Staying for the weekend, there was no problem. The only thing a little dissapointing was that our room was much smaller than ... expected from the photos and didn't have much of a window to see outside. Everything functioned well and big screen TV was nice, but two people in the room felt a bit crowed.

Tomatos on kleenex Sep 8, 2009
The hotel is located on a nice spot on the reforma. Suprisingly, the pictures posted are actually what the hotel look like, ... unaltered and true. It is next to a bank so a quick, safe run to an ATM was a plus. The petite room was quite comfortable; not overly spacious but ok for 1. The bathroom was quite nice. I liked that it wasn't too busy as with larger hotels. The restaurant is great; easy access and there's always room. Staff is courteous and quick. I didn't get the 15% off food and beverages as promised but that's ok. I will definitely consider staying there the next time I go to Mexico city!

A 1/2 star hotel charging for 5 stars
Traveling David Jun 23, 2009
On my first night in the hotel, the sink didn't work, computer access didn't work, and the air conditioner didn't work, ... making the room unbearably hot. I switched rooms the next morning. Two nights later, there was a plumbing problem of some sort making the room smell like a sewer. It was so bad it woke me up from a deep sleep, and didn't dissipate until the maintenance man spent a couple of hours there. Two nights later, the bellboy ignored my "do not disturb" sign and knocked on my door for 15 minutes (at 3:00 am) until I awoke. I tried to contact management about these problems, but the General Manager was "too busy" to talk to me for the entire 2 weeks stay.

Great value at Orbitz!
UCLASteve Mar 7, 2009
I booked at a "special" Orbitz rate that was about 1/2 the rack rate. Fantastic value! This is part of a medium-sized chain ... of boutique hotels in Mexico. It offers comfortable rooms and amenities. The regular room was fine for one person, but would be cramped for two. Otherwise the location was ideal for tourist activities (I walked to the Zocalo, Park/Anthro museum, Polanco district, etc). Reforma, the street in front, is mostly closed off on Sundays for bicyclists. Overall an excellent choice.
Traveler type: Single
There are lots of restaurants in the Zona Rosa and, not too far away, in the Polanco district. I went in search of one I read about, which had gone out of business, but there were plenty of other options. Just wander and enjoy!

A great hotel: secure, and well located
Illuminarti Mar 7, 2009
This hotel offers a great base to explore Mexico City; located on Reforma, just a minute from Insurgentes, and the Metrobus ... stop, it also offers easy access to the historical center of the city, on buses that run along Reforma. The park at Chapultepec and the Metro station at Auditorio are a little further afield, but easily walkable, or just a short bus ride away. During the day, the area is busy and seems safe; at night it might be better to be cautious - but that goes for most of Mexico City, I think. I was in a 'Petite Room' which was, indeed, small - but not ridiculously so. It was quite stylishly decorated, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was pleasant, with a good shower, although the jacuzzi bathtub was rather small, and had ridiculously low water pressure, so it took forever to fill. The hotel description made reference to free wifi - but that is only available in the lobby and restaurant areas; the room had an Ethernet port. The coffee shop downstairs in the front of the hotel has a good selection of coffee, and is a good place to watch the world go by outside; however it seemed to close early on weekend evenings. I didn't eat at the more formal restaurant, but the causal restaurant/bar was spacious, attractive, not too expensive, and the food was quite good. The staff were friendly and helpful, although the slightly over-evident presence of security staff and video cameras in public areas took a little getting used to; although it was also reassuring at the same time.

Take Metrobus south to Poliforum, and go eat dinner at Bellini's - the revolving restaurant, at the top of the World Trade Center - good food, fabulous views. And while you're there, visit the Poliforum itself, and marvel at the giant murals.

The hotel was nice but lacked the luxury one would expect from a four star hotel. The room was on a non smoking floor but I ... could smell smoke from a room on the floor. The tv and vcr were nice, but the bed was a bit hard. The pillows were also not what one would expect in a high end hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

To the left about a 25-30 minute scenic walk is the anthropology museum which is a must see, along with the art museum, and many other attractions. to the right about a 30 minute walk, is the famed and grand zocalo, with the palace the cathedral and templo mayor, aztec ruins in the heart of mexico city. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO SAYS MEXICO CITY IS UNSAFE!!! The people are gracious, friendly, warm and helpful. We felt safe from beginning to end. Never a problem at all. Just okay
Jessie Oct 7, 2008
The Emporio Hotel in Mexico City is a great boutique hotel for a day or two but, not for business. The business amenities ... need an upgrade, the computers are very slow. There is only one printer and you have to email your document to the business center staff person in order to have it printed. She does not arrive until 9:00 AM and leaves at 5:45 PM. If you need to use the business center before or after those hours, it is difficult. The hotel has been renovated, it is clean and well kept. The rooms are small with limited closet space. All rooms have nice flat screen TVs and dvd players. The bathrooms are spacious and new. The hotel is very secure, there are men in suits wearing earpieces everywhere(very secret service like). There is a coffee shop on the ground floor with a variety of coffees, tea, cold drinks, light fare and desserts. The coffees are good. The restaurant/bar is on the first floor and the food is less than desirable. The menu has been the same for the last couple of years and is quite bland. The hotel offers taxi service, the fee is a little higher but worth it. I use the service for security reasons. There aren't any good restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hotel and there is not much to do within walking distance. If you decide you want coffee in your room, be sure to ask for a lid on the carafe.

Great central location
Damon Sep 26, 2008
Hotel is in great central location near historic center and museums. Hotel restuarant was good, with a buffet throughout the ... day that seems to very busy with local businessman; and first floor cafe was also nice. Hotel staff were friendly and would try to accomodate even if you couldn't make request in Spanish. Junior suite was very nice with flat screen tv with english channels, average size bath, and is very private as there are no adjoining rooms. Only extra charges were for additional in room coffee after your first packet, regardless of how many nights you stay, and $10 usd charge for ethernet cable. There are several convenience stores and street stalls nearby that sell bottled water for less than hotel. The metro is some distance, but a metrobus, which links up with the metro and is very safe and convenient, is a three minute walk away on Insurgentes. Taxi to/from airport around $15-18 usd.

The EMPORIO HOTEL on Reforma Avenue was a very pleasant, nice hotel, with a very nice service, courtious receoptionist, bell ... boys, maid service, chefs, waiters, and greeters. They made me and my fiance feel quite welcome. The rooms are recenlty renovated, wih wonderful beds, and pillows. Nice decorations. We just felt great, and are planing to go back to the same hotel soon. We only stayed for 4 nights, but wished to have stayed at least 10 more days. Its location is quite centric with nearby shopping centers, movie theaters, and exquisite restaurant and bistros. I highly recommend it without any hesitation whatsoever.
