Hotel Room in need of updating
Relocated Jersey Girl Sep 28, 2009
The hotel is in a great location to see the National Mall. Very close to Air & Space Museum-- but-- our room was close to the ... Railroad tracks-- very loud, the toilet seat slid everytime you sat on it-- and we are not heavy, the faucet handles were so loose you could take them off and the showerknob would not turn past a certain point so the temperature was milldly warm.-- no newspaper in the morning either-- it was fine for the price and location but the room needed maintenance. We traveled to the monuments and museums by bike. -it was the best way to travel with the kids-no complaining about being tired!

Very nice hotel, the best part of this hotel was the location. I block from the metro and 2 blocks from The Air and Space ... Museum. Staff was nice and helpful. The restaurant was very expensive and the food was not all that great. The area is lacking restaurants. McDonalds, CVS, Starbucks, and Quiznos located on same block.

The hotel was clean and in a good location to visist all the museums. The pool was very small, not what is shown on the ... site, food was expensive, but good. We had a very hot and humid four days in Washington and the AC only comes on when you enter the room, so no matter what you set the temp at, it stays at 75 if you aren't in the room.

Went to DC for vacation, chose this hotel due to location, room appeared to be clean, accidently split some salad dressing on ... the carpet. I wet a washcloth to "dab" up the dressing, was shocked to see how dirty the washcloth got, it was like I had used it to wipe off a shoe that had been in the mud. I was shocked. I found a convenience store and bought some Lysol cleaner for the bathroom. The wallpaper in the bathroom was pealing off, the tile in the bathroom needed to be recalked and the tub needed to be reglazed. The cleaning staff spent very little time in the room. On the positive side, the room was quiet and we did have very warm water for showers. I was very disapointed, I would have expected better and cleaner rooms from hotels costing half as much. The workout room was nice with good equipment, however it was so warm in there, I didn't want to stay in there.

We chose the Open Top Bus Tour, I would recomment this to my friends as a good buy and worth the money. The L'enfant plaza is a short distance from the hotel (1 1/2 blocks), which offers rides via the Metro to most all locations, including the Union Station. When given the choice, take the Metro instead of the MARC.

Good location, close to mall and Metro
Family vacation to D.C. Jul 13, 2009
Room was nothing spectacular, just average. Beds were too firm for us. Seemed over priced for us but comparable given the ... city and the location. A little over a block away to a Metro stop and about 2 blocks to the mall which was great. Did not eat there so we cannot comment on that. Did park there and from reading other reviews I was prepared for the price, we paid $28 a day to park there, garage was confusing though. Overall pleased with the experience but probably would not stay there again because we used Metro so much, we would find a lower priced room close to a Metro stop.

We stayed in this hotel while driving back and forth to Vienna, McLean and Herndon. Without traffic it was a 25 minute drive ... to Herndon. We walked around the mall and Smithsonians and back to the hotel, no taxi needed. Friendly front desk service, clean rooms, good location. YEH for the Starbucks in the lobby!

There were many more within walking distance also. You will need a taxi for the Zoo or National Cathedral

The hotel has two eating options, both of which were ok. I wish we had been more aggressive in finding other lunch and dinner eating options, which seem to be well-hidden in that part of DC. They're there, but a person really has to hunt for them. The concierge was not very helpful when we asked for a dinner place that served good salads. He told us we would have to travel to find that. In retrospect, he could have offered other meal ideas for closer places.

Save money by taking the Metro -- DCs subway system -- from the airport. It really is easy. Follow the signs to the Metro at the airport. Get a ticket for the Blue line (they each have a color) and get off at L'Enfant (I think that is how you spell it). From there, the hotel is only one block. While you are on the Metro, check out the map of where it goes. You can go almost anywhere (not Georgetown, unfortunately), and it is cheap. Be Brave!!
--Older but Bolder, Aberdeen, WA May 8, 2009
If visiting the Smithsonian Museums, get there early! Don't wait until noon or later, they tend to be really crowded later in the day. Also, try the hop-on, hop-off trolley, it was a great way to see a lot and eliminate some of the walking.
