Lovely Asian flair to hotel decor; Great lobby and attentive doorman!! Bed,Bath and Beyond products in Bathroom. Room ... service was quick and salad very tasty (and accompanied by my favorite sourdough rolls!)

The Dolores Cafe one block up Powell on corner had great breakfasts; Banana nut pancakes, yum! Quaint and no long line like at overrated Sears one block down Powell!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Always a hello and thank you. The room was clean and nicely decorated. We stayed on ... the 20th floor and had a great view. Could see the bay. Loved the location. Was able to catch the trolley easily. Excellent restaurants close by. Close to Union Square. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff was friendly, but I was not expecting the Hotel to charge their guests for parking. The fee $40/day,which is alot ... by the way (the garage next door to the hotel charged $30). Also after booking the room online for 4 people, I still called the hotel to request two beds, but when we got there they didnt have two beds only king, and they didnt even have a roll away bed the first night. I had to ask again the next day if they had one, they didnt even bother to ask if we still needed one. I would not stay at this Hotel again.

Take a Taxi, and find a hotel with free parking, or at least one that doesn't charge a large amount for parking.

Theatre goer Aug 9, 2009
The location of this hotel is right next to Union Square and only a few streets away from the Chinatown Gate. We went to see ... Wicked and walked to the theatre and back to the hotel without problem (the area around 5th and Market is dicey, but the walk was quick). The staff were especially kind and friendly. While the hotel was a bit pricier than I would like, everything else was great. The rooms were big (especially for San Francisco) and clean. Overall great experience.

The hotel does provide parking, but the rate is around $54 a night. Go just a block down to Mason, turn left (it is a one way street) and then left again into public parking. They have a rate of $27 a night.

The hotel room was perfect, the staff were very kind and helpful, it was a little noisy at night but I guess it´s normal in ... that part of town, the location is excellent also, you could walk to chinatown and other points of interest, or you could get on the cablecar just across the street, also across the street there was a starbucks and a walgreens that really helped us out when we needed snaks or something, parking and food in the hotel were pricy, but overall it was worth it.
Traveler type: Family
About 3 or 4 blocks from the hotel there is a cable car station, where you can buy tickets and board the cablecar, we bought the city pass, it enables you to board cablecars and all MUNI transport for seven days, it also includes several tickets for museums, the aquarium, and a ride on a boat around the bay, it costs 59dlls. but it is worth that and more.

Hotel 480 is a nice place to stay. It's reasonably priced for San Francisco. It's about eight blocks from the Moscone ... Center -- a 15 minute walk at most. I felt comfortable walking in the am; one may wish to take a taxi in the evening. Staff were very nice and helpful. Exercise room was closed for remodeling (several months) which I didn't like. Food at the hotel was outrageosly priced - pancakes, eggs and sausage over $23 -- but what isn't in SF. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay.

Much to do within several blocks of this hotel.
