Exceptional location in the Theatre District near to Union Square this completely restored hotel features a fresh design that bridges its Spanish Colonial Revival architectural roots to a clean and contemporary design aesthetic. Located in the heart of San Francisco's theater district making it the perfect destination for exploring whether you're visiting on business or pleasure. The pace and atmosphere is luxuriant and aromatic, surrounding guests in rich, touchable fabrics, glowing candles, and lush flowers. Uniquely San Franciscan and clearly Californian, the new Hotel Adagio attracts stylish travelers that seek out hotels as experiences, but prefer to sidestep trendy design, faux elegance and service with an attitude.
As of January 2008, 100% of the Hotel Adagio is Air Conditioned including all 171 guest rooms.
Effective July 1st, valet parking is $39.00 per night plus tax. (regular sized cars)

Had a fantastic stay. Location for the City was great. Parked the car in garage next door (1/2 the price of the hotel ... parking] and walked and used the public transportation. Had wi-fi and free print out of airline tickets. Front staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean facility. A bit noisy at night. Will stay here again if the price is right. Make sure to eat breskfast and pm break at the Honey Honey Crepery 1 blk away.

Great stay in San Francisco
Aaron's mom & dad Oct 31, 2009
Great location within a few blocks of Union Square shopping and all forms of transportation-the famous cable cars, the f-line ... trolleys to Fisherman's Wharf, busses and subway or just walking. The streets are busy so walking back to the hotel later in the evening felt comfortable. Yes there is noise and there are homeless people but that all goes along with a big city and didn't lessen our enjoyment of it. The hotel itself has a great ambience-modern but very cozy-the room was very spacious and clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Just a great experience overall.

Hotel Adagio
luckycouple Oct 20, 2009
My wife and I stayed here for a few nights on our honeymoon. There had been heavy rain a few nights before we stayed. When we ... arrived the clerk said rooms had been flooded. My wife and I, she said, could not stay in the Junior Suite we booked[...]. We were given the option of either staying in a hotel 10-minutes away or staying in smaller room. The clerk said either way, they would make it worth our while. We chose to remain at the hotel, stay in a full-size bed for one night and they moved us to the Junior Suite we reserved for the next two. The first room was fine. We had a nice stay. But they never made it "worth our while" or even acknowledged our downgrade after we made the switch. The hotel was nice enough. It was a good location. The rooms were chic and comfortable; decent-sized for San Francisco (which still means small). But bad first impression aside, I was not overly impressed with service. In fairness, [...] got us a good rate on our rooms, but there are so many good hotels in San Francisco that I would not stay at this one again.

My husband and I were looking for a comfortable but not too expensive place to stay near the Symphony and not far from a BART ... station for a quick jaunt to San Francisco before a California weekend wedding. Hotel Adagio definitely fit the bill. Plus, their helpful staff was almost more excited than we were that she could upgrade us to a nicer room at no extra charge. They have free city guides that you can download or request from the front desk. [...]

perfect location and great room!
traveler Sep 27, 2009
I had to go to San Francisco for business and my husband went just for fun. This hotel was perfectly situated for both of us. ... I was able to walk to my conference on Nob Hill (bring your sneakers) and he had plenty of easily walkable sites from the hotel. The room was quiet, clean and roomy. Staff was ok, but that's ok, no major issues. This place is half the price of the more pretentious hotels I've stayed in in the past and just as good. I'll definitely stay there again. It was disappointing that there restaurant/bar area was only open for breakfast.

Hotel was excellent with a very minor exception, no fitness center. The decription of the hotel never stated a fitness ... center and normally it wouldn't be something that was critical, but after 4 hours of up and down hills, a nice hot tub would have been relaxing. Don't let the small miles fool you, while SF is only 7 X 7 miles and it might show you a few miles from Fisherman's Wharf and some of the other sights, unless you are an avid hiker and used to going up and down hills (very steep hills by the way) those hills are killers. We did make it, on foot, to Chinatown and Union Square and the tours of the city and Napa were outstanding (both by Tower Tours and would recommend them) and well worth it. Parking seems unbelievably expensive as does everything else, but what city doesn't anymore. There is plenty to do, bike rentals, tours (don't miss the haunted SF tour, we did cuz we learned about it our last day, but it sounded outstanding). Can't say enough about the staff at the hotel, they try to do any and everything to make your stay comfortable. Dress right, we had 50's over night and then 80's during the day, 90's in Napa. These were records, but make sure you take clothes you can layer and great walking shoes (and wear them, I brought them and went on that small walk and found how bad the hills can treat you).

While the hotel's restaurant is only open for breakfast, there are cafes all around you. A starbucks a block down (for those who have to have their starbucks) and great food places on Fisherman's Wharf (of course). We'd recommend Scomo's (had a full dinner there and never knew scallops could taste that good), Alioto's (think I spelled this right) for an appetizer and drink at the bar (after walking all morning). We had to have out Mexican food and down the block (right by starbucks) is Colibri and while we only had appetizers, they definately were enough to fill us up.

The breakfast at the hotel was 14.00 but I would suggest to go out for dining. There are ALOT of places to eat that are priced more reasonably. (the Olympic cafe, just across the street had wonderful omeletes). Book the Double decker bus tours. I book the "all tours" package, it was 65.oo dollards and good for 2 days. I went everywhere!

Parking in the city can be difficult to find or expensive. We kept our car in a parking garage next door to the hotel and paid a flat reasonable rate in advance for the days we were there. We felt later that the money was well worth it as we had unlimited, convenient access to the car whenever we needed it.

The tenderloin is barely a block away so walk towards union square for safety. The daily grill is a short walk and excellent.
