Only criticism I have is they only had one room key for a room with two double beds. My brother had checked in and was ... waiting in the room. When I arrived at the front desk, there wasn't another key except with engineering staff. While the front desk did request it, I never went to pick it up.

Take the blue line train direct from O'Hare to Washington Street (40 minutes) and walk a block to the hotel. Also, gourmet fast food restaurants on the 7th floor of Macys (Marshall Fields) - Seven on State - is a great place for an excellent lunch. Argo Tea, Jamba Juice, and Corner Bakery are all great food places.

Perfect location, modern and friendly
Sharyle Sep 1, 2008
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Burnham in August 2008 with one exception. Major construction going on directly across the ... street. The workers are there day and night. Ask for a room on a higher floor to avoid the noise. The room was on the small side but very stylish. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious, exceeding our expectations. The location is perfect, close to shopping, museums, and Millenium Park.

THIS HOTEL IS GREAT
Richard Aug 28, 2008
My husband and I loved this hotel. The staff was wonderful and always checking to see if they could help you in any way. All ... the decor is beautiful. We loved the room; we had one of the best views we have ever had at any hotel! There was plenty of room and I loved that lounge next to the big window. We even got a kick out of the leopard and zebra robes! The location is excellent for shopping, dining, the theater and the trolley stops. All in all this was a great hotel and when we go back to Chicago this is where we plan to stay.

Weekend of Construction and Hell
Adrien Aug 25, 2008
I was not prepared for the Nightmare of the construction in the area. When i first checked in I couldn't find the hotel ... because of all the construction in the area. Washington street where the hotel is located was closed off to traffic. It took me approximately 45 minutes to finally get to the block. While checking in the hotel gave a suite on the third floor in ordinary btimes this would have been great but unfortunately there was construction going on 24 hrs around the clock. In the evening we asked to change our room this was around 11pm. The bellboy took u to the 12th floor suite when he walked in their was clothes on the floor, he immediately contacted the manager who came to the room to discover that room was still occupied. They finally gave us a regular room with a queen bed. The next day we wanted to speak with the manager he wasn't available. Bt the way construction was still going on all Saturday night we didn't get a quality night sleep. No suites were available to change on Sunday am. We did receive a comp bf. We stayed in the room Sunday nt the construction on the block was finally over by 4pm. The next am we finally spoke to the manager of the hotel he appologized to us about our stay. After speaking with him for an additional 15 minutes he finallyagreed to give us a gift certificate for a future weekend stay in Chicago. The construction which was going on for a year and ahalf is now complete. The hotel is a beautiful botique masterpiece but our stay was unfortunately a disaster.

Great location and architectural gem
Marilyn Aug 20, 2008
The Hotel Burnham in Chicago was a very lovely, well-restored hotel. One member of our party is studying architecture in ... college and he was fascinated by the restoration of this former skyscraper and the detail included in the restoration. The bathroom was very large and easy to move around in - there was a large vanity, good hooks for hanging clothes, and nice toiletries. The hotel was in the Loop area of Chicago and many attractions were within walking distance -Millenium Park, The Art Institute, the Chicago ArchiCenter, and Sears Tower (to name a few.)

My review of Hotel Burnham - a Kimpton Hotel
Dave Jul 27, 2008
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Burnham. All of the staff were pleasant, helpful and very accomodating. The hotel ... itself is beautiful. We had a corner suite with king size bed, large sitting room with love seat, chair and desk; plenty of room to be comfortable. It's central location made it very easy to go out and enjoy the Chicago night life.

The dining, jazz club and piano bar we went to were incredible. In truth we could have walked instead of the $6.85 cab ride.

Great surprise
Linda Jul 6, 2008
We visit Chicago quite often but have almost stayed at hotels along the Magnificent Mile. On this trip we wanted to ... experience the Taste of Chicago so we chose Hotel Burnham which is an easy walk to Grant Park. The staff there couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. I forgot some toiletries, and after calling the desk, someone brought replacements to our room within minutes. The complimentary evening wine reception was relaxing, enjoyable, and a great way to meet fellow travelers. Our room was small but it was immaculate and beauifully decorated. After a day of sight-seeing, we returned to the hotel, always getting a nice welcome back and acknowledgement from the staff. We'll definitely return to this hotel. Although it's a little longer walk to the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier, the decor, service, and friendliness of the staff make the extra steps well worthwhile.

Architectural gem with great service
Deborah Jul 4, 2008
The Hotel Burnham in the loop in Chicago was an architectural gem that has preserved the wonderful character of the building. ... I love hotels that are unique and have old world charm. This definitely had all that and more. Outstanding staff made it even more pleasurable. It was close to most of the things we wanted to do. God willing I will stay there again.

An historic presence
Marie Jun 16, 2008
It was a bit of history.. quiet elegance with velvet and satin duvet, heavy drapes and granite bathroom counters. After ... reading The Devil & the White City I could almost imagine Mr.Dunham,himself. It was delightful. Coming from the Northwest to visit Chicago I found the location perfect. Easy walking to the park, shopping and even the river tour. The staff was very friendly and helpful and my husband and I felt quite at home coming and going in and out of the hotel. I would definitely stay there again. We did use the safe but had a smile about the leopard robes that hung in the clothes closet.

The Hotel Kimpton was a nice hotel. But at check in I called ahead to see if I could check in early about 2:30 instead of the ... 3:00 they said it wasn't possible. I had dinner plans at 4:15 so I was at the hotel at 3:00 they informed me it would be a bit around 3:20 I took a walk and came back at 3;30 and was informed that it would be 4:00 I told them this wasn't going to do. Front desk person said they would do the best the could I finally got into the room at 3:55 made my dinner and was happy. My only complaint was to inform guest of the correct times.

My significant other and I stayed here this past weekend and had a wonderful visit. The rooms have tasteful decorations ... and adequate room to move about and stow luggage. The service / concierge offered appropriate helpful dining suggestions and walking directions. The rooms were immaculate and the turndown service is a nice touch. Hotel Burnham, in some ways is a destination in itself. Definitely recommended.
