Best Location, Best Deal
beach lover Nov 4, 2009
Stayed at much higher priced hotels in Aruba in the past but didn't feel like breaking the bank on this trip. I must say ... that this is by far the best location of all the hotels and is closest to the beach. We opted to upgrade our room to ocean front, Bonaire Tower and it was well worth it. Room very clean and nice size. We looked at some of the other towers and were not as nice. I would go with the Bonaire Tower. Great value = you can stay longer in Aruba. Now for the down side, a lot of smokers seem to stay at this hotel. You can avoid most of them by staying on the smoke free floors and staying out of the hotel bar. Just go to the many other establishments on the strip. Another great time in Aruba.

We loved staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Aruba for our Honeymoon. You can't beat the price to stay right on the beach! ... Great location! Across the street from the outdoor shopping mall.

Our favorite part of the trip was the Jeep Safari Tour and would recommend it to anyone. Sign up right in the hotel. The bus will pick you up and drop you off right from the hotel.

I called the hotel a week before to reserve a king bed and they gave us two beds, when we bought the package it was a choice ... ,two beds or a king bed.if we wanted a king bed we have to pay 30 dollars per day. the bathroom had mildew in the tiles to reserve a hut for the beach I had to get up at 6:00 AM and wait in line until 7:30 , ( who want to get up early in vacation?)

Aruba Marriott
Aruba Sep 7, 2009
We've been staying at Aruba Marriott for years. It has been renovated now. It is getting better and better. You can do ... anything you want to in Aruba as far as sport activities go. But we are just enjoying the hotel's atmosphere spending most of the time on the beach and in the amazing Caribbean sea.
Traveler type: Couples
Try "Fishes and more" - a short walk from Marriott: tuna tataki & grilled grouper with mustard sauce are just delicious. "Bella Luna" - a longer walk but food is excellent: amazing calamari and veal marsala. It is very easy to dine in Aruba.

Great location
erinmn Aug 24, 2009
This hotel is in a great location on Palm Beach. It's close to shops and restaurants and right next to the beach. One of the ... best benefits of staying here was being able to walk right out of the lobby and be practically on the sand. There are many other hotels located adjacent to this one, but we chose this hotel because the rates were lower. The decor of the room could have used a bit of an update (it had an interesting multicolored bedspread), but it was clean and comfortable enough and the staff was accomodating and friendly. Overall I enjoyed my stay here.

"Okay Quick Getaway"
Last minute traveler Aug 18, 2009
I booked my reservations at the last minute. I'm content with the deal that I got. Paying for breakfast everyday got a bit ... costly. Yet a buffet restaurant on the beach a couple of doors down made up for it. I recommend getting a jeep if driving. Many of the tourist sites require the durablity of a jeep that a car won't get through. The return flight was delayed a couple of hours due to plane damage while departing. We were offered a cookie and water while we waited on the plane for 2-3 hrs. The water activities near the hotel were great!

Dining in Aruba is very expensive. Pay attention to your check at the end of your meal. Most dining establishments automatically add a 15% surcharge for service. In many cases it seemed that it took away any motivation for for quality service by waiters/waitresses. This is not true in the fine dining establishments, however.
--Big Tim, Manassas VA Jul 4, 2009
Smokey Joe's - great casual menu. If you are from New England, and a Red Sox fan - they get NESN and broadcast the games, which was a lot of fun. Waitstaff and manager very friendly and food was great. Decent prices as well. Deep fried oreos and ice cream for dessert - very tasty!
--Sox Fan, Carver MA Jul 4, 2009
Do not eat at the hotel or order your drinks there! Way too expensive when you can walk a couple of steps across the street and have a much better drink for a better price, as well as much better food! We encourage everyone to have a dinner or two at Smokey Joes! Great mojitos and fantastic ribs! The appetizers were great. We truly had nothing even remotely mediocre to say about them. There are plenty of dining options right outside this hotel as well as shopping. Also, take the bus if you can aroud town to the main city. $2.30 round trip per person compared to a $25-$28 one way cab ride. No kidding. It took about the same time.
--Dustin, Wilmington, NC Jun 21, 2009
Early on your visit check out the local restaurants and bars on the main drag. Many have Early Bird or Happy Hour specials. Some places have a three course meal for $20-23 if you arrive before six or special prices on all you can eat deals on certain days. Happy hours are different at different bars so stop in and ask around to figure out where your best deal are and how you can arrange your schedule to fit your budget. Also remember to ask other tourists where they have found deals. A family asked us where the deals were and were looking for a place where kids ate free and we had happened to see a place and pointed them in the right direction.

If you want to get a taste of the best native food you have to try the Old Conucu House. Cute little house looking setting not too far from the hotel. You will not get better service in any other restaurant in the area and the food is absolutely delicious. Try the catch of the day, the cheese/chicken casserole, the lasagna or the beef stew, desserts which ever you pick you will looooove.
