A lot of different restaurants are within walking distance. You will have a hard time trying to find any fast food type restaurants. There are a few sub places. Plus a few places don't open on the weekends or close early.

Great hotel
Tracy Sep 21, 2009
Our trip started out business but we decided to stay of couple of extra days and check out the city. The outside of the ... building does not do the hotel justice. But when you walk in, it is a whole different experience. The brightness and the aura of the hotel are exceptional. Your senses are taken by surprise from the cheery colors and wonderful scents throughout the hotel and rooms. It is immediately calming and relaxing. I love the "zen-like" theme and feeling. The rooms remind you of a bed and breakfast, but with more of the amenities of bigger hotel. Of all the hotel chains that we have stayed this is the best one.

I was in Dallas for a conference held at another hotel. The lower cost and proximity to the other hotel made the Orbtiz ... package attractive. The Orbitz "distance from" feature was useful for making my choice of hotel. It also influenced my decision to use Orbitz. I am a seasoned traveler and found the hotel to be completely up to the standard I expected. The staff was pleasant and I received timely, no-charge rides to and from the conference location. That simple service protected some of my Orbitz savings from being reduced by taxi fares.

Location was ... within a walking distance of West End, Aquarium, Sixth Floor Museum and other attractions for those that enjoy medium to long walks. Complimentary transportation to within 3 miles of hotel was offered and readily available. Rooms were on the small side but comfortable, pleasant and clean.

thieving valet?
trb Jul 24, 2009
In town for a concert. The parking garage was not labled as the hotel's, so after driving around the hotel 5 times we found ... the valet spot so we decided to stop and then found that it was just across the street but did not have anything to identfy it with the hotel. After coming back down from out room to catch the shuttle we caught the valet with my keys and CD case in his hand...which I had npt asked for him to get. Notified hotel but it was dismissed as a misunderstanding. Had a used bandaid left in the shower. Overall just not a good experience.

Clean, friendly and affordable
BILL May 31, 2009
Was in Dallas for only one night and needed to be downtown. Was blown away by friendliness of staff. Arrived early, got a ... free upgrade to 1 bedroom suite. Rooms were spotless and brightly decorated, but very small. Plenty of dining options to choose from and the original Neiman Marcus is just around the corner. Great value. Priced only $30 more per night than other hotels in the area I wouldn't let my dog stay at. No pool, but fitness room, free wifi in room and lobby, free computer terminals if you forgot your laptop and free shuttle within downtown area for guests.

Eclectic and charming
David Nov 29, 2008
Interesting hotel - nicely remodeled, with a very comfortable bed. I had a great experience with the desk staff. Check in ... was a breeze and the staff was attentive to a small problem with a broken iron. The driver was very professional and served as a tour guide on the way to our destination. It's on the east side of town, making it convenient to Deep Ellum and the Majestic, but with the courtesy van, the West End and Uptown were easy trips too. One note: If you expect a view, ask for a room on an upper floor. The lower floors offer only the garage across the street.

Elm Street garage is across the street from the front door and only $5 a night on the weekends; forgo the $20 valet and park in the garage.

The Hotel Indigo, Downtown Dallas is a nice place to stay; surprisingly the colorful decor along is pleasant and worth the ... stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend taking time out to enjoy the hotel for breakfast and their various coffee, tea, etc. There are also some close by eating establishments within walking distance from the hotel. There's even a little shopping in walking distance as well.

Great Hotel, Bad Location
Ashley Jun 13, 2008
The hotel was great! It looks like something out of a magazine. The service was great & the rooms were a nice size. The ... bad thing is that this hotel is located right across from a bus station so you hear buses running all night. The walls are paper thin & I could hear the people next door talking, their phone ringing, etc. Also, it costs $20 to park at the hotel unless you park across the street and walk quite a ways. The hotel was precious, just in a bad location.
