Great Hotel
brutus Nov 21, 2009
I needed a place to stay that was easy for me to get to interviews uptown and downtown. I got a great night's sleep and made ... both interviews well ahead of schedule due to proximity to public transportation. The room was quiet and wonderfully furnished with a king bed, ironing board to prepare my attire and internet to do my research. I will be staying here again on my next visit.

OK hotel
Maria Nov 12, 2009
Was in Chicago on vacation with my fiancé for two nights. The hotel was clean and well kept with very big, and nice rooms. ... Great with free internet!! Location was OK and close to shopping. It was noisy, though, both from traffic and from the corridor outside the door (the doors made a lot of noice when you closed it if you weren't really careful.) Breakfast was not good. One sort of bread, with no ham or cheese to put on, only butter. The muffins were good, though. The man working there seemed to be more interested in talking to two cute girls than make sure that there was any coffee cups or orange juice left. To sum up, this hotel was good but noisy, and don't take it only because of the included breakfast.

The staff was a delight to work with and the service was excellent. Their 24-hour Business Center, including a cozy ... conference room, was ideal for getting work done outside the room, while the free in-room wireless Internet access let me keep up on my e-mails (work and personal) even in my PJs.

Hotel Blake is in a great location! Nice building and very friendly staff. Checked in late after a nasty flight and Bellman ... sent us out of our way in the rain for dinner. Later learned that he got "credit" from the establishment for our meal...rather disappointing since we came back soaked and could have gone somewhere closer! Other than that the staff was very friendly and responsive. The room was not the best because of the loud HVAC and it really didn't work well to boot! One of the 2 elevators was "iffy" as to whether it worked or not.

A two block walk from the hotel is Hackneys which is a great casual dinner spot. The burgers at this pub are great and the onion loaf is claimed to be in the top three in the country! Not sure how they determined that, but I can't imagine any better!

Sept. 09 One-Night Stay
Mttaylor Oct 1, 2009
This is my second stay at The Blake, so I obviously like the hotel. It is very "modern" in decor and has a good location on ... S. Dearborn in Chicago. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are great. My first stay had a room with a view of the hideous Harold Washington Library... hideous in design but makes for a great view. This stay had a view of a brick wall and the alley. The garbage trucks backed up to pick up the refuse at 4:30 a.m..... but my daughter slept through it. (We were touring college choices.) Big bathrooms, lotsa living space. Very comfortable and convenient to downtown Chicago. I'd stay here again but ask for a room over the front of the hotel.

Almost perfect
Conan the super traveler Sep 29, 2009
The staff were attentive, polite, and informative. The location was right downtown and very affordable. The only issue I had ... was with a small, chronic water leak that was in the wall by the closet. It was probably a drip line for the A/C or something like that. Carpet was barely damp right around it and the wall coverings were slightly bubbled. As soon as I brought it to the attention of the staff they said they would take care of it immediatly. They offered to move me, but I declined. It wasn't that bad, just slighty annoying.

If you're coming from the airport, take the train. It's FASTER than the stupid shuttle. Traffic is awful most of the time with road construction. Talk to locals or staff at the Airport and they can help you find a train. Cab or walk, it's just a block from the train.

Blake Blah
U2 fan Sep 14, 2009
Booked the Blake because it was an EXCELLENT location for museums and Soldier Field. The room was modernly furnished and ... clean, but the check-in, check-out and valet process was VERY VERY slow. Pitiful breakfast was remedied by dropping 5 bucks at Starbucks across the street. Ipod docking station didn't work - neither did the remote. They fixed the remote -- did not offer to get me a new radio. Had to ask and they said no. Only gave two towels - no robes to be found. Blake LOOKED good -- service was disappointing -- location was close to perfect for museums/soldier field.
