One night at Hotel Carmen

I don't enjoy writing a bad review and I know the 2 stars isn't a great start, but the experience should be shared I ... believe. The desk clerks are very helpful and speak decent English. They are very friendly as well (gave us good info about the Falls, transportation there, night life, other casinos and hotels, center of town, etc.) The Hotel seems to be very old, so the walls are paper thin .. If you have other Argentinians staying here, which is typical as they come from other parts of the country to visit The Iguazu Falls (or noisy tourists), you'll notice soon, that they stay up late, very late, and they are LOUD .. and with paper thin walls, you won't get much sleep. Another reason for not getting any sleep is the quality of the beds/mattresses ... they are horrible! Old mattresses, not much cushion and you'll feel the springs on your back! And there were 4 of them in our room (ea. twin size i think).. I reserved this place and had read the bad reviews but I knew I could tough it out and so my buddy and I managed to do so ... But I doubt you'd want to stay here more than one night ... ALSO - the towels they gave us were very dirty or looked dirty at least .. old towns with stains all over them! The nice thing was, they DID have HOT Water and provided somewhat of a buffet style breakfast; it's not much, as it's not typical for Argentinians to eat a whole lot for breakfast; an omelet for example would cost you more, etc. So overall, cleanliness and noise is the issue with this place .. had I seen roaches and experienced rude guest services, for sure they would have gotten 1 Star! ;) anyway, enjoy the Falls (Cataratas de Iguazu - a surreal experience!) and stay at a nicer hotel if you can afford it, esp. if you're planning on staying in this town for more than one night. FYI - I am an American citizen and as you know, we're a bit spoiled back in the US! so i hope i have not offended any of my Argentinian buddies ;)
