-rail system. The Restaurant Bambara located on the first floor of the hotel.....let's just say awesome. Some of the best food I have every tasted.... and I have traveled extensively; we had the most awesome server. The last evening at the hotel was made very memorable by Restaurant Bambara and the staff. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else while in Salt Lake. Do yourself a favor...STAY HERE!

Great business amenities
Donna May 5, 2007
The Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City is a delightful hotel. It's style and decor set's it apart from any chain hotel's I have ... visited in the past. Although, I had originally planned on staying in a Queen double, since there was only myself they offered me a smaller Queen single and I agreed. What the space lacked in size was made up for in it's style. The bathroom was generous in size and very clean as was the room. Room service was quick, but over priced. The location was perfect and within close walking distance to the Salt Palace convention center. This hotel is more like a Bed and Breakfast in it's individual style and the personable staff, nothing was too much for any of them to do or help with.
