Nice hotel; perfect location
Miguelito, the bilingual gringo! Apr 22, 2009
We were in a 8th floor suite that overlooked the pool and ocean. It's very pretty and priced appropriately. The restaurant is ... the weakest link in the hotel's offering. The pool is nice and they play a mix of Spanish music which seems to be acceptable to all age ranges. The hotel is nicely located such that you have nice beaches in front of you for quite a distance in either direction.

Before your trip, you don't need to go to the trouble of changing U.S. dollars to pesos since everyone--and we mean everyone--takes U.S. dollars in Mazatlan. But they will give you change in pesos when you do pay with dollars, which is okay for most of your time there because your next purchase can be made with those pesos or a combination of pesos and dollars. So towards the end of your stay, make sure to have plenty of fives and ones in U.S. currency so that when you pay for something, you can reduce the need of getting back change at all.

Costa de Oro is a good choice for the price. The rooms are small and they only offer double beds. The room did not have much ... to offer. There were two beds, a small tv, a table with two chairs and a bathroom. We were disappointed to find no clock or alarm in the room. We did end up switching rooms due to mold that was in the bathroom. The second room was mold free; however, still no clock. The view from our balcony was great and we could hear the ocean at night which was also a plus. The pool at the hotel was great, however i would only recommend purchasing drinks during happy hour because they are pricey. We only ate at the hotel restaurant once and it was average, nothing special for the price. The location was the best part about the hotel. There are many places to eat, shop, and be entertained within walking distance. Gus Gus across the street offers great prices on drinks and live music every night.

We really recommend attending a Mexican Fiesta. Was a very enjoyable evening and the food was very good. Mary's Burger Shop across the street was a great place for a sandwich. We also enjoyed the tours that were offered-especially the city tour of old Mazatlan and the Island Tour.

This resort is perfectly placed in the Gold Zone of Mazatlan. All the staff were extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are ... great! We spent the little extra money for the Ocean view suite and I would recommend this for anyone. The room is amazing with ample space for everything and they catered to my one year old daughter with a in room crib also. GREAT GREAT GREAT resort and room. Spend the extra cash get the suite and enjoy the view!!

Great Location, beach
Orrin Jan 17, 2008
The Costa De Oro staff were all great. Restaurant food was very good for breakfast. We ate away from the motel for all ... other meals. Our room was very damp and cold. I wore sweats to bed at nite in order to be comfortable. There was mold growing in the ceiling of our closet and the smell was awful when you first walked in the room. We left our closet doors open all the time, otherwise our clothes would have smelled the same. The beds were very old and worn, hard mattresses. Room was very clean. The location was great-just far enough from the Golden Zone to be a little more quiet, but within walking distance. Time share people nearly drove us crazy everywhere we went. We did attend a time share presentation at the hotel. The supervisor who came after we said no called us strange and was next to rude when we didn't buy in. This was our second time in Mazatlan. Different hotel this visit. It was a bit more rustic and uncomfortable than we are used to.

My review of Hotel Costa De Oro
fred Apr 21, 2007
The room that we reserved was very small. Ocean veiw standard No coffee pot, frig or micro. We had to pay an additional $40 ... dollars per night to get these few amenities. Room service forgot to leave complimentary coffee two days. There is an additional 15% tax charged if you eat at the on sight resturant. Wouldn't stay there again.
