Beutiful 20th Century Lobby
Iguanas May 2, 2009
The Hotel Geneve is working in upscaling itself. The lobby is beautiful, definetely worth having a drink at the bar or lunch ... in the open patio. The rooms are under renovation. The one I stayed in seemed like an old Holiday Inn.
Traveler type: Business
The hotel is conveniently located close to the main avenues and arteries of the city Reforma and Insurgentes. The hotel is still in the Pink Zone so don't expect conservative views when people watching. Things were safe and comftable.

It is better get a taxi to the Museum of Anthropology though they said it was a 15 minute walk. When you walk through the park it takes about 45 minutes if you are lucky.

Many positives, but not perfect
Kevin Oct 15, 2008
The Hotel Geneve seems to be THE place to stay in the Zona Rosa. The hotel has a welcoming and wonderfully restored lobby and ... facade, and the staff is plentiful, friendly, and helpful. Our standard room was generously proportioned with a modern bath (plenty of hot water and good water pressure), easy-to-work safe, firm bed, and when we needed small things (an additional pillow, an iron, more hangers) they came promptly and with a smile. One drawback is that the outside noises, esp. on the weekend nights, can be heard through the windows, but this is due to the fact that the hotel is located very centrally, which is a major plus when one is looking for an ATM, a walkable restaurant, a 24-hour pharmacy, or to jump on the excellent subway (a short walk from the back entrance). We had a room facing the front, which may have been part of the problem, but we did notice that the fifth floor, having no hallway carpeting, also echoes indoor sounds such as doors closing and clicking heels on tile. Perhaps try for a room at back or for one on the 3rd floor, which has carpeting. It's fun to see the old photos of the celebs who have stayed there in the past, such as Marlon Brando, Charles Lindbergh, Winston Churchill, and Wm. Randolph Hearst and Marion Davies. And we would certainly stay there again!

Special perks: A popular, fun, and varied flea market/antiques fair on weekend mornings at the Plaza de Angel around the corner; a super-friendly bookstore-cafe called El Pendulo one block over with English language books and tables for tea and dessert; and a stroll across Reforma takes you to Rio Lerma for good outdoor dining options.

Good Value
Yung-Chang Jun 23, 2008
Hotel Geneve is a good value. The room was very comfortable and clean, except that the sheets were stained. But the maid ... service was excellent. Many good restaurants are within walking distance, but so are many nightclubs, so weekends are noisy. The hotel is also very close to the Metro and other transportation.

A wide range of dining options nearby of many different cuisines and prices. El Trompito across the street has excellent tacos.

Great Hotel when you visit D.F.
Rick Feb 12, 2008
I stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago, and liked it enough to come back.. However, i was delighted to learn the rooms ... had been renovated, new beds, new carpet, linens, etc. etc. the room was so comfortable... The staff is very accomodating!! The only complaint I would have is that the internet fee is $150 peso per day and the connection was very poor in the room.

Nice hotel
Adrian Jun 25, 2007
The Hotel Geneve was definitely a great hotel for the price. It would not be suited for a business traveler though since ... Wifi is extra and the signal in my room was not great either. Also, our room faced a busy street so if you don't like noise, I would request a room away from the street. This is in the middle of the Zone Rosa entertainment district, so don't expect quiet.
