My best friend and I have talked about this trip for a year. Just a weekend away from all the daily stresses. We were able ... to check in early, which was great. However, we were in a smoking room and it smelled terrible as soon as we opened the door. I've stayed at other hotels in smoking rooms and you couldn't even tell. This was overwhelmingly smokey. Floors were dirty. The coffee supplied in the little packages tasted old. Went for ice and the machine was broken and the sign said they were broken on the first 3 (of 5)floors. The pop machine didn't have any diet coke and didn't on the first 3 (of 5)floors. The elevator smelled stale and musty so we took the stairs for most of the stay. The hostess/bartender in the restaurant was unfriendly and short with her answers to our questions. The waitress, however, was great! and the meal was fantastic! Kudos to [...] and the chef!!! They are the ONLY things that made this stay bearable.

Very cordial staff. Our room service breakfast was not delivered promptly and the staff member apologized and did not charge ... us for it. The breakfast was a delicious meal with generous portions.

The service was friendly but the room/hall looked a bit "seedy". The hall carpet didn't fit right and was bunched up in ... places and my room carpet had a big stain near the bathroom. The AC was also pretty noisy.

We discovered a bed bug during our stay and were therefore, unhappy with the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff was friendly ... and very helpful as they set us up at a very nice nearby hotel at no charge and I was very pleased with their willingness to take responsibility and deliver quality customer service.

I thought the price I paid for this Holiday Inn relative to it's distance from the Plaza was great. The room and amenites ... were great.

the worst experience i have EVER had at a hotel

The Holiday Inn at the Plaza (By the way, it is NOT at the Plaza...it is down the street and not safe to walk outside after ... dark) was the most distressing, upsetting and uncomfortable hotel mostly due to the broken air condition through out most of the hotel and their impolite, uncompassionate, disrespectful, offensive as well as intimidating staff. (Not the bar staff or maintenance staff) The night desk clerk general manager and security manager made it quite clear that since i was an internet customer, i will take the room they give me, even with no air conditioner (it never went below 104* the entire week). I pleaded for help with my bags and even with a baby in my arms, a back brace on, and money out ready to pay they REFUSED. I had to call some one (that i only met once) to come back and help me. They tried to make me park in a garage down the street from the entrance at 11pm with an infant. I left rented car in the registration only space. They told me if i did not take the room the had for they were going EVICT me from the property...with my baby in my arms who was bleeding from scratching his heat rash, hungary because vending machines were broke i had no water for formula and it was after midnight. I am writing a more detailed letter to you, Holiday Inn, Chamber of Com, Better B.B. and any one else i can think of for the threats and intimidation towards a single woman and baby that were alone in a big city.

The hotel was reasonably located for visits to the Country Club Plaza. Room was fairly warm and air conditioner quite noisy, ... although seemingly OK compared to reports of high temperature conditions in other rooms reported by other guests. Hotel could use utility updates.

I was very disappointed to find out that the restaurant was only open for breakfast. We did not have a car so we had to rely ... on room service or friends to take us out to eat. The room service food was not very good so for many meals we had to walk to the Plaza to eat.

The hotel was somewhat run down. The room sizes are very small. The pool area leaves much to be desired. The food at the ... restaurant is very poor, even though kids did eat free. The staff was friendly and that was really the only plus.

The Holiday Inn at the Plaza is perfectly located to enjoy all the great things Kansas City has to offer. My only regret is ... that we did not have a longer stay. The pool area was right outside our window, and looked luscious. Rain, over which even a fine hotel has no control, kept us from taking advantage of the pool. The staff was helpful and the parking,etc was very convenient.

The Holiday Inn at the Plaza was a great hotel. The price was good, the beds were comfy, and the staff was friendly. The ... location was very close to the plaza, just about a block up the hill. Very convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.
